Portland police arrested one man and are searching for a second suspect for allegedly stealing packages off of neighborhood porches on Christmas Eve.

On Tuesday, Dec. 24, at 1:59 p.m., North Precinct officers responded to the area of Northeast 22nd Avenue and Knott Street on the report of two subjects stealing packages off of neighborhood porches.

Officer arrived and located 55-year-old Robert Joseph Leonard sitting in a vehicle. Officers could see an open Amazon.com box containing a puzzle. Officers also observed a microwave oven in the vehicle, which appeared to be new but was not in a box.

After searching the neighborhood for the second suspect, officers were not able to locate the man, but did locate a packages containing a coffee pot and returned it to the owner.

The second suspect is described as a white male in his 40s, 5'10" tall, medium build, short dark brown hair, wearing a black coat with blue trim.

Leonard was arrested and booked into the Multnomah County Jail for Possession of Methamphetamine, a Probation Violation, Theft in the Third Degree, and Driving While Revoked.
