BATAVIA Five Batavia businesses will be honored as 2014 Ole Award winners on Jan. 30 at the Batavia Chamber of Commerce Inspire 2015 event.

The honorees and the appropriate category for their award are:

Remodeling Industrial: Nutegrity (InCon), 970 Douglas Road

Remodeling Industrial: Iron Mountain, 1501 E. Wilson St.

Remodeling Commercial: Barco Products, 24 N. Washington Ave.

Remodeling Commercial: Gaetanos, 15 E. Wilson St.

New Construction Commercial: Pep Boys, 837 S. Randall Road

According to Gerry Dempsey of Batavia Enterprises Inc., the award demonstrates confidence in Batavia. Dempsey serves as the chairperson of the Ole Awards committee.

Businesses who win this award have made an economic contribution to the community through remodeling, improving, or building a new structure, Dempsey said in a news release from the Batavia Chamber of Commerce. The Batavia Chamber recognizes that owners could spend their money elsewhere, but instead are investing their dollars in their properties in Batavia.

The award was started in 1976 and derives its name from a traditional Swedish name, Ole, to honor the hard working Swedish settlers that were among the first to call Batavia home, the news release stated.
