RAY BROOK The Adirondack Park Agency will meet Thursday at its headquarters in Ray Brook.

This months session is one day only and will be webcast live at http://www.apa.ny.gov (click Webcasting from the Contents list).

The full agency will convene at 9 a.m. for Executive Director Terry Martinos monthly report.

At 9:30, the Regulatory Programs Committee will discuss a variance from the agencys shoreline setback regulations. The Town of Harrietstown and the Village of Saranac Lake have requested a variance to replace and expand an existing 105-foot-long retaining wall within 50 feet of the Saranac River. A 100-square-foot access ramp with metal railing is also proposed.

The board will consider a telecommunication proposal from New Cingular Wireless (AT&T) to replace existing omni-directional antennas with a nine-panel antenna array that would be concealed behind roof gables on the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Lake Placid. The general permit amendment is coming up due to APA Board member Arthur Lussis association with the hotel.

At 1 p.m., the Public Awareness and Communication Committee will hear an informational presentation on the Adirondack Climate and Energy Action Plan from Stephanie Ratcliffe, executive director of the Wild Center.

She will be joined by Curt Stager, professor at Paul Smiths College, who will provide an overview of what climate change means for the Adirondacks, andCorrie Miller, executive director of the Ausable River Association, who will discuss the need for planning for storm events.

At 2:30 p.m., the Park Ecology Committee will be briefed by State Department of Environmental Conservation Assistant Commissioner of Natural Resources Kathy Moser on the Invasive Species Council, legislation and other DEC initiatives.

At 3:30 p.m., the Park Ecology Committee will reconvene for a status update from Rob Davies, DECs director of the Division of Lands and Forests, on existing forest invasive pests in New York

At 4:30, the full agency will assemble to take action as necessary.
