RESIDENTS of Taman Mawar in Kuala Lumpur are concerned over a retaining wall at the intersection of Jalan Mawar 3 and Jalan Bunga Tanjung that collapsed due to the rainy season.

The collapsed wall, in front of a petrol station, has been left unattended for more than a week despite numerous complaints to the Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ).

We have received many complaints from residents but so far no action has been taken. We are also worried that the road might cave in as it is sitting on the wall.

Now that the wall has collapsed, it is now open to erosion especially during rainy days, said Teratai constituency public complaints bureau chief Ben Liew.

Liew added that the debris from the wall is also causing problems for the residents.

Whenever it rains, there is a huge pool of water on the main road and some of the debris has found its way to the road.

Some 2,000 residents around this area use the road, he said adding that there were also reports of accidents several days ago due to the debris and excess water on the road.

Liew said he would write to MPAJ about the problem so that action can be taken.

MPAJ should not wait until the monthly meeting to decide on a solution as this is an emergency and action must be taken, he added.

Meanwhile, a retaining wall also collapsed on a slope at Bukit Antarabangsa.
