A fire broke out in the garden of a home in Milverton, Dunster Crescent, at 1am yesterday (Wed) morning, before spreading into neighbouring properties.

Two fire crews from Weston attended the scene to find three sheds and a fence well alight.

Firefighters battled the blaze with high pressure hoses for almost an hour, eventually leaving the scene at 1.45am.

The sheds were left severely damaged and a number of gardens were strewn with blackened debris.

Avon Fire and Rescue Service sent a team of investigators to try to assess how the fire started, but neighbours told the Mercury they were concerned at seeing a fire so close to their homes.

Milverton resident Austin Sayer said: The fire has taken out several sheds, fences and god knows what else. To us it seems like a war zone.
