Thieves targeted a couple of equipment sheds in Calhoun County recently.

According to a Calhoun County Sheriffs Office incident report, a resident reported July 21 that someone removed items from a shed on Center Hill Road near St. Matthews between June 26 and July 21.

Missing items included between seven to 12 motors (1- to 1.5-horsepower), five batteries and an older model red welding machine. The estimated value of the stolen items was $3,200.

The resident told deputies he contacted Sunshine Salvage in Orangeburg and was informed that some motors had been brought in.

Also, a resident of Kennerly Road near St. Matthews reported July 14 that someone stole items from her unlocked shed while she was on vacation July 1-13.

Reported stolen were a Craftsman weed trimmer, a Craftsman blower and a five-gallon gas container. The resident said gas was also missing from a parked vehicle in her yard. The estimated loss was $360.

In other reports:

* A resident of Loblolly Court near Elloree reported July 16 that someone entered his home, threw items around and left. Nothing appeared to be taken, he said. The front door of the residence was damaged.

* A resident of Dearborn Road near North reported July 21 that her daughter, who lives near Swansea, had removed a washer, a dryer and some air conditioners from her home.
