COLLIER COUNTY, FL -

There's a warning about dangerous black bears. Wildlife officials say they're hungry, looking for food and your home may be a target.

Florida Fish and Wildlife officials say building a shed around your trash will keep bears out.

On Saturday, 70 homeowners in Collier County got brand new shed for protection.

Black bears are getting too close for comfort.

"He was sitting on the ground. He had the peanut butter jar up against his nose and had his tongue in it," said Naples resident Judith Capes.

Capes lives in the Enchanting Shores community in East Naples. She and her neighbors have seen a spike in black bears over the past four years.

The big animals are targeting trash.

"He got into my lanai. He twisted a door. I was lucky enough I could twist it back," said Naples resident John Zullo.

Homeowner John Zullo says they'll do anything to get a bite to eat. But these folks may not have to worry so much this year.
