Humanitarian Crisis in Aleppo due to Fighting between Islamist Terrorists Syrian Government
This video footage from Al Aan TV sheds a light on the humanitarian crisis that currently exists in Aleppo, especially in the eastern parts of the city that are currently controlled by the "Free Syrian Army" (FSA). Al-Qaeda affiliated Islamist insurgents who belong to the Jihadist Salafist school of thought have been leading the FSA insurgency in Aleppo. The most prominent of these groups are: Jabhat al-Nusra (Nusra Front), al-Tawheed (Monotheism) Battalion, Ahrar al-Sham (Free of the Levant) Battalion. The Syrian government is currently engaged in heavy fighting with those terrorists in order to restore order. As a result of this fighting, the toll on the civilian population has been extremely heavy. In the areas that are now under the control of the FSA, basic needs for livelihood are not being provided by anyone, be it food, water, electricity, heating. Even aid is very limited and no large international organizations are providing any aid. It is important to stress that these areas are not under siege. In the areas controlled by the Syrian government, the situation is slightly better, however the economic situation is taking its toll on everyone, as most basic items are now unaffordable due to prices skyrocketing.
