Kevin Boyle: The OTHER 1960s
The 1960s conjure up strong images of love-ins, flower power, antiwar demonstrations, and civil rights marches. While these crucial reference points continue to resonate throughout our culture, they don #39;t tell the whole story. Many Americans regarded the progressive vanguard with considerable suspicion, giving rise to a political and cultural retrenchment that can be considered the other 1960s. Ohio State University historian Kevin Boyle, winner of the 2004 National Book Award for Arc of Justice, is finishing a much-anticipated book on this topic. He argues that the other 1960s, especially when viewed from a midwestern perspective, sheds new light on the current trajectory of our country.From:ChicagoHumanitiesViews:0 0ratingsTime:52:19More inEducation
