Kite-surfing equipment, power tools and a quad bike are just a few of the items stolen from sheds and outbuildings in the Braunton area over the last week.

Police are appealing for witnesses following five burglaries in the last seven days.

Officers said diesel was siphoned from tractors and stolen from other containers at a property in Boode overnight on December 11.

They also said a quad bike was stolen from a shed in Guineaford overnight on December 15 and said kite-surfing equipment was stolen from a shed in Wrafton Road between December 16 and December 18.

Power tools were also taken from two separate sheds in the Ashford area overnight on December 17.

Sergeant Paul Jones, neighbourhood team leader for Ilfracombe and Braunton, said the thefts, which have mostly occurred overnight, may not be linked.

He said: We are appealing for any sightings of unusual vehicles or people acting suspiciously in areas they are not normally expected to be.

I also want to remind people to keep their outbuildings and sheds safely locked and secured.

Anyone who witnessed the burglaries or has any information should contact police on 101, quoting crime reference number CN/13/481.
