Malton Library sheds light on IT for beginners

ANYONE who is keen to get to grips with the world of computers and internet technology is invited to find out more at a special session at Malton library.

An ITea and Biscuits drop-in day on Thursday, January 17, will give people the chance to discover the range of computer taster courses on offer. The event runs from 10am-2pm when staff will be on hand to help everyone decide which course is the most suitable.

The drop-in day aims to ensure that everyone, old or young, can discover the everyday benefits of being online and using different technologies.

County Coun Chris Metcalfe, executive member for library and information services, said: ITea and Biscuits is a friendly introduction to computers and provides information about ways in which computer novices can learn new skills.

It ensures that people have access to services and interests which allow them to take the initiative in living their lives the way in which they want.

Age is no obstacle to using computers as we have found out time and time again in running taster sessions and courses in the libraries. He added: If you have never used a computer but have often wondered what it would be like, this is an ideal opportunity to try it, along with people in a similar situation and with help from library staff.

Tea and biscuits and a chat make this a relaxed and friendly occasion with no pressure and lots of support.
