Industrial Electrician Journeyman

Chicago Bridge and Iron (CB&I) in Lake Charles, Louisiana is seeking four (4) Journeyman (Certified) Electricians with NCCER certifications, written and/or practical. These are long term contract opportunities with the possibility of going direct. Seeking 4 journeymen to act as a Leadman - will provide leadership, instruction and guidance to other craft workers in the crew, providing assistance to the Foreman, while working in the capacity of a Journeyman. Will be executing the planning, layout, installation and repair of wiring, conduit, electrical fixtures, apparatus and control equipment.

Responsibilities include: Prepare sketches showing location of wiring and equipment or follows diagrams or blueprints insuring that concealed wiring is installed prior to completion of future walls, ceilings and flooring. Measures, cuts, bends threads, assembles and installs electrical conduit using such tools as hacksaw, pipe threader, rules and conduit bender. Pulls wire through conduit, with assistance from helper. Splices wires by stripping insulation from terminal leads with knife or piers, twisting or soldering wires together and applying tape or terminal caps. Connects wiring to fixtures and power equipment using hand tools. Installs control and distribution apparatus, such as switches, relays and circuit breaker panels, and fastens in place with screws or bolts using hand or power tools. Test continuity of circuit to insure electrical compatibility and safety of components using testing instruments such as ohmmeter, battery and buzzer and oscilloscope. Observes functioning of installed equipment or systems to determine hazards and need for adjustments, relocation or replacement. Disassembles and repairs defective electrical equipment or systems. Maintains tools and equipment. Responsible for observing and complying with all safety and project rules. Performs other duties as required.

Requirements: HS Diploma or equivalent NCCER Certification as a Journeyman Electrician Minimum 3 years' experience as a journeyman MUST be able to distinguish colors. Knowledge of specific procedures, such as LOTO Local candidates strongly preferred. No relocation or per diem is authorized for these roles.
