Community Meets About Mess On Southside - February 15, 2012 by Mr HomeBuilder

    POSTED: 10:50 pm EST February 14, 2012
    UPDATED: 7:33 am EST February 15, 2012

PITTSBURGH -- Residents at a community meeting on the Southside Tuesday night said they're sick of revelers partying and leaving messes behind."You feel like you're a prisoner in your own house," said Southside resident Rob Frank. "Everybody that lives here can probably say the same thing."The homeowners said they don't want to pay for extra security and cleanup."I think the burden of this is being put on the wrong people," one resident said. "It shouldn't be put on the homeowners. I'm not the one peeing in front of my house at night. I'm not the one tearing the bushes out of my yard at night.""It's always scary to think about paying more money," said neighborhood outreach coordinator Susie Puskar. "Realistically, the city isn't going to be able to do any more for the Southside. The Southside has already achieved a certain level of success, and at this point, if people want to see more services, they need to be able to have that control themselves."The residents at the meeting came up with a plan of action called the Southside Improvement District.Property owners, both residential and commercial, would pay an annual fee to receive regular security, litter cleanup, power washing and other services. The fees would be based on the total assessed value of the properties, but they wouldn't be more than $480 annually for residential property owners. Floor & Decor Provides Tip To Homeowners: Worn Kitchen Cabinet Doors Reduce Home Values - February 15, 2012 by Mr HomeBuilder

Whether buying or selling, the kitchen is truly the heart of any home. With worn out kitchen cabinets doors, however, a home value can decrease. Some quick tips for replacing old cabinets begin with assessing the current kitchen model.

Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) February 14, 2012

Floor & Decor the leader in home decor and flooring helps consumers save with remodeling tips. The company published a new tip regarding kitchen cabinets. Whether buying or selling, the kitchen is truly the heart of any home. With worn out kitchen cabinets doors, however, a home value can decrease. Some quick tips for replacing old cabinets begin with assessing the current kitchen model. Most kitchens employ the efficient “sink-cook top-refrigerator-sink” triangle. Therefore, moving gas lines and plumbing can be costly. The savings obtained from buying discounted kitchen cabinets evaporates additional plumbing work as well. Preserving the best of a current kitchen can save homeowners time and money. New cabinets by design safely accommodated standard sized appliances, while ensuring the homeowner's current appliances are fully functional upon installation.

Next, it is time to measure the area. Kitchen counters are level and plumb, but walls and floors are not always square. This lack of alignment can skew measurements. Homeowners should keep in mind that if floors or walls are severely out of alignment, there may be underlying structural issues in the house. A good cabinets kitchen design store will have detailed instructions on how to take measurements, while offering timely help and reviews.

Finally, homeowners should consider that someday, a realtor will be marketing and selling their home. Just as a home fits a neighborhood, homeowners shouldn't overload the kitchen with unneeded features. Choosing classic colors and styles that fit with the rest of the home. An Early American home needs a kitchen that fits in with that type of architecture. Thinking about the logistics of using the space. The correct placement of the kitchen cabinets makes this easy. Remembering to run through on paper, the process of preparing and serving a meal, then cleaning up after wards. For more information on high quality inexpensive kitchen cabinets, please visit the Floor and Decor cabinets website.

Sienna Miller debuts baby bump - February 15, 2012 by Mr HomeBuilder

Sienna Miller has shown off her baby bump on the red carpet.

The 30-year-old actress and fashion designer began dating actor Tom Sturridge last year and confirmed in January that she was expecting her first child.

Sienna attended The Ever Changing Face of Beauty do at New York's Park Avenue Armory hotel wearing a floor-length, tight-fitting, high-necked black gown which showed off her growing bump for the first time.

She joined guests including Cate Blanchett, Olivia Palermo and Evan Rachel Wood at the unveiling of a video installation by fashion photographer Solve Sundsbo.

The mum-to-be is rumoured to be engaged to The Boat That Rocked star Tom, but she was not wearing a ring on her engagement finger at the event.

The actress said in an interview last year: "I can't wait to be seen as a woman. But I know I probably have to contribute to that with behaviour."

She added: "I think, if you put a camera in anyone's life and document it daily from the age of 21 to 27, there are going to be things that aren't always pretty. Now, I'm much more calm. It feels like a new, more serious decade."

It was announced last month that she and her sister Savannah have stepped down as co-creative directors of their fashion label Twenty8Twelve to focus on other projects, which for Sienna includes becoming a mum.

City Capital Corporation Green Energy Expansion - February 15, 2012 by Mr HomeBuilder

LAS VEGAS, Feb. 15, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Having a firm belief that Green Energy is a sound investment as a necessity for the world's future energy requirements, City Capital Corporation (PINKSHEETS: CTCC.PK - News) announces that its' wholly owned subsidiary, Strategic Energy and Power (STEP), has hired Richard Greenblatt as Vice President of Sales for its LED lighting division. Virtual reality supports planning by architects - February 15, 2012 by Mr HomeBuilder

The inreal terminal is an innovation for use in architecture. Users can "access" their future home prior to construction. The key component of the terminal is a head-mounted display, 3D video glasses with integrated high-resolution motion sensors. They measure the position and movement of the head and, thus, allow for an adaptation of virtual environment in real time. Via tablet control, design wishes, such as changes of the wall color, floor cover, or room layout, can be made immediately. The terminal is advantageous for the client and reduces the architect's working time during the planning phase.

The terminal, consisting of the 3D video glasses, controller, 3D display, and tablet, may not only be used by architects, but also for other purposes. Any environment can be "modeled" on the computer and "accessed" via the terminal. "The terminal gives the users an authentic feeling of space due to intuitive navigation," explains Moritz Luck, one of the founders of the spin-off. In the future, the technology shall be developed further for home users.

This video is not supported by your browser at this time.

inreal Technologies was established in 2010 by the KIT students Thomas Schander, Michael Beyhs, and Moritz Luck. In cooperation with the Institute for Information Management in Engineering (IMI), the young entrepreneurs developed their ideas to maturity. For their innovative approach, they were granted a spin-off stipend under the EXIST program by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology.

PORTLAND -- The Woodburn Company Stores has announced that it will expand one last time, the addition of 16 stores using up all the available construction space.

Officials said 90 percent of the 39,000 square feet of new retail space has already sold out.

Construction on the $10 million project started February 6th and should be finished by fall, creating 30 to 50 jobs during that time.

"We're 100-percent occupied in the existing phase and there are others (retailers)  who would like to be here and some great brands are heading our way. The customers demand it, so it's time to build," said Teri Sunderland, General Manger for Woodburn Company Stores.

The expansion will be a mix of many new companies to the area, including Spritz, a brand name fragrance outlet. More names of the retailers slated to take up space will be released in about a month.

Last year more than four million people visited the outlets. The mall expansion should create about 150 new retail jobs.
