Mr HomeBuilder
Owner/decorator, Doreen Luethje began a career in decorating in 1995. From beginnings as a faux finish painter and wallcovering installer, she went on to work for and interior design store in Grand Island, Nebraska and a furniture store in York, Nebraska. All the while, she kept her home-based business, Interior Innovations, Inc. doing consulting, drapery treatment design & installation as well as selling and installing blinds and shades. Doreen's dream, however, had always been to open her own store and in early 2004 that dream began to become a reality.
Through the summer, renovations were made to the building at 106 East 5th Street in York, Nebraska. After many hours of hard work, in the October of 2004, Interior Innovations, "the store" opened. Doreen attended the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor, is a Window Fashions Certified Professional at the level of Specialist and a Hunter Douglas Window Fashions Institute member at the Silver level. Give Doreen a call and see what her 10 years of experience in helping people make their homes more beautiful can do for you!
Kim Tonniges joined us at Interior Innovations in early 2008. She brings many years of customer service experience with her from her first career as a hairstylist and co-owner of the Townehouse Salon here in York. Kim is still styling hair and making nails beautiful most days, but on Monday and Friday you'll find her here helping our customers choose the perfect furniture and accessories for their home. Kim is very knowledgeable and a valuable asset to our store.

Intermountain Healthcare issued a reminder than carbon monoxide poisoning is possible any time of the year.
Earlier this month, two people were treated for carbon monoxide poisoning. One patient was exposed while running a gasoline-powered concrete saw in his basement without proper ventilation, according to Intermountain Healthcare.
Basically anything that burns, anything that is powered by gas source, can put out enough carbon monoxide to overcome the individual quite rapidly, said Dr. Marc Robbins, Hyperbaric Medicine, Utah Valley Regional Hospital.
Carbon monoxide symptoms are similar to the flu and include headache, nausea, and dizziness
Be sure there is proper ventilation when working with gas-powered tools used in home remodeling projects. Do not use gas-powered generators, stoves or lamps inside a tent when camping. When boating, be sure to stay away from the exhaust and that the system is not blocked.
In 2011, Utah Valley Regionals Hyperbaric Medicine Center saw 11 patients for emergency treatment; five poisoned from emissions from being towed behind a boat on Utah Lake and six poisoned by placing gasoline-powered equipment too close to a living area.

WATERLOO, Iowa --- The Waterloo City Hall lobby will become a construction zone this summer.
City Council members voted 4-2 Monday to approve a $97,800 contract with Prairie Construction Services Inc. of Waterloo to remodel the City Clerk's Office. Councilmen David Jones and Bob Greenwood voted against the project, citing concerns that Prairie was the only bidder.
City Clerk Suzy Schares said the project is expected to start in the middle of July and run through August. It will force the public counter --- the place people apply for licenses and pay parking tickets, among other business --- to be relocated temporarily to the basement.
Work involves moving the current counter farther into the large lobby area to create more space. The counter will be narrower, and additional walls would be erected for security.
"Human Resources will also have a separate access so people won't have to go through the clerk's office to get there," Schares said.
The City Attorney's Office, formerly located in the City Clerk's Office area, has been relocated already to the Mayor's Office. Most of the Human Resources activity has been moved into the clerk's office from the Carnegie Annex, a separate building across Mulberry and West Fifth streets from City Hall.
Schares was given the responsibility of overseeing Human Resources when Mayor Buck Clark laid off the former director, Bob Stringer, in January.
While the project will meet the needs of the Human Resources duties, it also creates more space for filing cabinets.
"We have kind of hit our maximum capacity for storage as far as files go," Schares said.
In other business Monday, council members unanimously approved:

Michael Murphy was 26 years old, and deep into final exams his first semester at the Harvard Graduate School of Design, when Dr. Paul Farmer came to campus to speak. Murphy knew of Farmer, who in 1987 cofounded Partners in Health, to serve Haitis neediest.
It was 2006, World AIDS Day, and Murphy headed over to hear what Farmer had to say. He had no idea that the speech he crammed into his busy schedule would determine the direction of his lifes work.
Farmer told the students about the homes and hospitals Partners in Health (PIH) was building in rural Haiti, Rwanda, and Peru. Murphy was moved. This guy was talking about architecture, but hes calling it health care, he recalls. As a student, I thought it was an interesting reframing of architecture as a key piece of the health care delivery system.
After the speech, Murphy found Farmer and asked how he could help.
Architects? responded Farmer. Why do I need an architect? I just draw it all out on the back of a napkin.
But an e-mail correspondence began, and at the end of his first year in graduate school, Murphy spent the summer in rural Rwanda, working with Partners in Health. Farmers team was treating some of the poorest people in the world, people whose lives had been devastated by the 1994 genocide that killed 800,000 in 100 days.
Murphys lofty aim: to show how architecture fits snugly into the health care cause. Farmer and his colleagues, who had already built clinics and hospitals, agreed that professional architects could indeed help. Shortly after Murphy returned to Harvard, they asked if he could help build a state-of-the-art hospital in Rwanda. It would serve Burera, a district with a population of 400,000, one doctor, and no hospital.
I didnt know how to build a hospital, says Murphy, now 32. But when Paul Farmer calls you, you say yes.
Murphys classmate Alan Ricks, 29, offered to help, along with a few other students and professors. Murphy spent the winter term in Rwanda, puzzling the project out with Farmer and the Rwandan minister of health. We realized it was more than just helping draw up a few plans, says Murphy. It really was about a new vision of architecture.
In 2010, that vision would become MASS Design Group, a Boston team of architects committed to projects that will improve both the health and the lives of a community. With nonprofit status pending, MASS Model of Architecture Serving Society has often teamed up with Partners.

JENSEN BEACH Restoration of the historic Captain Sewall House began last week and by this fall, the project will finally make the home into the focal point it deserves to be at Indian RiverSide Park.
The house, built in the late 1800s, was the home of Capt. Henry Sewall, a Dade County legislative representative. The home also served as a post office in its early days and a bootlegging site in the 1920s.
The Martin County Historic Preservation Board issued a Certificate of Appropriateness for the Captain Sewall House last week. The board's purpose is to protect and preserve historically relevant buildings and properties.
The Certificate of Appropriateness acknowledges the house's 2009 listing on the Martin County Historic Register because of its age and its occupants and grants permission to the county to begin restoring the building to its original glory.
"It definitely needs some work," said Bonnie Landry, Martin County Community Development specialist.
Restoration began with prepping the site for the work that is to come. One bedroom will be removed that was added later in the home's life. It will be re-roofed with wooden shingles. The front porch will be restored, and windows, doors and shutters will be replaced, all with historical accuracy in mind.
The house, originally located on Old St. Lucie Boulevard, was relocated in 2006 to Indian RiverSide Park by barge down the St. Lucie River because the area in which it sat was going to be redeveloped. When the county and Fred Ayers, a private citizen, learned the new property owners had no interest in the home's preservation, they moved fast to save the building. Ayers donated $50,000 to help with the relocation.
When restoration is completed in September, the Captain Sewall House will join the Mansion at Tuckahoe as the second historic home in the park.
Already completed around the blue house is a boardwalk, similar to the one attached to the original home, which will lead visitors into the mangroves behind the building.
"We're going to have this rich history in the county and keep it for years to come," said Randall Saumier, manager of capital projects for Martin County.

BEIRUT: Metn residents warned Tuesday that they will hold a protest next month if no final decision is made regarding a replacement for the recently dismantled Jal al-Dib bridge.
The organizers apologize in advance to Lebanese and to foreign tourists for what their move on June 10 at 7 a.m. will result in if a final decision is not made based on a proposal with a plan for immediate implementation, a statement by the residents said.
It added that Metn residents were fed up with attempts by some officials to politicize their rightful demand for proper infrastructure.
Residents of Jal al-Dib and its environs have protested over the past two months to demand the construction of a replacement for the recently dismantled bridge, in the process blocking the main coastal highway leading to and from Beirut.
Proposals made by an independent group of engineers representing Jal al-Dibs residents and a number of other proposals by the Council of Development and Reconstruction have so far failed to be included in the Cabinets agenda for discussion.
The protesters also said that during a meeting earlier this month with Deputy Prime Minister Samir Moqbel, whom the Cabinet designated to resolve the issue, the Development and Construction Council agreed to prepare a new study based on European standards for a highway extension to Beirut and Tripoli, with a road leading to Jal al-Dib and the Metn.
In the statement Tuesday, residents urged the Cabinet to approve the plan to build the bridge as agreed with Moqbel.
