In January, a mold problem was discovered at West Lafayette City Hall. And according to a report from jconline.com, it already caused a spending of $40,000 just for the remediation survey of the building. In connection with it, Florida mold inspection company AGC Environmental advised the implementation of early air quality testing to all property managers and owners to prevent such a huge mold expense.
The report, which was published on March 13, 2014, related that the growth of the fungus in the building was caused by the rupture of pipes twice in January. And because of it, it stated that employees were evacuated in February.
It was in the basement of the city hall where the mold problem was discovered, relayed the report. However, in order to determine the extent of it and a better course of action could be made for the building, it was decided that an environmental remediation survey would be implemented, it shared.
The survey, said the report, would also assess the asbestos in the building. And the money for it, it added, would be taken from Sagamore Tax Increment Finance funds as approved by the Redevelopment Commission.

Like any problem, mold effects could worsen over time. Considering that, AGC Environmental said that any mold case must be detected early. That way, the remediation could also be implemented early, it stated.
However, the company said that the detection of mold must be done not just by anyone. To ensure that the process is safe, it asserted that the person doing it must be a professional in the field. And with its people being certified experts, it assured everyone that its Florida air quality testing, Florida mold inspection and even Florida asbestos testing are all effective and safe.

Home surveillance footage shows a thief stealing UPS packages from a Houston neighborhood.
Michael Scroggins, a motorcycle service man, ordered a bike part off E-Bay. When he checked the package's status online, it showed the box had been delivered but Scroggins could not find the package.
He checked his home surveillance system and noticed a red car driving down his street, Camphor Drive. The video showed a man parking in a driveway. Minutes later a UPS truck drives onto the street.
The UPS delivery man first takes a package to Scroggins' neighbor who is home to accept it. Next the UPS man leaves Scroggins' package on his front porch. The delivery man then leaves a third package at another neighbor's door.
When the UPS truck leaves, the red car comes back and parks at Scroggins' house. The footage shows the man getting out of the car and stealing Scroggins' package.
This guy pulled into my driveway like he lived here and went onto my porch and took my package and left my house and went to my neighbors house, said Scroggins.
The man then steals the neighbor's box and leaves.
Hours later, the neighbor's package was found abandoned down the street, possibly dumped when the suspect read the label and realized it was a 50 pound box of wheat.
However, Scroggins box of motorcycle parts is still missing.

A South Florida church is providing instant salvation for busy motorists with a drive-thru prayer service that provides on-the-spot spiritual guidance.
Estero United Methodist Church, at 8088 Lord's Way, has recently rekindled its drive-thru prayer service, after dust and debris from a nearby construction site halted the project nearly three years ago when members initially brainstormed the idea.
Drivers racing down the highway Wednesday nights between 5 and 6:30 simply pull into an area outside the church in Estero, Fla., to receive redemption on their way home, drive-thru prayer service leader Pam Sebby said.
"It's been a godsend," she said. "After we pray over them and bless them, they leave."
The Prayer Warriors, as they call themselves, are a team of eight or nine church members who hold large signs directing traffic off Route 41 highway into the church parking lot.
After the cars pull in - usually five to six 6 a night, Sebby said - the team, clad in fluorescent orange vests, gathers around the vehicle and joins the motorist in prayer. Not surprisingly, they attract a lot of attention from passing motorists who honk and shout at them.
"We pray for them, too," Sebby said.
Despite the popularity of the service, Sebby said, it hasn't necessarily increased the congregation numbers, which peak at around 1,100 in winter. But that's not the motivation, she explained, saying that the church is simply providing a service to reach out to members of the community.
Across the country, other offbeat drive-thru services also provide speedy services for those a little overwhelmed by the fast pace of modern life.
In California, one funeral home set up a drive-thru to allow people to mourn without leaving their cars, while Illinois boasts a giant drive-thru department store where customers can preorder items on the Internet and then drive by to pick them up.
