Police are investigating the crimes
By Ewan Foskett Friday, June 13, 2014 12:28 PM
Twenty village sheds have been burgled in the past 10 days, sparking a police warning.
To send a link to this page to a friend, you must be logged in.
Secure your rear garden by shutting and locking gates with a padlock.
Burglars can use garden tools to break in, so make sure you securely lock away any tools after use.
Ensure boundary fences are secure and in good condition too.
Always lock your shed, preferably with two hasp and staple locks near the top and bottom of the door.
Tools and gardening equipment should be visibly marked with your postcode and house number - this can deter thieves and help police identify the rightful owner.
Remember to always lock your garage door securely. Metal up and over doors can be secured with extra locks fitted to either side and/or a floor-mounted locking T bar with a closed shackle padlock. Wooden garage doors can be secured with two substantial hasps and staples and closed shackle padlocks (your local DIY store can advise on the most secure options).

POLICE and fire officers are investigating the cause of a blaze which wiped out a row of garden sheds in a Weston cul-de-sac.
To send a link to this page to a friend, you must be logged in.
A fire broke out in the garden of a home in Milverton, Dunster Crescent, at 1am yesterday (Wed) morning, before spreading into neighbouring properties.
Two fire crews from Weston attended the scene to find three sheds and a fence well alight.
Firefighters battled the blaze with high pressure hoses for almost an hour, eventually leaving the scene at 1.45am.
The sheds were left severely damaged and a number of gardens were strewn with blackened debris.
Avon Fire and Rescue Service sent a team of investigators to try to assess how the fire started, but neighbours told the Mercury they were concerned at seeing a fire so close to their homes.
Milverton resident Austin Sayer said: The fire has taken out several sheds, fences and god knows what else. To us it seems like a war zone.

Rupee weakens due to rising crude oil prices
Mumbai, June 18:
Indian markets plunged over 0.9 per cent at the closing session on Wednesday due to all-round selling by funds and retail investors due to weak rupee despite firm European cues.
The rupee slumped 38 paise to trade at 60.42 against the dollar in the afternoon trade as escalating civil war in Iraq is leading to fears that India's import bill may go up with rising crude oil prices.
Brent rose to the highest level this week as fighting in Iraq damaged the northern energy infrastructure, while the main oilfields in OPECs second-biggest producer were spared. West Texas Intermediate also gained.
The 30-share BSE index Sensex plunged 274.94 points at 25,246.25 and the 50-share NSE index Nifty fell 73.5 points or 0.96 per cent to 7,558.20.
Among BSE sectoral indices, realty index plunged the most by 2.1 per cent, followed by consumer durables 1.59 per cent and power 1.51 per cent. Only healthcare index was up 0.06 per cent.
Among 30-share Sensex constituents, Cipla, Hindalco, GAIL, Dr Reddy's and Maruti were the major gainers, while the major losers were BHEL, TCS, Tata Steel, NTPC and ICICI Bank.
European shares rose as investors awaited the Federal Reserve's monetary policy decision today. Asian shares outside Japan ended lower.
The Fed meet will end with a statement at 1800 GMT, followed half-an-hour later by a news conference with Chair Janet Yellen.

An amendment to Rhode Island's Cesspool Act of 2007 would require removal of a cesspool within 12 months of a home sale. It would have to be replaced with a sewer hookup if available or a septic system.
"At the time of sale is a very difficult time for a lot of people to come up with an extra $10,000 to $15,000," said Susan Arnold, chief executive officer of the Rhode Island Association of Realtors.
The association is concerned the amendment, if passed, could hurt the state's fragile housing market recovery.
"We all believe in clean water, but we also believe in home ownership and trying to get the state back on its feet and housing has a key role in that," Arnold said.
Arnold said unlike Massachusetts, the provision has no tax credit for home buyers who would have to replace their cesspools and there's no statewide loan program. Only certain Rhode Island communities are eligible.
"If this is such a huge issue, DEM has the power today, by regulation, to go in and force a homeowner to replace their cesspool if it has failed," Arnold said.
For its part, the state Department of Environmental Management said there is no such thing as a good cesspool and that this provision is the best way to expedite the process of ridding the state of cesspools.
"Yearly, we can remove 500 cesspools through point of sale as opposed to what's taken us about five years to get rid of about 500 cesspools to date," said Brian Moore of the DEM.
Moore said he is sensitive to the money and that the department is trying to get more communities to implement approved onsite water management plans to make them eligible for the loan program.
He denied the agency is taking a heavy handed approach.

Some property owners in Center Point and an area stretching to Comfort may be compelled to decommission their septic systems and connect to a Kendall County treatment plant in 2017.
The Center Point Wastewater system project, calling for 33 miles of sewer pipes for about 900 households and businesses, is on schedule and slated for possible construction by the end of next year, said Kerr County County Commissioner Tom Moser.
