Vancouver Volcanoes Selected to Host 2014 IBL Playoffs - June 13, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

June 13, 2014 - International Basketball League (IBL) At top of his game, Andre Murray gets a second nod for POTW award

It seems as though five time veteran of the Volcanoes is hard to stop, at the top of his game and top of the In The Game Watch List, 6'2" G Andre Murray is the POTW for a second time this season with outstanding efficiency leading the league in points at 33.2ppg, assists at 8.2 per game and 3.8 steals to go with it.

A four time All Star and 2012 IBL MVP, so far 2014 has produced the best performance from Murray yet, perhaps of his career. "I think I am driven this season, my main goal is to get back overseas this fall, I worked hard in the off season and making sure I have the right mind set conditioning, and eating better."

Murray got his start after attending an open tryout encouraged by a former college teammate, and speaks highly of the team owner and Assistant Coach Bryan Hunter whom he plays for. "I have grown to like the team and the community; there is no place I would rather play for than Vancouver. The league provides exposure and I like the competition, I saw it moving forward in a good direction, so I continue to play in the league."

At the top of the watch list all season, the player wearing MJ's number stays humble as a part of a team on a quest for a championship. "It means a lot to be at the top of the list, I think I am just working hard, staying dedicated to my craft. The guys push me hard in practice and so do the coaches, I can thank them for the efforts for what I have been doing so far," Murray acknowledged.

Higher averages than when he got the nod the first time this season, and against tougher opponents, it was a clear decision. In the last two, back to back games for Murray,he produced 43 points and 11 assists in the win against the Sabres, followed up by 36 total points and 10 assists in another win versus the Chinooks, impressive to say the least from the Portland State University Alumni.

"I think at this point after losing four out of five, my mentality switched gears, I just leave everything on the court. I am in constant attack mode and when I am not hitting my shots I am looking for other guys inside or outside to make the shot.

"Andre is really hard to guard, he is really good with the ball and he does a great job defensively as well. In our sets he gets a lot off on ball screens, but he's also out in space, we put him away from the ball a lot so defense has to rotate on to him. He's so good east to west with his dribble, and when he finishes the way he does he scores at will. I wouldn't want to play against us because we can really score the ball, and Murray is just one of our ways." Navarro says about his star player and the feeling seems to be mutual.

"I think when you have a Coach that puts you in a position to succeed as well have faith in you it makes the job really easy. I have been playing with him (Coach Navarro) for years now, as the assistant and now Head Coach for a second season, I understand most of his schemes and what he expects of me. I think I am just enjoying playing the game, and trying to get these wins."

The Volcanoes will try for two more this weekend as they see the Sabres and then take on Houston, the Lone Star Strikers, where Murray will look to continue his reign as the number one player to watch, gaining momentum into the post season.

BofA Said to Lose Some Equities Staff to Rivals - June 13, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

Bank of America Corp.s equities unit lost about half a dozen members in recent weeks including John OBrien, head of New York derivatives sales, who joined Deutsche Bank AG, said two people with knowledge of the matter.

OBrien, a managing director, previously was co-head of equity-derivatives sales, said the people, who ask not to be named because the moves are private. Michael Kurd, a derivatives trader, was among at least two employees who went to Deutsche Bank, which is based in Frankfurt, and other colleagues left for UBS AG and Morgan Stanley.

Wall Street firms, contending with stagnant trading revenue amid low volatility and new regulations, are adjusting their teams and making selective hires. Charlotte, North Carolina-based Bank of America, the second-biggest U.S. lender, posted $1.15 billion in equities sales and trading revenue in the first quarter, little changed from a year earlier.

Were seeing extraordinary activity at this time compared to the last couple years -- theres a bit more appetite to upgrade desks, Michael Karp, chief executive officer of New York-based recruitment firm Options Group Inc., said in a phone interview. Bonus awards have been announced and so this tends to be the time when people move.

Lauren Sclafani and Andrew Guman, Bank of America equity-research salespeople, joined Zurich-based UBS, the people said. Kevin Barry, a technology trader and seven-year Merrill Lynch veteran, joined New York-based Morgan Stanley. Rachel Eisenpress, a junior Bank of America equity-sales employee, became a business-development associate at Juice Press, a New York-based purveyor of organic smoothies, soups, vegan desserts and juice-cleanse programs, the people said.

Bank of America also hired three managing directors in recent weeks, according to one of the people with knowledge of the matter. Whitfield Hines, formerly of HSBC Holdings Plc, will be head of flow equity derivative sales in Europe, Middle East and Africa, or the EMEA region. Roy Martins, who previously worked at Credit Suisse Group AG (CSGN), was named head of execution services distribution for EMEA, and Lloyd Rosenbaum was hired from JPMorgan Chase & Co. (JPM) for a sales trading role.

The employees didnt return calls or e-mails seeking comment. Zia Ahmed, a Bank of America spokesman, said the company had no comment.

Scottsdale Arizona Air Conditioning Company Announces 13-SEER to 14-SEER AC Upgrade on Select Company Installed Units - June 13, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

Scottsdale, AZ (PRWEB) June 10, 2014

Most of the older installed A/C and HP systems still use R-22 refrigerants. And the more age a unit accumulates, the greater becomes the cost of keeping it running. Summer is here. Residents of Scottsdale and other Arizona localities readily vouch the point. Repair prices are also increasing. And now, hundreds of worn-out home and business HVAC systems are crashing beneath the toll of ever-increasing heat.

This may well be the best possible time to install an energy-efficient cooling system. From the opening estimate, ACH offers phenomenally low pricing on heat pump installation and air conditioning installation. But now through July 1, management has declared that every Scottsdale residential customer is eligible to reap an automatic 13-SEER to 14-SEER upgrade on select heating and cooling units.

If your existing installed air conditioning system demands repetitive seasonal repairs, this American Cooling and Heating A/C sale is for you, Scot Morgan, ACH.

Arizona weather is merciless. Every Scottsdale, AZ air conditioning system battles the seasonal rise in temperatures, storms and dust. Maintaining a comfortable home or business environment is costly. But with modern HVAC technology, extremely sensitive thermostat controls, and a cooling system that is right-sized for the home, comfort can come with an energy-saving payback that makes sweat music out of the ACH 13-SEER to 14-SEER upgrade program.

Too many Scottsdale homeowners are giving up sleep, play and even work due to inefficient home cooling. American Cooling and Heating provides a reliable and cost-effective solution.

Make It A Heat Pump Solution

Due to the dual purpose use, heat pumps cost a bit more than standard central air conditioning systems. However, the year-round savings of a system that provides heat as well as cooling, typically make buying a heat pump the best option for most Scottsdale homes.

Consider the advantages of heat pump technology:

Maximize the cool during summers heat - June 13, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

We all know that sweaty, drippy 90-degree, 100-percent humidity feeling. While we havent had that hot, sticky kind of weather yet, we know its coming this summer, and it pays to be prepared.

Even if you have air conditioning at home like almost 90 percent of Americans, there are still ways to maximize the cool during the hottest days of summer.

Leave your air conditioning units fan in the on position all the time, advised Mike Fields, service technician at Dave Lamb Heating & Cooling in Fenton. Also, maintain a constant temperature in your home, especially if its humid outdoors. Dont turn off the air when you leave your house, then turn it on when you get home, and expect it to be cool right away.

When running your air conditioner, set your thermostat as high as comfortably possible in the summer try it at 78 degrees or higher. Each degree setting below 78 degrees will increase energy consumption by about 8 percent. The less difference between the indoor and outdoor temperatures, the less your overall cooling bill will be.

Fields also suggests that you size your air conditioner based on the size of your home. Some people buy an air conditioner thats too large, thinking it will provide better cooling. However, an oversized air conditioner is actually less effective and an energy waster.

For every 600 square feet of house, you need a ton of air conditioning, he said. In BTUs per hour, an area that is 1,400 to 1,500 square feet needs 24,000 BTUs. Have your house properly sized for air conditioning. There are so many variables, such as the age of your house, how large your ducts are, etc.

All homeowners with air conditioning also need to be aware of the phasing out of the ozone-depleting refrigerant R22 in 2015, a staple in most systems.

Customers need to check their units now, because R22 and its replacement 410A are not compatible, said Fields. He suggests that homeowners check with a heating and cooling professional to see how this environmental change will affect their system.

Other ways to stay cool at home this summer

Install programmable thermostat to automatically reduce the temperatures during low-occupancy hours.
