Gulf Coast Resident Comes Out of Retirement to Help with the 2015 St. Jude Dream Home

80 year old Andy Vitali from Andys Iron works in Long Beach, Mississippi, retired as a true craftsman in the ironworks business. In hopes of helping raise one million dollars for the St. Jude Childrens Hospital, Andy came out of retirement to work on a special project for the 2015 Dream Home.

Upon leaving the military Andy built a thriving business in California as one of the largest importers and distributors for ornamental iron in the country. After selling the business, Andy decided to return to the Mississippi Gulf Coast where he had served at Keesler Air Force Base and here he rekindled his passion for ironworks. He opened Andys Ironworks in Long Beach, Mississippi and after thirty years in business Andy decided to retire and sold the business shortly after Hurricane Katrina.

Seeing the passion Elliott Homes has for developing a high level product and the impact of the St. Jude Dream Home campaign, after eight years Andy came out of retirement for a third time to help reach $1,000,000 for St. Jude on the 2015 Dream Home. Andy says he is, happy to get back at the grinding wheel and lend a hand. It takes a lot of people to accomplish a great cause and if you ask him he will tell you, "If it were easy, everyone would do it." Here Andy is seen grinding a steel gate made for the pond in Malpass West, a subdivision created by Elliott Homes directed toward recovering St. Jude patients.

The pond area is located directly across from the 2015 St. Jude Dream Home. We chose this specific lot for the dream home so that it could overlook the pond and St. Jude gates Andy so graciously created, says Brandon Elliott.

Malpass West is located off of Brasher Road in Biloxi, Mississippi. To visit the Dream Home to see the beautiful gates that Andy has so unselfishly contributed his time to make, take exit 44 south and follow the signs directly to the Dream Home.

The official giveaway drawing for the home will be on Saturday, April 18th.

WESTFIELD, Ind.(Oct. 24, 2014) Neighborhood pushback couldnt stop construction on a new liquor store and gas station in Westfield.

The new 21st Amendment liquor store and soon-to-be Rickers gas station are located right across the street from a church and next to a subdivision.

The development is taking place at 146th Street and Carey Road. The liquor store is already open and the gas station has now hiring signs posted outside.

The Carmel Seventh Day Adventist Church has been a vocal opponent of the project. Church leaders want to see the city of Westfield take up zoning restrictions for liquor stores.

So all I could do at that time was express my disappointment that they had no ordinance restricting how close a liquor store could be to a church, a school, said Vialo Weis, with the Indiana Conference of the Seventh Day Adventist Church.

A brick dividing wall separates the Brentwood Village neighborhood from the liquor store parking lot. The neighborhood association attended many hearings about the project over a span of several years. The association was able to work with the city to restrict hours for the gas station.

We have to live with it, its there thats not going to change, said Rob Ginder, treasurer of the Brentwood Village Property Owners Association. Again wed all prefer not to have anything there other than residential with what theyre putting in there it could be a lot worse.

Typically, the halftime show at a sporting event is a spectacle designed to be passively received. Jesse Fleming's version, an absorbing video installation at 356 Mission, inverts the form while retaining some of the format.

The 13-minute piece is projected onto four large screens, facing in all directions, of a Jumbotron-style structure suspended from the ceiling. "The Halftime Show" is a meditation that invites private participation.

Opening frames show pale pink rosebushes from overhead in a slow-motion, sensuous sway. The image rhymes with one that appears shortly after, of another pale, round shape in motion, this time a whirling dervish, all in billowing white, spinning in a rhythmic trance on an urban basketball court.

Fleming's anti-spectacle proceeds at a viscous pace as a montage of scenes, each given a sustained stretch of airtime and accompanied by the aural equivalent, a soundtrack of deep, droning tones. No quick cuts here; no driving beat.

Fleming shows fans in the stands of what seems to be a Clippers game -- now the Jumbotron looks back at them. He shows tourists in Times Square, posing for selfies.

Spectatorship and self-spectatorship emerge as subtle themes, as do continuous rhythmic motion (wind, waves, dervishes) and roundness (basketballs, a mirrored disco ball, even the bald head of a Buddhist teacher in the final scene).

In this contemplative "Halftime Show," the view, ultimately, is inward, a matter not of attendance, but presence.
