Pyongyang, October 29 (KCNA) -- Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army Kim Jong Un, first secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and first chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK, together with Ri Sol Ju gave field guidance to the newly built restaurant for service personnel.
Watching the restaurant, Kim Jong Un recollected with deep emotion the immortal exploits performed by President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il.
He recalled that the restaurant for service personnel which opened in February 1948 on the personal initiative of the President gave service without interruption not only in the period of building a new country but also during the Fatherland Liberation War and it successfully ensured a banquet celebrating the war victory day which was honored with the presence of the President.
Thanks to Kim Jong Il who personally took a measure for providing foodstuff to the restaurant even in the period of the Arduous March when the country was undergoing great difficulties, the restaurant has always been opened, he said, adding that the service personnel of the KPA will always remember the warm loving care shown by Kim Jong Il.
Noting that the restaurant has satisfactorily played its mission and duty as a catering center for service personnel for the past several decades, he instructed the officials and employees of the restaurant to serve them well so as to convey the profound loving care of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il to posterity.
He went round different places of the restaurant including dining rooms and kitchen to learn in detail about its construction and service plan.
He said all dining rooms look spacious and nice to be fit for catering facilities, interior decoration is peculiar and the color of finishing building materials look attractive, adding that they are so impeccable that they can be used as a state banquet hall.
He was pleased that the restaurant has quality tables, chairs and other furniture, the kitchen was arranged well to be fit for its capacity and it has sufficient utensils including noodle-trays in place. He was satisfied with its modern sterilizing and washing equipment to fully ensure hygienic safety, in particular.
He set forth the tasks to be fulfilled by the restaurant for managing and operating it and improving its service.
Underlining the need for the restaurant to develop itself into the one frequented by service personnel, he stressed that to this end it is most important for its officials and employees to provide kind service and display cultural traits and, at the same time, strive hard to improve the quality of noodle in the spirit of devoted service to service personnel.

Islandia, NY (PRWEB) October 29, 2014
NYC/LI NARI Government Affairs Committee Chairman Ben Jackson, of Bens General Contracting Corp, and other chapter members have worked closely with Nassau County Consumer Affairs Commissioner Madalyn Farley to reinstate the Home Improvement Industry Board, and their efforts have proven successful.
One of NARIs core missions is to encourage ethical conduct, good business practices and professionalism in the industry. We want to have a voice in local government, said Jackson, both for the protection of homeowners and the reputation of licensed and insured contractors.
Nassau County Consumer Affairs abolished the advisory board in 2008 because it became Counterproductive. NYC/LI NARI commends Madalyn Farley for reinstating the board once again. And, as noted by NYC/LI General Council Karl Silverberg, Nassau County home improvement law (Chapter twenty-one of the Nassau County Administrative Code, TITLE D-1 LICENSES, Section 21-11.14) mandates the existence of an advisory board.
Suffolk County Consumer Affairs, led by Commissioner Samuel Chu, currently has an advisory board in place. NYC/LI NARI member Mike Murtha sits on the Suffolk County board and will coordinate efforts with NARIs Government Affairs Committee/Contractors Council at a future meeting.
Appointed by the commissioner, the board shall be composed of individuals having a personal knowledge and interest in home improvement contracting such as representatives of labor, management, trade or government. In addition to NYC/LI NARI members Ben Jackson and Kent Buell, MCR, CKBR of Kentstruction, the Home Improvement Industry Board will be comprised of members of various trade groups such as the Long Island Builders Institute (LIBI), the National Kitchen & Bath Association (NKBA), the Long Island Nursery & Landscape Association (LINLA) and the Association of Pool & Spa Professionals (APSP).
The first meeting is slated for November 18th at the Nassau County Consumer Affairs office in Mineola. Proposed items on the agenda for NYC/LI NARI:
NYC/LI NARI has also worked on an approved contract format for licensed home improvement professionals that will comply with Consumer Affairs requirements. The contract will be published on NARIs website, NARI-NY.org, in the near future. Leading that initiative is Joanne Bechhoff of G.B. Construction, NYC/LI NARI Vice President.
We are proud to have NARI leadership on the advisory councils for both Nassau and Suffolk Consumer Affairs and are excited to participate in the advancement of best practices in the remodeling industry on Long Island, said Regina Biondo, NYC/LI NARI Executive Director.
For more information, please contact the NYC/LI NARI office at: 631-673-6274.

Last Tuesday, I stopped by Motor Supply to check out its patio, renovated earlier this year. The makeover includes a wall of overhead doors, making it open-air-optional, and perfect for al fresco dining when weather permits, as it did on this early fall evening.
Starting in familiar territory, I tried a cocktail and the butchers board of housemade charcuterie both of which were excellent, as expected.
Looking for more info on restaurants, food and drink in Columbia SC? Visit free-times.com/restaurants.This weeks Bite is another appetizer from the dinner menu, and an example of how things are going these days at Motor Supply under executive chef Wes Fulmers leadership. Fulmer seemed relaxed as he made his rounds through the patio, checking on customers. When he stopped by my table, he was quick to give credit to his culinary team for coming up with this dish of seared scallops, crisp-roasted brussels sprouts, fingerling potatoes and carrots with a bacon and herb aioli.
Fulmers passion for charcuterie was on display when he answered a few questions about how long it takes to cure the lonza and coppa on the butcher board, and the intricacies of knowing when its ready (hint: you have to squeeze it). He said the prosciutto his crew is curing may be ready before the end of this year. Jonathan Sharpe

How to repair cracked concrete steps -
October 30, 2014 by
Mr HomeBuilder
Question: I am trying to get a lead on how to repair the steps that go from my kitchen sliding-glass door to my fenced-in patio. The steps have a big crack at the bottom. As a result, the steps are almost suspended from the house. Ive tried to get someone to come to my house for an estimate, but the places I called said my repair is too small for them. Where can I go?
Alexandria
Answer: Clayton Perry, business development manager for Concrete Jack, a concrete-leveling company based in Williamsburg (855-603-6321; http://www.concretejack.com), took a look at the picture you sent. The view isnt wide enough for him to see the whole picture, but the steps appear to be level. So his hunch is that the steps are stable. That means the patio must be sinking, a situation he finds frequently. Nine times out of 10, the underlying soil wasnt compacted right, he said. Another possibility is that you have a drainage problem that is washing away the base of the patio.
You could plug the gap by stuffing soil or a concrete mix under the steps. But if the patio has sunk, that would leave the drop between the bottom step and the patio greater than between the other steps. Even a relatively small difference in these distances creates a trip hazard, which is why the 2012 Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code allows only a three-eighths-inch difference in tread height. So the best solution is to raise the height of the patio.
The picture shows that your patio is brick. If the bricks rest on a concrete slab, Concrete Jack or another concrete-leveling company could inject something under the slab, raising it to the original height.
Concrete Jack, which uses high-density polyurethane foam or a sand-cement grout, has a minimum charge of $750 in Northern Virginia. A-1 Concrete Leveling Northern Virginia, based in Herndon (703-481-6868; http://www.a1concretelevelingnorthernvirginia.com), also does small jobs. It injects a crushed-stone slurry, typically for around $800 to $1,500, depending on the size of the job.
If the bricks rest on sand, the best solution is to pull them up and redo the base, making sure to compact it well before the bricks are reinstalled. Many landscapers are set up to do this.
Question: We put in a concrete driveway a dozen years ago that soon started chipping off. The contractor returned our money, but we are left with a driveway that is part crumbling concrete. Short of jackhammering it all up and starting over, what can we do to make this smooth and presentable?
Herndon
Answer: Unfortunately, there is no way to fix your driveway. Something clearly was wrong with the concrete mixture, such as too much water or too little cement. Surface spalling, which can be caused by ice damage, improper timing of troweling during construction or use of de-icers afterward, can be repaired by topping the concrete with an overlay that consists of cement, fine sand and a polymer, similar to white glue. But there is no cure when the damage goes deeper.
