Hydro-demolition is the controlled removal of concrete using high pressure, high speed water has several advantages over traditional air tool, machine mounted breakers.
1. Minimal vibration to the operator 2. No loose or damaged concrete on the edge of breakout area 3. No damage to steel reinforcing 4. Removal of concrete around dense reinforcing (impossible using air breakers) 5. Thorough washing / self cleaning of breakout area
The use of hydro-demolition seems to becoming more widespread amongst the construction industry, particularly within the civil engineering sector. The reasons listed above are the main factors for the increase in awareness of what is now a growing industry.
Sabre Jetting Services first hydro-demolition contract was completed successfully in 1989 for Edmund Nuttal. We now employ twelve operators who are permanently engaged in concrete demolition, completing contracts ranging in value from 850 to 500,000 making us the countries most experienced hydro-demolition contractor.
Due to the ability of our operatives, we are able to undertake projects of any nature ranging from intricate work such as bearing removal, to bulk projects such as parapet demolition. The skills of our workforce have been developed due to the many highly technical midland links contracts we have succesfully carried out as a key member of the area 9 partnering scheme.
Sabre Jetting Services is committed to being the number one hydro-demolition contractor in the United Kingdom. In order to achieve this we have invested heavily in our workforce and the equipment that we use. Our operators are highly trained including specialist in-house training which is not available elsewhere. Our operators also have access to an extensive fleet of Hammelmann jetting units which are unrivalled in terms of capability and reliability.
For our clients this means shorter programming, lower costs and maximum safety awareness. We are happy to offer a full hydro-demolition package on every project, including provision of water and, treatment of the run-off water. All of our high pressure pumps are sound attenuated reducing the noise impact of our operation and we are also able to provide sound attenuation blankets to encapsulate the jetting enclosure where required.
When carrying out hydro-demolition safety is of paramount importance. At Sabre Jetting Services we take the safety of our operators and anybody else that could come into contact with the operation extremely seriously. All of our equipment and PPE is serviced, tested or replaced using standards well above the manufacturers recommendations. We can guarantee our customers we only use the best equipment and PPE, identified using the vast experience gained over the last 30 years.
As leaders in the specialist industry of hydro-demolition we have developed our own safety procedures following the Water Jetting Association code of practice. Our POSH Procedures are a reminder to our operators of their duties on every site and will ensure that every single job we carry out is setup in the optimum way to ensure minimum risk. The acronym POSH stands for, Positioning of the jetting unit, Operation of the jetting unit, Hearing the jetting operation and Seeing the jetting enclosure. Keeping in mind these four key responsibilities means that our operators are perfectly prepared to deal with any potential emergency. If you have any queries regarding an upcoming hydro-demolition project, call us now on 0121 706 9801.

CLEARING. Sitio Mahayag, Barangay Subangdaku (foreground) is mostly clear of structures near the Mahiga Creek, which overflows during heavy rain. Sitio Mahusay across the bridge is next in line. (SUN.STAR PHOTO/ALLAN CUIZON)
THE Mandaue City Government started yesterday the demolition of 162 houses in Sitio Mahusay, Barangay Subangdaku, as part of efforts to move houses away from the banks of the Mahiga Creek.
The demolition in Sitio Mahusay follows a similar operation last Friday in Sitio Mahayag, just across a bridge, where 153 houses were cleared.
At least 34 families have decided to stay in Mahayag, where they have pitched tents, saying they want to negotiate with Mayor Jonas Cortes and cannot afford to pay for the relocation site the City has set aside in another barangay.
Other families in both sitios have decided to tear down their houses themselves, in order to save some planks and other materials.
Under Presidential Decree (PD) 772 and Republic Act (RA) 7279 (Urban and Housing Development Act of 1992), eviction and demolition are allowed when residents or structures occupy danger zone areas such as esteros, railroad tracks, garbage dumps, river banks, shorelines, waterways and other public places such as sidewalks, roads, parks and playgrounds.
Much time
The demolition of houses along Mahiga Creek is meant to protect lives and property, as well as prevent floods. The creek, choked by household waste and encroaching structures, often overflows during prolonged or heavy rains.
They have had so much time in their hands, said Carlo Ybaez, administrative officer of the Mandaue City Legal Office, in disputing comments from some residents that they didnt know about the scheduled demolition.

Kids play outside the buildings at Lee Walker Heights, the oldest public housing development in Asheville on Wednesday. Opened in 1949, the 96-unit complex on the South Slope of downtown houses about 240 people. The Housing Authority of the City of Asheville plans a complete transformation of the development, calling for relocating current residents, demolishing the existing buildings and rebuilding public housing mixed in with affordable and workforce housing. 10/22/14(Photo: PHOTOS BY Katie Bailey/CITIZEN-TIMES)
ASHEVILLE Lee Walker Heights was the citys first public housing development to open, and it will be the first to be torn down.
In the coming months, the Housing Authority of the City of Asheville plans to partner with a private developer to transform the isolated 96-unit housing complex at the end of Ashevilles South Slope near downtown. Plans call for relocating Lee Walkers 204 residents, demolishing and rebuilding all 96 of the town home units, then adding at least another hundred units to create a mixed-income, mixed-use development.
If the plans come together and the project has a lot of variables residents likely will move in 2016, with demolition and construction ensuing that same year.
Itll be the first time weve actually demoed a development and replaced it with a mixed-income development, keeping in mind that were bringing the residents back to the new development, said Gene Bell, CEO of the Housing Authority. So, thatd be a historic moment not for the bigger picture in the United States but it would be for Asheville.
Sitting next to him at HACAs South French Broad headquarters, Chief Operating Office David Nash added a quick caveat.
I would only qualify that by saying weve got a long way to go before we declare its a historical moment, he said. Theres a lot of of work and a lot of money that needs to be pulled together.
But plans are moving ahead for Lee Walker Heights, which opened in 1950 as a blacks-only public housing project on 11.5 acres off Short Coxe Avenue. The Housing Authority has narrowed its list of possible private developer partners to three, and it has held several community meetings with residents to keep them apprised of plans.
The city of Asheville and Duke Energy also are players in the deal. The city is committing to provide infrastructure improvements, in part by designating Lee Walker part of the South Slope Innovation District, meaning future infrastructure development in the area would be eligible for special obligation bond financing. Low-income tax credits and federal funding also could be in play, options the Housing Authority and its partner will explore.

This is the moment workers ran from an engulfing dust cloud moments after demolishing a Birmingham residential tower block.
The footage was caught by Mail reader Sharon Boland as Cornwall Tower in Heaton Street, Hockley, was brought crashing down on Sunday.
The video shows the eight-storey block of flats being demolished and four workers running as a dust cloud starts billowing towards them.
Billy Young, contracts manager for DSM Demolition Group, which carried out the controlled explosion, said: We were caught out a little bit by the high wind which was blowing down Heaton Street and four of us including myself ran away as it descended on us.
However, there was never any risk to the safety of the public.
"People who were watching were at a safe distance and were advised to turn their backs when the dust cloud reached them. It was a very successful controlled demolition.
Cornwall Tower is one of eight tower blocks earmarked for demolition as part of a Birmingham City Council 26 million housing demolition programme.
A council spokeswoman said: The purpose of the demolition is to improve the efficiency of council housing by removing properties with high future investment costs that will achieve savings.
"It will also improve the effectiveness of Council housing stock by creating opportunities for the development of new, affordable, high quality homes that better meets the current and future needs of the citizens of Birmingham and contribute to the creation of sustainable communities.

Five years ago Indiana custom builder, Hallmark Homes, was selected by the ABC show, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition to build a new home for Heather Cowan, now Heather Morgan, and her family in Bunker Hill, Indiana. Their previous mold-infected home was torn down and a new home was built to create a safer environment for her daughter Kori who was suffering from a congenital blood disease.
In a recent interview with the Kokomo Perspective Morgan stated, Theres not much that is the same about our life now. Our family was close before because we were working to save ourselves, and were close in a different way now where were working to help others. Were able to not focus on ourselves as much and turn around and help other families fighting the same fight that we fight. The family has been working to raise money for the iroK foundation to help other families and children suffering from blood diseases like Koris.
Hallmark Homes Owner, Paul Schwinghammer says, "Our relationship with Heather remains strong and we talk frequently. It's fun to watch her kids progress and see how the whole experience has changed their lives for the better. It's a thrill to see the iroK Foundation prosper and benefit so many other families. They truly have paid it forward."
Hallmark Homes is forever thankful for the community wide effort from individuals and businesses to do whatever it took to complete this home for such a deserving family.
In our recent conversation with Morgan she wanted us to share her thanks. "So many people did so much. I know I haven't thanked everyone out there. Our goal is to tell everybody how thankful we are."

We have had many requests for installation instructions and/or owner's manuals for certain model ceiling fans. However, in most cases, assembling and installing a fan is very standard. Most fans have very similar parts and therefore are put together in much the same way.
It should be noted that it is recommended the outlet box/and or support be rated for a weight greater than the actual weight of the fan. You also have to factor in the centrifugal force of the rotating blades, and allow for any vibrations, etc. A fan that weighs 25lbs or so is usually recommended to have a support rated for 30-40lbs or more. But in any case, in order to have a legal installation, the fan (and outlet box) should be attached to ceiling joist or rated fan brace. If the outlet box is loose or unsupported you will need to brace it further.
Anyone with a bit of mechanical and electrical aptitude should have no problem installing a fan. However if you are in a situation where there is not already an existing power supply and support, you might want to call a professional if you are not comfortable and knowledgeable working in this area.
1. Some pieces of the fan require assembly before hanging. Attach the blades to the blade brackets. In the case of a downrod fan, slip the canopy over the downrod and attach the downrod to the fan. In the case of a close mount (not hugger) fan, attach the canopy directly to the motor. In some cases you may want to attach the light fitter (should one apply) to the motor before assembly, in other cases it will be easier to attach once the fan is on the ceiling. Some fans also require the switch housing be plugged in and attached. In any case, at this point the fan should consist of 3 or 4 types of pieces: the motor assembly, the mounting bracket, the blades, and, if applicable, the light attachments.
2. Attach the mounting bracket to the fan brace and/or ceiling outlet box.
3. Hang the motor assembly from the mounting bracket. In some cases this will be via a small hook, in other cases the ball on the end of the downrod will fit directly in the bracket. Be sure the groove in the ball lines up with the tab in the bracket and/or canopy.
4. Connect the wires. Refer to the Ceiling Fan Wiring Guide for more information.
5. Attach the canopy to the mounting bracket. In the case of some fans this may be 2 thumbscrews on the bottom, others may have as many as four screws on the side. In close-mount fans and some downrod fans the canopy is load bearing, in other cases it is purely decorative. In downrod fans be sure the ball is (still) lined up with the tab in the bracket/canopy. If the canopy has a decorative ring to cover the screws, attach that.
5a. For hugger fans, attach the motor to the mounting bracket, in most cases with four locknuts (some fans may vary). Attach the motor housing cover to the mounting bracket (usually with four screws).
6. Attach the blades to the motor via the blade brackets. Each blade bracket uses two screws which fit directly to the motor or the flywheel.

Hi Folks,
I just wanted to share how I removed blood stains on the carpet. It all happened when the patient vomited lots of blood around her bed, on the carpet and most of the parts of her room. After few hours, the patient died of gastroentestinal problems, I believe. Im not sure on that one. I do not even have the rights to know. Anyway, I was tapped to do that tasks. This happens most of the times in the hospital or care home setting. So, I hope you learn something from this.. :):)

Clean-Slate Janitorial Services (http://www.Clean-Slate.ca), a Greater Toronto Area-based professional cleaning company that specializes in commercial office cleaning, retail maintenance, floor restoration, carpet cleaning, and construction site cleanup, is weighing in on how retailers should retain commercial cleaning services in Toronto this winter.
Salt is one of the biggest obstacles to maintaining a clean carpet, and with the snowfall expected to be heavy again this year, retailers may face a constant flow of boots that carry the snow and salt into their store throughout the day, says Sam Panousis, owner and operator of Clean-Slate Janitorial Services. Its an unavoidable situation, but part of ones job as a retailer is to welcome customers into the store, and with customers comes the salt and dirt they bring in from the outside. Of course, the more customers, the more sales, so its actually a good problem to have.
Panousis explains that salt left unattended on a carpet turns into white salt stains that become difficult to remove and can actually cause long-term damage to a carpet. Thats why the only way for retailers to consistently keep their carpet clean is to hire professional cleaning services in Toronto.
An experienced office cleaning company like Clean-Slate will work with retailers to maintain the look and condition of their carpets, he adds. This is particularly important if the carpet is near the entrance, where people first come in.
Panousis observes that first impressions are something all retailers have to deal with, and that the first judgement consumers make isnt of the products inside the store, but of the business cleanliness and overall aesthetic. And if a store isnt clean, it will impact customers experience and purchasing behavioura concern that tends to be more prevalent in the winter.
Retailers try their best to create a memorable shopping experience for their customers, and part of our job offering commercial cleaning services in Toronto is to do our part to add to that experience, Panousis concludes. Thats why we at Clean-Slate Janitorial Services offer effective cleaning services in Toronto this winter that include carpet and window cleaning, among several other services.
Clean-Slate Janitorial Services has been serving commercial customers in the Greater Toronto Area, including downtown Toronto, Vaughan, Mississauga, Brampton, and Markham, for eight years. Services provided by Clean-Slate Janitorial Services include commercial office cleaning, retail management and janitorial services, floor restoration and buffing, carpet cleaning, window and blind cleaning, and construction site cleanup.
