Maker of Oreo, Ritz, Trident, Honey Maid & Sour Patch Kids Become Official Snacks of MLS - March 20, 2015 by Mr HomeBuilder

March 19, 2015 - Major League Soccer (MLS) East Hanover, N.J. and New York, NY (March 19, 2015) - More big names are coming to Major League Soccer this season - and they're hungry to get in on the action.

Mondelz International, the maker of OREO, RITZ, TRIDENT, HONEY MAID and SOUR PATCH KIDS, today announced a multi-year deal to become the Official Snacks of MLS. The sponsorship bolsters the brands' presence in the sport as they enter the second year of the #PassTheLove campaign, a fully integrated program to help spread the passion for soccer coast to coast.

"MLS has played an enormous role in the explosion of soccer in America, and we're excited about how this great league and its fans can help us #PassTheLove," said Stephen Chriss, Senior Director, North America Consumer Engagement and Marketing Services at Mondelz International. "Our MLS sponsorship opens even more avenues to reinforce how our snacks increase the fun of soccer whether you're at the stadium, watching on TV or playing the game."

The designation of Official Snacks of MLS extends to the cookie, candy, cracker and gum categories and will be inclusive of a series of globally-recognized brands operated by Mondelz International, including: OREO, CHIPS AHOY, RITZ, WHEAT THINS, HONEY MAID, NEWTONS, BELVITA, TRIDENT, DENTYNE, STRIDE and SOUR PATCH KIDS, among others.

The deal with MLS includes all forms of media, retail, shopper marketing, consumer promotions, PR and social media. The sponsorship includes rights to activate at the AT&T MLS All-Star Game and MLS Cup, MLS' championship game, and to align with current players and other league ambassadors. Deal terms were negotiated in conjunction with CAA Sports Consulting (on behalf of Mondelz International) and Soccer United Marketing.

    An Exciting Opportunity

MLS has kicked off its 20th season with more momentum than ever, including new national television and media rights partnerships, expansion clubs in key markets including New York and Orlando, and scheduling changes to increase fan excitement and anticipation as teams compete to win MLS Cup.

Mondelz International recognizes the enormous potential to leverage the league's growing stature with a broad range of consumers - including multicultural audiences - whether it's in-store or through innovative digital media executions.

"By tapping into the excitement surrounding MLS and soccer, we're giving our snack brands amazing opportunities to appeal to moms, dads, teens and athletes in their communities," said Chriss. "And this sponsorship strengthens our relevance with multicultural consumers, many of whom love soccer and identify with brands like ours who have made an authentic, long-term commitment to the sport."

"It's always great to partner with companies that have a true passion for soccer, and Mondelz International understands the potential of our league and our sport to resonate with consumers and fans," said David Wright, Senior Vice President, Global Partnerships, Soccer United Marketing. "Unveiling this new sponsorship with globally recognized brands is yet another great way to begin our 20th season."

Good "Connections" Help Turn Shanghai Expat Into Landscape Architect For Asia's Rich - March 20, 2015 by Mr HomeBuilder

(Note: This is a guest post by Hilary Flannery)

Dwight Law didnt come out to Asia because he was enraptured with the culture of the Orient Orient. It was a fluke.

Laws undergraduate days in the U.S. stretched out longer than expected. He was ready to wrap up a degree in landscape architecture from California Polytechnic State University San Luis Obispo in 1993 when a planned study trip abroad was scrapped because of political tumult in South America. Laws extended college enrollment landed him a seat on a study trip the following year to a different part of the world: Asia. I never planned to stay, he recalled in an interview.

Yet Law changed his mind about leaving. The Kansan took a job at U.S. landscape architecture design firm Belt Collins in Singapore. When the Asia financial crisis hit in 1997, his layoff in 1998 became a career turning point. Law took the plunge as an entrepreneur, co-founding a company in the Southeast Asian financial hub that added 30 landscape architects in three years. The work kept coming as rivals squeezed by Asias economic pain closed.

His success put him on the radar of Hong Kong businessman Vincent Lo. Best known back then as a cement supplier , Lo was launching a historically flavored nightlife real estate project in Shanghai, Xintiandi, that many saw as misguided at a time when fast money was to be made in packed-in residential towers. Today, Xintiandi is a city icon visited by thousands daily that has helped turn Lo into a billionaire, ranking No. 1,118 on the 2015 Forbes Billionaires List with an estimated fortune worth $1.7 billion. Law, through his landscaping architecture help at Xintiandi, was eventually offered more work in China by Lo. That led to a life-changing decision to relocate to Shanghai.

It was the first in a career of enviable twists in China: Law has consistently found work from businesses owned by Asias richest people. Besides Lo, he has done four Shanghai projects for Malaysian billionaire Robert Kuoks Kerry Properties, as well as another commercial project in the city for trend-setting Soho China, owned by Beijing billionaires Zhang Xin and Pan Shiyi. Among others, Law has also worked in China for Hong Kong billionaire Peter Woos

American landscape architect Dwight Law has build up a successful business in Shanghai.

Marco Polo Hotel chain. Lawssuccessesfor business elites has also helped him win high-profile Shanghai government projects, including the redesign of the garden at Xujiahui Church and creation of Donghu Park in front of a home of the citys famous pre-revolution city gangster Pockmark Tu.

He is comfortable designing great public places in uber-urban Shanghai, and equally at home working on a resort deep in a bamboo forest and tea terraced mountains in rural China, says U.S. architect and frequent Law collaborator Ben Wood. The two have been fortunate, Wood says, to be on a yellow brick road to fame and fortune in a country undergoing the greatest urbanization in the history of mankind.

Battlefield Excavating provides excavating, landscaping and equipment rentals to people and businesses in Grimsby, Ontario, and the surrounding Hamilton region. Lets be honest, landscaping and gardening is a chore for many homeowners. While some people relish the opportunity to spend time in their yard pulling weeds, pruning hedges, and planting flowers, other people dread the landscaping and gardening that accompanies spring each year. Each project undertaken by Battlefield Excavating starts with a landscape design. Whether it is a garden, patio stones, or interlocking brick, the experienced crew at Battlefield Excavating first takes times to sit down with each customer and map out their project getting the details right and setting a firm budget to complete the job. Charlotte NC Landscape Design, Custom Pools – Coogan’s … - March 20, 2015 by Mr HomeBuilder

Brian, We just wanted you to know how pleased we are with the front yard landscaping-it is absolutely beautiful! The transformation is astounding. Thanks again.Dell and Mark

Jed and Brian, I got home last night-everything looks great! Beyond the great work ethic, responsiveness and flexibility your team exhibited, we were specifically impressed with the consistent, professional and timely communication we received from you. Not once did we feel we had a reason to worry. Thanks for helping us create exactly what we wanted!Roland and Heather DuBois

Instead of looking out at our tired nondescript landscape, I now am greeted with a beautiful area with a small curved bridge, winding brick walkways, and a stone wall with lots of interesting plantings. It's like it has all been done for my pleasure...and I guess it has. Tom, thanks for your creativity, your great work and the terrific results.John Schwabacher

We greatly valued Coogan's ability to do a wide range of services and a turn-key job. We were impressed with the fact that they can handle any job without limitations and with their focus on getting it done right...they have a great reputation in Charlotte. Their designer was not afraid to address problems and was quick to come up with good solutions.Kenny and Karen Jones

Coogan's Landscape really listened to what we wanted during the design phase and then they made sure the installation met their high company standards as well as our expectations. They took the time to make sure that everything looked great and was correct before the project was complete.Robert Verrone

Coogan's Landscape was wonderful. When the pool was finished it was beyond anything we ever imagined! We love our tropical paradise!Tim and Jennifer Smith

Wow! It feels great to have this beautiful place to retreat to and it's all mine. Thank you. We are thrilled with what you've done!Valerie Jones

Bill and I were very pleased with the outcome of our entire backyard project. We chose Coogans because their landscape architect really listened to what we wanted to accomplish in our backyard. We voiced all our concerns and they were not only met, but exceeded. What was once an unusable space in the summer has become our favorite area to hang out!Maureen and Bill Bigham

Raphael and all of the gentlemen who work with you, are professional, courteous and patient. Please let them know how much I appreciate their efforts in creating the peaceful beauty I see every day from inside and outside my home.Linda Matney

Coogans ability to create the perfect outdoor living area is best in class. We completed our second project with Coogan last year. Tom is great to work with, from thinking through potential design concepts to taking the project through completion. Lawrence Faccini

Jamie Durie sells Bilgola house for $3.8 million - March 20, 2015 by Mr HomeBuilder

Jamie Durie has sold his Bilgola house for $3.8 million after dropping the price.

Landscape-designer-turned-reality-host Jamie Durie has sold his Bilgola home for about $3.8 million after he dropped his initial price hopes of beating the suburb record.

Durie built the dramatic residence as a collaboration with the designer and architect Walter Barda, and features luxury add-ons such as a sauna, gym, yoga room, pool and rooftop deck. Durie had also included his signature vertical and suspended gardens.

Having bought the 614-square-metre property in 2003 for $1.3 million, Durie listed it last September with initial hopes of topping the suburb's non-beachfront record of $4.4 million set in 2013 for a house on Bilgola Avenue.

Before the property was sold the listing agents Ken Jacobs, of Christie's International, and Bill Eames, of LJ Hooker Avalon, dropped the asking price to $3.75 million-plus. Neither agent would disclose the sale result, leaving it to a source to reveal the result.

Durie offloaded the house because of his growing commitments in the United States, where his new series Outback Nation starts next month.

The sale coincides with a price adjustment on another Bilgola property, the Iain Halliday-redesigned Stone House, owned by liquidator Ian Ferrier and Joanne May who first listed it in November also with hopes of topping the $4.4 million suburb record.

The 1927-built sandstone house was bought by Ferrier and May, the mother of hotelier Ben May, in 2001 for $2.1 million, and the adjoining 1200 square metres added the following year for $725,000.
