NYC-based interior designer Alex Papachristidis bares his Manhattan apartment for Elle Decor this month and it's a lot to take in: the 2,000-square-foot space manifests as a loud exclamation of his apparent obsessions with, among other things, flora, fauna, jewel tones, and chinoiserie. The designer, an avid fan of the late maximalist American designer Tony Duquette, gutted the three-bedroom Upper East Side home before filing it up again with no limitations on palettes or patterns whatsoever.
Papchristidis upholstered every sofa, chair, and wall in the home. His library, for example, has velvet walls, lampshades trimmed in batik tablecloths, and a sofa covered in nine different fabrics. And then there are all the antique accents, including a 19th-century Indian mirror and an early 20th-century Chinese cabinet, to name a few. See the full set of photos at Elle Decor.

Scent styling, or creating a curated fragrance for your space, is a trend that's gaining traction in the decor world. Airlines and hotels are also onboard with the idea of customization. Delta sprays "calm"alavender and chamomile mixture in its cabins, while boutique hotelWestHousein NYC hasa signature bespoke fragrance made for the bedroom suites by branding firm 12.29 scent.
While businesses often spring for high-tech systems to create a unique experience for patrons, achieving luxury air is easy to doat home with the help of affordable systems like the newly releasedUnstopables collection, which includes air fresheners, candles, fabric refreshers, plug-ins and in-wash scent boosters to elevate your environment and wardrobe.

At the brand's launch last month, interior designerNate Berkus and luxury perfumer Carlos Huber shared their top three tips for creating your signature scent:
1. Be Bold
Believe it or not, smell is heavily linked to emotion and memory. "I still remember what my grandmother's house smelt like when I was a kid," Berkus shared. "The best interiors over timethe classic, renegade breakout stars of interior designhave always been when people took risks, and the risks were based on personalization." Being bold with your choices differentiates your taste and allows another layer of personality into your life.
Huber, creator of Arquiste Parfumeur, suggests thinking of scent styling as a fragrance wardrobe for your home. Just as you have different perfumes that evoke various feelings when worn, you have different spaces with different uses that deserve the same attention. "Ithink you can actually mix and match from these sort of layers that youre adding and give each room a different feeling and a different function," he says.
2. Make a Space Your Own

U.S. Rep. Aaron Schock, 33, a Republican from Peoria, Illinois, said Tuesday that he would resign following weeks of revelations about business deals and lavish spending. Here is a timeline of key events leading up to his resignation:
Feb. 2: The Washington Post reports that an interior decorator donated her services to redo Schock's congressional office in the style of TV show "Downton Abbey," despite House rules that broadly prohibit members of Congress from accepting gifts or services valued at more than $50.
Feb. 4: Nonpartisan watchdog group Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) requests inquiry by Office of Congressional Ethics.
Feb. 9: CREW calls on Office of Congressional Ethics to investigate whether Schock broke federal law and House rules when he sold a home to a campaign donor for three times its assessed value.
Feb. 19: USA Today reports that Schock might have violated House rule and federal law by spending taxpayer and campaign funds on unauthorized aircraft.
Feb. 23: The Associated Press reports that Schock spent taxpayer and campaign funds for at least 12 flights worth more than $40,000 aboard private planes owned by key donors, tracking the flights partly through photos and videos uploaded to the congressman's Instagram account. The AP also reported on expensive travel and entertainment charges, including for a massage company and to take his interns to a sold-out Katy Perry concert. Schock says he's begun reviewing office procedures and hires top lawyers and public relations experts.
Feb. 25: CREW asks congressional investigators to examine whether Schock violated house ethics rules governing private travel.
Feb. 27: AP reports that Schock personally reimburses government $40,000 for office renovations.
March 1: The Chicago Sun-Times reports that Schock improperly billed taxpayers more than $1,200 to travel to a Chicago Bears football game in November.
March 2: The AP reports that Schock billed taxpayers at least three times for more than $14,000 in private air travel last fall, including for trip to Bears game. Those charges are in addition to $40,000 worth of flights reported on Feb. 23.
