Family upset over gravestones used in Vancouver retaining wall - March 10, 2015 by Mr HomeBuilder

WATCH: Eight headstones are being used as a retaining wall in Vancouver. But as Jill Bennett reports, the story isnt exactly what it seemed

When Rena Del Pieve Gobbi created a garden in East Vancouver, she had no idea it would be so controversial. It was built a few years ago to provide a little green spacein a heavy industrial area near Commercial Dr. and Powell St., but concerns are being raised about the gravestones that surround it.

I knew that these werent on someones grave or anything and it was obvious that they were something that the stoneyard had discarded, says Del Pieve Gobbi of the headstones that are being used as a retaining wall.

While there is nothing illegal about using gravestones in that manner, some family members of the deceased are not happy about it.

Peggy Matheson of Campbell River says she would like to have the gravestonesof her parentsMargaret and Albert Lippcovered up or removed completely.

The real headstones of two of the garden markers are located at Vancouvers Mountain View Cemetery. Manager Glen Hodges says records suggest the ones at the East Vancouver garden might be discarded copies from W.R. Chandler, a gravestone making company that is no longer in business.

Del Pieve Gobbi spoke to Matheson by phone today to explain she never meant to upset anyone.

If people are upset about it and want me to remove it, Ill try do that, she says. If people are OK with it staying here, I will definitely continue to garden it and put in fresh plants and treat it with reverence.

The mystery of where the gravestones came from appears to be solved, but theres another twist: one was stolen from the garden sometime in the last couple of days. Its unclear who removed it or why.

Decks cleared for Sun-Ranbaxy merger - March 10, 2015 by Mr HomeBuilder

After high court nod, the deal is expected to close soon; shares of both companies end in green on the day Sensex fell 600 points

The High Court of Punjab & Haryana has approved the $4 billion merger of Ranbaxy Laboratories with Sun Pharmaceutical Industries, clearing the last hurdle in creating the fifth largest generic company globally by sales.

Post announcement, Sun Pharma closed up 0.41% at Rs 1,041.65 a share and Ranbaxy 1.27% at Rs 815.90 a share on Monday over previous close. Despite Sensex falling over 600 points, or 2.09%, most pharma stocks were in green with a marginal increase in their share prices. The healthcare index too closed up 0.30%.

A statement issued by both Sun and Ranbaxy on BSE, said that the High Court of Punjab & Haryana on March 9, 2015 orally pronounced an order, approving the scheme of arrangement involving merger of Ranbaxy Laboratories with Sun Pharmaceutical Industries under Sections 391 to 394, Sections 78 and 100 of the Companies Act, 1956 and Section 52 of the Companies Act, 2013.

The statement said the certified true copy of the said order is being awaited.

In January this year, the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) gave its nod for the merger. Last December, the fair trade watchdog Competition Commission of India (CCI) had approved the merger with a rider that the two companies will have to hive off seven brands as it may have an adverse effect on competition in India.

Under the deal, Sun will acquire 100% of Ranbaxy in an all-stock transaction worth $4 billion including Ranbaxy's debt of around $800 million. Under the deal terms, Ranbaxy shareholders will get 0.8 Sun Pharma share for each Ranbaxy share held. The deal values Ranbaxy shares at Rs 457 apiece, a premium of 18% to the 30-day volume-weighted average share price, and a premium of 24.3% to Ranbaxy's 60-day volume weighted average share price, as on April 4, 2014.

According to a pharma analysts, both Sun and Ranbaxy shares are up only marginally. Most pharma stocks have gained despite the market being down 600 points. That's because pharma stocks are defensive and are a safe haven. This stocks give steady return, so investors looking with a long-term outlook prefer such stocks, said a pharma analyst, adding that the physical order of approval from the court should come in the next few days, with the closure of the deal now expected soon.

Pharma analyst Hitesh Mahida of Antique Stock Broking, said, The pharma stocks are largely defensive stocks. No other reason for marginal increase in stock prices of pharma companies. However, there is a positive sentiment regarding pharma stocks, which is another reason for them to be in green.

SERVPRO and ATRS Collaborate on Neighborhood Cleanup in Oklahoma City - March 10, 2015 by Mr HomeBuilder

    (PRWEB) March 09, 2015

A HUD renovation of a housing apartment complex in Oklahoma City is the newest site of a green community cleanup in Oklahoma City. The 30-unit apartment home complex is being cleared out over the next few weeks by SERVPRO. The nationwide company specializes in disaster response, water and fire damage renovation and mold remediation, and took over this project at the beginning of March.

ATRS Recyclers were placed on site to collect abandoned recyclable clothing, shoes, toys, bedding and all other household textile materials.

Several other area businesses from the environmental sector responded to collaborate on the cleanup initiative and ensure that leftover home goods do not end up in the trash. Textiles, electronics and home appliances are amongst the many items that will be collected by onsite work crews and diverted from Oklahoma City landfill. This is a great example of community collaboration to properly reuse, repurpose and recycle salvageable goods.

Within one week ATRS Recycling has recovered close to 1000 lbs. of textile material that will be given a second life. All textile items abandoned by former residents are being collected and classified by fiber and type. Unusual items found in the apartments range from 35 pairs of miscellaneous baby shoes to microwaves and other kitchen appliances that were uncovered as the apartment homes were combed through one by one.

ATRS Recycling projects that another 1000 lbs. of recyclable textile material will be recovered from these homes before the completion of the clean up at the end of the week.

"We are excited to partner with American Textile Recycling Service on this clean out," says Jed Boersma, Business Development Manager at SERVPRO. "We are passionate about providing resources to those in need and keeping more waste out of landfills."

ATRS Clothing & Shoe Recyclers are located throughout the State of Oklahoma and provide year round drop-off points for gently used, outgrown and unwanted clothing, shoes, toys and household textiles. Each recycler benefits local charities like Mothers Against Drunk Driving. Every pound collected is weighed and provides an ongoing monthly stream of revenue for local programs and services.

To find a recycler near you, call the 24-Hour Hotline at 866.900-9308 or visit the ATRS Company Site.
