Local resident Dan Joyce is bringing complete home care services to Canada through his new business, TruBlue Total House Care. This is the first TruBlue franchise in the country.

I was born with a screwdriver in my hand and, in my teens and 20s, I built houses. On a cold night in Alberta, I decided to go back to school and start my career in IT sales and sales management. Ive been doing that for a long time, but last summer, I decided it was time for a change, Dan said.

Knowing that he loved to work with his hands and help with home repairs, Dan looked into working as a handyman and even owning a handyman franchise before coming across TruBlue. Since there were no TruBlue franchises in Canada and the company combined the handyman idea with other home care services, it created the perfect opportunity for Dan to bring the company into a new area and launch his own business. Dan lives in Aurora and his office is located in Richmond Hill.

Sheriff Benny Deloach would like to report the following incidents handled by deputies with the Appling County Sheriffs Office over the past few days.

Feb. 19, answered a call to Noah Lane in reference to threats and theft. The complainant stated her estranged husband made threats and took two guns that belonged to their son.

Feb. 20, answered a call to Appling ER in reference to possible child molestation. Investigation revealed allegations occurred in Jeff Davis County. DFACS was notified and the case was turned over to Jeff Davis County Sheriffs Office.

Feb. 20, answered a call to North Brobston Street, which led to the arrest of Tony Lee Gillis, 51, of Baxley. Gillis was charged with public drunkenness.

Feb. 21, answered a call to Gardner Road in reference to possible child abuse. DFACS was notified and Investigation continues.

Feb. 21, answered a call to Nail Road in reference to a structure fire. The complainant found his metal storage building on fire. The County Farm Fire Department responded and extinguished the fire.

Feb. 22, answered a call to Hatch Parkway in reference to a domestic/assault, which led to the arrest of Stephanie Leigh Green, 30, of Baxley. Green was charged with battery/family violence.

Feb. 22, answered a call to Hatch Parkway in reference to a possible child molestation. The DFACS was notified and is under investigation.

Feb. 23, answered a call to Golden Isles West in reference to a theft. A complainant stated someone stole his 8ft. smoker valued at $2,000. Investigation continues.

Feb. 24, answered a call to Earl Cauley Road in reference to illegal dumping. The complainant found two bags of trash dumped on his property. Investigation led to citation being issued to violator, and trash being picked up.

There are generally three types of graduate degree programs:

The first-professional Master of Landscape Architecture (MLA) is for persons who hold an undergraduate degree in a field other than landscape architecture, and intend to become landscape architecture practitioners. It can usually be earned in three years of full-time study.

The second-professional Master of Landscape Architecture (MLA) is for persons who hold an undergraduate professional degree in landscape architecture. It normally takes two years.

KUALA LUMPUR, March 4 (Bernama) -- While the heavy rainfall in Kelantan between Dec 22 and 24, 2014 was enough to inundate the state, other factors such as logging is said to have aggravated the situation further.

The expanse of land that have been cleared is evident when viewed from land, water or above.

The writers upon arriving in Gua Musang and Kuala Krai witnessed timber lorries on the public road at all hours, putting the lives of motorists in danger.

Despite claims by various parties that logging activities have ceased to exist in Kelantan, how come the lorries still operate in these two districts?

During the 10 days stay there, the writers witnessed lorries laden with timber making their way through the town area.

Even local resident Shamsuddin Yaacob, 57, admitted to this. The clerk who works at a school in Gua Musang would meet-up with friends after work at the coffee shop next to the main road heading to Kuala Krai and that is when he would see the timber lorries.

"Many lorries pass by here. I don't know where they are headed but I worry something bad will happen and that the roads will be damaged by their heavy load," he said.

Rubber tapper Ahmad Tarmizi, 31, said the timber lorries were driven at high speeds and its drivers were rude and used profanities when anyone confronted them.

"We are also suspicious of some of the lorries as they are overloaded and the long logs are not marked with red cloth at the potruding end," he said.
