An elderly woman was ordered to sit down while a group of men burgled her Palgrave home.

The woman, in her 80s, was about to go to bed around 10pm on Thursday, March 26 when she heard glass smashing and saw four of five men entering her home in Crossing Road through the patio doors.

All wore dark clothing and facial coverings. One, described as about 6ft tall and of large build, spoke to her, in an English accent, and told her to sit down. He stayed with her while the other males searched her home and a short time later all the males left.

The woman was unhurt but a quantity of jewellery is believed to have been stolen.

Police were alerted a short time after the men had left and began enquiries.

Detectives are asking anyone who may have seen any suspicious activity in the area around this time or anyone with information about those involved to call Suffolk Police on 101, quoting crime number ST/15/925.
