HERNDON, Va., Oct. 23, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- U.S. Army Sustainment Command (ASC) awarded Northrop Grumman Corporation (NOC) a basic ordering agreement for the Enhanced Army Global Logistics Enterprise (EAGLE) on Sept. 12. The agreement allows the company to compete for future task orders from the ASC.
EAGLE is an indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity (ID/IQ) contract vehicle the Army will use for maintenance, supply and transportation support functions required by the ASC. EAGLE's ceiling value is $23.5 billion. Northrop Grumman was one of a number of defense companies that won agreements to compete under the vehicle.
"Winning a seat on EAGLE is an important enabler for our support to the U.S. Army warfighter," said Bill Carty, sector vice president and general manager, Northrop Grumman Technical Services Defense and Government Services division. "This selection further strengthens Northrop Grumman's position as a provider of innovative logistics and affordable service solutions to the Army."
EAGLE is a new contract vehicle that is expected to replace present ID/IQ vehicles, including Field and Installation Readiness Support Teams, for which Northrop Grumman is a prime contractor. The Army will use EAGLE to assign sustainment services to include the maintenance and reset of equipment, supply chain management and vehicle sustainment and logistics operations.
"As the leading provider of vehicle sustainment operations and logistics to the Army for more than 35 years, we understand the value of performance in sustaining vehicles used by our nation's warfighters to successfully complete their mission," said Steve Mapley, EAGLE program manager, Northrop Grumman Technical Services. "Our experience sustaining and modernizing the Army's combat and tactical wheeled vehicle fleets results in affordable, innovative processes that ensure mission readiness."
Northrop Grumman is a leading global security company providing innovative systems, products and solutions in unmanned systems, cybersecurity, C4ISR, and logistics and modernization to government and commercial customers worldwide. WABASH, Ind., Oct. 17, 2012 /PRNewswire/ --Thermafiber has released a new light fixture protection kit for the commercial building market. FixtureShield kits are made from rigid Thermafiber mineral wool boards. The new, patented light-weight design reduces installation time, offers energy saving R-value and improved sound control. FixtureShield is UL approved and listed in several fire-rated floor/ceiling and roof/ceiling assemblies.
"The new FixtureShield kits are a much better design than historical approaches," says Michael Williams, Executive Vice President. "The new kits install faster and easier than traditional gypsum or ceiling tile enclosures. Many building owners, local code officials and contractors don't realize that the IBC code requires light fixtures be protected in fire-rated gypsum and suspended ceilings. FixtureShield is not only a great solution to keep buildings code compliant, it also represents a significant labor savings to the contractor."
Fire protection is a critical element for ceilings in both the 2009 and 2012 versions of the IBC code. Any penetration of a fire-rated ceiling must be protected so that the entire ceiling assembly will not be compromised. While providing passive fire protection, the FixtureShield kits also create a functional enclosure that controls sound and conserves energy by reducing the loss of heating and cooling. Controlling sound is an important consideration in schools, hospitals, multi-family housing and offices. Acoustic testing has demonstrated FixtureShield's ability to improve the sound rating of ceilings with light fixtures.
FixtureShield kits are available for standard 2'x2' and 2'x4' light fixtures. Custom kits are also available for non-standard light sizes, can lights and speakers. For more information, visit http://www.thermafiber.com/fixtureshield.
