Although the aesthetic works in every room of the house, the kitchen may be the to implement Scandi design principles, from painting the walls to stocking the pantry. Whether youre ready to go all-in with the Scandinavian style or looking for ways to give your kitchen a quick refresh for the season, there are a few main principles to keep in mindthe materials you use, how to fill your cupboards, and more. Heres all you need to know about achieve a Scandi kitchen.

    Lincoln Barbour

The name of the Scandinavian design game is functionalityin every sense. Even though the aesthetic is clean-cut and nice to look at, it rests on the idea that form should never compromise functionality, Brantmark says.

Scandi kitchens are minimalistic, and every item has a purpose. This goes for functional kitchen items like appliances and utensils and for the design choices. You should even select the color scheme with intention and purpose.

"The beauty is in the simplicity," Brantmark says.

If you're designing your kitchen from scratch, think carefully about your regular kitchen use and go from theremake sure every task has a designated place that makes sense to you. If youre just tweaking your space a bit, dont be afraid to rearrange. If you have unused, awkward, or cluttered places in your kitchen, nows the time to set them straightits the Scandi way.

When it comes to which colors and materials to go with, just look outside. Scandinavian design relies heavily on natural elements: muted colors and patterns, repurposed wood, and touches of green throughout.

Scandinavians are drawn to nature and like to use natural materials such as wood, stone, and linen, as well as earthy tones, which draw nature indoors, Brantmark says.

Add houseplants, but take it one step further by using natural elements in every nook and crannywooden cabinets and islands, bamboo kitchen equipment, and woven light fixtures and placemats will make your Scandi kitchen shine.

To master Scandi designs simplistic nature, you need to take the clutter down a notch, Brantmark says. This way, you minimize waste and keep the kitchen as efficient as possible.

Have a good declutter so you can more easily see and find the cooking essentials and food items you have so that nothing goes to waste, she says.

The long-term solution to clutter isnt simply getting rid of things, though. Instead, minimize your clutter while installing smart storage solutionsdisplay what brings you joy and hide the messier items. Simplicity is the goal.

Work with natural, well-made materials that will stand the test of time and create a mix of open and closed storage to ensure a perfect balance between clutter-free and relaxed."

    Niki Brantmark

Your kitchen wont be fully functional if youre struggling to seeand though radiant, natural lighting is ideal in a Scandi kitchen, it isnt always reality. If you didn't luck out with floor-to-ceiling windows, adequate task lighting will make your time in the kitchen more pleasant.

Ensure good task lighting for a highly functional kitchen no matter the season and time of day, Brantmark says.

Experiment with a mixture of standing lamps and overhead lighting to ensure every part of your kitchen is well-lit year round. When those dim winter evenings come around, youll be glad for the extra brightness.

Scandi-style mindfulness and practicality dont stop at your cooking spacethey extend to the pantry as well. Just as you want to channel functionality in every surface, appliance, and material you introduce to your Scandi kitchen, be intentional with how you stock the cupboards too.

Work with in-season, locally-produced food to create dishes that are full of flavor and fill your kitchen with the scents of the season, Brantmark says.

The Showstopping Countertop Material That Will Give Your Home The Most Luxurious Feel – House Digest - January 13, 2024 by Mr HomeBuilder

There's no doubt that even the lower-end priced onyx countertops make a statement. They often have bold colors or swirling patterns that help give them a dramatic look. The aesthetics can be versatile enough for a bathroom that's focused on luxury and relaxation or in the kitchen when you want an ultra-modern, showstopping space to entertain. When you design your countertops to be underlit or even backlit, you'll see more of the deep veining and detail that makes onyx so reliably beautiful. This translucency is unique among most natural stone countertops, making it a stunning option to place on your wet bar or as a fireplace mantel.

There are other benefits to using onyx in your home, including that, as a natural stone, it's going to last for years to come. Though it requires some maintenance, you can expect this stone to endure, with some products lasting a century or longer. At the same time, it's also lighter in weight than what you may expect from marble, granite, or other types of natural stone countertops. That means you may need less overall support for it and can put it on a wider variety of cabinetry, such as those that may be lighter in weight themselves. It may also be a bit easier to manage if you are trying to install it yourself (though it's best to let a pro handle this type of highly valuable stone).

Cost of Kitchen CabinetsEverything You Need to Know – Real Simple - January 5, 2024 by Mr HomeBuilder

Whether youre building a new house, remodeling a house you already own, or tackling projects before selling your house, the condition of your kitchen cabinets can drastically affect the entire look of the space. Next to your appliances, cabinets are the largest items in the kitchen, so the eye is immediately drawn to them.

Sometimes, existing cabinets can be salvaged, but when theyre beyond repair or severely outdated for your tastes, youll probably want to replace them. According to the 2023 U.S. Houzz Kitchen Trends Study, more than 2 in 5 homeowners (44 percent) choose fully custom cabinets, while nearly one-third (31 percent) opt for semi-custom, says Marine Sargsyan, staff economist at Houzz. She also tells us that white remains the most popular color choice (40 percent), followed by wood-tone cabinets (24 percent) and that Shaker-style cabinet doors are the most style, followed by flat-panel doors.

But, before you can think about aesthetics, you'll need to figure out your budget. So, we've broken down the cost of kitchen cabinets and all the factors at play below.

The cost of new kitchen cabinets can vary depending on a variety of factors. According to Sargsyan, it usually costs between $1,000 to $5,000 to install new kitchen cabinets. The price can vary depending on the number of cabinets you need, the materials you choose, and whether or not you have custom cabinets made, she explains.

Morgan Olsen, design expert at Thumbtack, tells us that on average, kitchen cabinets themselves cost $300 to $614.

Your actual project costs can depend on the type of cabinets you choose. Olsen provides examples of the three typical cabinet types:

For stock cabinets, Olsen says the cost per unit can range from $55 to $600. Stock cabinets, also known as ready-made cabinets, may need to be assembled and finished, she explains. She points to the types of cabinets you see at places like Home Depot and IKEA as examples. You can find top cabinets as well as bottom cabinets, with doors or drawers, in various sizes. Some are also available in various colors, such as white, cognac, medium oak, and natural hickory. However, with stock cabinets, youre limited to the specific sizes offered.

Semi-custom cabinets can range from $140 to $800 or more, and Olsen says theyre a good mid-range choice that wont break the budget. Semi-custom cabinets are available in standard sizes, but provide more flexibility regarding measurementsand they come in a variety of styles as well, she says.

Expect to pay more for custom cabinets, since theyre hand-built by carpenters to precisely fit your kitchen. Custom cabinets are the most expensive option because of the skill and labor required, ranging from $500 to $1,400 or more per linear foot installed, Olsen explains.

The type of material you choose can also make a difference, and Olsen says these are the average price ranges:

Along with the type and material, the cost of kitchen cabinets can also depend on the size of your kitchen, and the type of professional you decide to hire. Some cabinets are unfinished or prefinished, which can add extra steps and costs. You can paint the kitchen cabinets yourself to save money, but just be sure to avoid these kitchen cabinet painting mistakes.

On average, the national cost to paint cabinets ranges from $2,000 to $7,000, says Olsen. If the cabinets are still in good shape, refinishing them is another option, which could include either staining or painting. Refacing the cabinets is yet another option, and this entails installing new cabinet doors and veneers.

Natalie Rebuck, principal designer at Re: Design Architects, which has offices in Brooklyn and Southold, New York, has designed numerous kitchens. New cabinetry can be included on the lower end range from IKEA (where you need to assemble the cabinetry yourself) and this really is the least expensive cabinet that you can find on the market today, she tells us. A great option is to use companies like Semihandmade and Superfront to make the kitchen look more modern and give it an upgraded look.

If youre looking for something in the mid-price range, Rebuck recommends researching local cabinet makers, since they can sometimes offer custom cabinetry at more affordable prices.

Simplicity is another factor to keep in mind. Flat panels are less expensive than Shaker-style cabinets and other styles that have additional components, Rebuck explains.

In addition, she says cabinet doors are less expensive than having a cabinet with a whole bunch of drawers. Cabinet makers have to make each individual drawer, which drives the cost up on the price of a cabinet with drawers versus doors. So, consider minimizing the number of drawers when selecting your kitchen cabinets, if you can.

Kitchen Trends 2024: Revamp Your Kitchen In Style – Bored Panda - January 5, 2024 by Mr HomeBuilder

2023 brought in a very distinctkitchen designstyle. Bright-colored furniture, likeyellow kitchen cabinets, became increasingly popular, along with the all-white kitchens that made a noticeable comeback. Statement kitchen islands, streamlined storage, and open-plan kitchens ruled the trends overall.

But as 2023 has ended, lets look at what 2024 has in store for us.Bored Panda got in touch with an interior designer, Augustina Poinait ofBLOND interiors, and asked her to share insight on what kitchen trends we can expect in 2024. If youre planning a kitchen remodeling or just like to stay on top of design trends, read on to discover the most significantkitchen trends of 2024!

Bright colors and all-white kitchens are taking the backseat in 2024, with warm woods and natural colorscoming to the forefront. In general, kitchen trends in 2024are taking a more minimalist approach, favoring modern designs with classic elements. According to Augustina, Scandinavian, mid-century, and contemporary will be the most trending styles this year.

Functionality becomes the leading factor when designing a kitchen. Decluttering of the cooking space will continue with even more optimized storage, hidden appliances, and beverage stations. Homeowners will be looking for flat-panel designs, stain-resistant materials, and countertops that seamlessly extend into the backsplash.adds Augustina.

Seating arrangementsare becoming more like a family dinner setting rather than a bar style, which should encourage more conversation during the meal. Overall, kitchens will feel more like living spaces. Think more art on shelves and rich details, turning a kitchen into a place where people can really take their time.

Kitchen islandscontinue to be a prominent part of the cooking space, but now they take on more responsibilities. While they will continue having a lot of cabinet storage space, there will also be more legroom underneath for a comfortable eat-in.

Whiletile backsplashesarent necessarily out of trend, slabs are beginning to grab the attention as one of the most popularkitchen backsplash trends in 2024. Not only do they give your kitchen a sense of effortless luxury, but they also require very little maintenance. Quartz is the most popular material for this. Match the backsplash with the countertop to create a seamless look.

Subway tile was a popular backsplash choice for many years. Though it may not be the latest trend, its still a classic that looks tasteful today. Its a budget-friendly option and can add a clean, modern look to your kitchen, says Augustina.

Glass mosaic tiles were another popular option for several yearsnot anymore. Save it for your pool, but keep it out of your kitchen.

The fluted design is a great way of creating a focal point for akitchen cabinetwithout being overly loud. Since its becoming even more popular in 2024, you can also use fluted design on other surfaces, such as kitchen islands or pantries. It makes an impact both on painted and natural wooden cabinets.

In 2024, smart storage is in demand. While the tendency for decluttering and efficient organization started much earlier, this year it is going to progress. Priority is given to well-organized walk-in pantries and special cabinets to keep kitchen appliances off the counterstill accessible, though.

Augustina told us that recently open shelving has fallen out of favor with interior designers and homeowners, as it proved to be a rather impractical solution. However, she added, if you like the look of open shelving but want to avoid the practical problems, you can use it as an accent in your kitchen. For example, you could display cookbooks, decorative items, or plants.

The classic herringbone pattern is simple yet chic. It creates movement dynamics in the space and makes it more visually interesting.Kitchen trends in 2024lean towards herringbone patterns on backsplash tiles and flooring.

Range hoods are often excluded from kitchen interior design. In 2024, however, they are set to make a statement. Size does not mattera wooden or stainless steel hood will draw attention even in a smaller kitchen.

Striking pendant lights over the dining area are still very much in trend. However, in a 2024 kitchen, decorative and ambient lighting are also given a place to shine. This will include ceiling or under-cabinet lighting, sconces in the breakfast nook, and similar options to create a cozy atmosphere.

For a while, matte black fixtures were the number one choice in the modern kitchen. But it seems likekitchen hardware trends will take a different approach in 2024, opting for gold. Be it faucets, light fixtures, cabinet hardware, and other metallic parts, gold hardware is becoming the top choice among homeowners, with matte finishes preferred over polish.

Augustina explains this as the homeowners desire to move towards a more warm and inviting aesthetics. All-white kitchens with black fixtures create a stark contrast, but as warm beige, tan, brown, cream, and wood tones declare their reign in the kitchen, gold hardware and fixtures will complement them.

While calm, earthy tones are highly preferred, green shadesare also among the most popularkitchen cabinet color trends in 2024. The general incline towards sustainability and union with nature we have seen in recent years has a lot to do with this trend. If you want to become part of it, Augustina recommends layering warm whites, earthy greens, and wood tones throughout your kitchen to create a harmonious and relaxing atmosphere.

Other trendy colors include blue, creamy white, and natural wood. But if you want a true statement piece in your kitchen, go with something bolder, like navy blue or Behr Cracked Pepper from the Designer Collection.

According to Augustina, the shift in kitchen trends reflects a desire for more homelike and inviting spaces. Homeowners are choosing materials that feel warm and inviting rather than cold and industrial.

Along with the theme of becoming one with nature, wood cabinetry is taking the center stage inkitchen trends of the 2024, while warm wood tones are leading the parade.

When asked about the most trending design feature in the 2024 kitchen, Augustina was positive that beverage stations will definitely lead the charts. People will want a dedicated spot to pour wine, make coffee, or blend up smoothies. Its even more popular than other layout features like enlarged pantries or eat-in kitchens, she adds.

Incorporate a coffee station (or another beverage) into your kitchen layout. Having a special place that includes a coffee maker and all necessary supplies will give your kitchen its own personality. The best part: It doesnt have to be big if the space doesnt allow for it.

Stylish and easy to maintain, quartz countertopshold a prominent place inkitchen design trends of 2024, with matte finish being the top choice. As for the color, the countertops will be lighter than the cabinets. Both traditional and waterfall-style edges will remain relevant.

Augustina believes that people lean towards quartz because of its low maintenance requirements, durability, and ease of cleaning. She also mentioned quartzite as the second most popular option. On the other hand, granite, which gained popularity once, was pushed to the third position as the most demanded material for countertops.

The bold and bright Barbiecore color palettes that were popular in 2023 are taking a step back as we move towards 2024, and instead, there is a growing preference for a simple, minimalist look. While stark white kitchens will continue to be in style, creamy and off-white tones, combined with natural greens and blues, will also remain popular.

Gray, which was another popular choice in the past years, has been replaced by its warmer hues or greige. Interior designers lean towards colors likeSherwin WilliamsRepose Gray and Behr PerfectTaupefor a minimalist yet sophisticated look.

Before you start remodeling, here are a couple more questions to consider if you want to create a beautiful and timeless look for your kitchen.

While some people may find it boring, white kitchens will always be around. One thing to keep in mind, howeverjust like any other colorwhite has more than one shade. Stark white may be leaving the limelight in 2024, but cream white and off-white will stay. Plus, its versatile, and youre less likely to get tired of it soon.

If white isnt your cup of tea, greige can be a great alternative. It provides a well-balanced solution between minimalism and making a statement while also pairing well with various other colors. However, if you prefer a classic modern look, you should go with the sage green and navy.

Ultra-modern cabinets that look like they belong on a spaceship have reached their potential. If anything, they will make your kitchen look outdated. Similarly, the buzz over excessive open shelving has come to an end as many realize it isnt the most practical solution for your kitchen.

If you enjoy having open shelves in your kitchen, Augustina suggests combining them with cabinets to enjoy the best of both worlds: plenty of storage and a place to display your personality.

On the other hand, ceiling-height cabinets are definitely a good upgrade. If youre considering new cabinetry, the investment is worthwhile. It will provide you with extra storage while also giving your kitchen a high-end look.

Augustina shares with us a foolproof way of selecting a timeless look for your kitchen. She suggests that before we commit to a style, we should look at things that have been top favorites for at least several decades. Since they have passed the test of time, they are more likely to remain a classic, giving your kitchen a timeless look that you can update every now and then.

Following the latest trends may be tempting, but unless youre prepared to renovate your kitchen every season, opt for elements that make it look timeless instead. Traditional Shaker-style cabinets, neutral colors, natural wood, well-organized storage, and an efficient layout will help you achieve this.

Martha Stewart regrets buying this kitchen appliance | – Homes & Gardens - January 5, 2024 by Mr HomeBuilder

Designing a kitchen is expensive and time-consuming. To make a re-design or renovation worth it, it's paramount to consider how you will use the space and what appliances work best for you. That's why making single-use appliances a permanent part of your kitchen can be so tricky. No one knows this better than Martha Stewart, who regrets installing a deep frier on her stove.

In our interview with the celebrated guru, she told us about the kitchen idea she wishes she could change. Martha told H&G exclusively: 'I have a stove with ten burners. I have a deep fryer, which I confess I have only used once in 20 years.' She continued, 'I'm not a big fryer. If I fry now, I fry in a pot because it's a lot of oil to fill the deep fryer. I should have put two more burners there.'

While intriguing, Martha's kitchen renovation regret is not uncommon. Kitchen renovation expert Barry Gant, the founder of 7 Day Kitchens, states: 'Fryers arent always a favorite in the home kitchen. First, they hog space. Fryers aren't small. They may even take up a good portion of your counter, which is not great, especially in small kitchens.'

    Social Links Navigation

Barry Gant is the owner of 7 Day Kitchens, a Charlotte, NC-based company specializing in swift kitchen remodeling. Gant attributes their ability to remodel kitchens in just 7 days a stark contrast to the industrys standard 6 to 8 weeks to meticulous planning, unwavering customer commitment, and efficient execution.

'Many people find that fried food is not cooked that often. So, having this huge machine that sits in the kitchen for fries or fried chicken occasionally can be a waste of precious space,' Barry says. 'Also, keeping the fryer clean is no small task. Fryers can make your whole house smell like a fast food joint if youre not careful, so friers are best avoided.'

Instead of installing this kitchen upgrade that homeowners always regret, Barry recommends opting for versatility and considering how you most often use the kitchen. He says, 'Figure out what you like to do most in the kitchen. Is it baking bread? Making coffee? Prepping herbs? Create a dedicated space for it. This will make your time in the kitchen more enjoyable and productive.'

Our product testers have found that this is the best air fryer in the world. It makes perfect fries, the see-through door makes is easy to monitor your food, and has anti-odor tech to keep your kitchen smelling fresh.

This ultimate multi-cooker has a 2.2 liter mixing bowl with 28 functions, making it easy to cook healthy homemade meals. Handy features like the Guided Cooking tool make the Thermomix easy for busy families or beginner chefs. The drawbacks include an expensive price tag, large size, and high noise levels.

This 6.5-quart multi-cooker has 14 functions, including pressure cooking, air frying, and steaming. The cooker also includes a recipe book that caters to a wide variety of dietary requirements, and the machine has an incredibly quick preheating time. Similar features to the Thermonix machine minus stirring functions.

While choosing kitchen appliances is not a one-size-fits-all all process, installing a fryer can be difficult, even for kitchen geniuses like Martha Stewart. Avoid regrets and prioritize functions with multi-use tools.

We interviewed Martha as part of her Don't Do It Yourself Campaign with Pure Leaf Tea.

TikTok Shows You How To Save Big Bucks When Renovating Your Kitchen Cabinets – House Digest - January 5, 2024 by Mr HomeBuilder

@thislittlelifewebuiltsuggests that a perfect way to create a cabinet makeover is to simply replace the doors, leaving the actual cabinet behind it intact. Her kitchen's stylishly recessed door cabinets were removed, leaving behind wood cabinets she painted in a soft white shade that forms a stunning backdrop to her new custom cabinetry doors, creating a stylish two-tone look. Since the cabinet doors are the most noticeable part of the cabinets, she can invest in carpenter-designed custom doors for the existing casings instead of spending the money on total replacement.

Unlike demolition and new cabinetry, replacing the doors is fairly DIY-friendly, requiring only a few tools like a power screwdriver, hole borer, and new hinges. Additional supply costs include paint or stain for the cabinets and new hardware. By replacing only the doors, you can save significant costs. New cabinet doors typically range from $50 to $500,with total cabinet replacement running anywhere from $2,200 to $25,000, averaging about $8,200 for most homeowners.

With matte or gloss finishes on offer, white kitchen ideas can look wonderfully different, and theres a tremendous variety in its shades from the crispest of pure whites to those with subtle warm or cool undertones. Decorating with white is also the perfect partner for other kitchen color ideas and materials, whether used as major elements or accents.

To make a white palette feel designed and considered its important to mix and match patterns, albeit neutral ones, and occasional accent colors.

However, just because your kitchen cabinetry is white doesnt mean your whole kitchen needs to be minimal or plain: think about adding texture and pattern elsewhere timber kitchen shelving or stone kitchen countertops, for example.

As expected, a white color scheme will be very beneficial for smaller kitchen spaces, particularly combined with light countertops, says Tom Howley, design director at Tom Howley bespoke kitchens.

Similar to Alicia Silverstone's kitchen, beautiful craftsmanship and simple lines are the hallmarks of a traditional white kitchen.

White has become a popular choice for classical designs. It makes cabinetry look very crisp and sophisticated and the space feels instantly brighter yet also very calming, says Stephanie Dedes, design and marketing manager at Charles Yorkes Pirbright showroom.

The Joanna Gaines-Approved Backsplash Material That’ll Brighten Up Your Kitchen – House Digest - January 5, 2024 by Mr HomeBuilder

Subway tile's roots are in its namesake method of transportation. At the turn of the century, it was the choice of urban planners for its durability, price, and ability to keep clean. This also makes it a great choice for kitchens for all the same reasons. Subway tile can be found in the range of only $2-$15 per square foot, making it a cost-friendly alternative to other varieties of porcelain tiles. In the kitchen, like the subway, it's durable and easy to clean with a glossy finish and resists cracking and wearing over time.

It is also one of the most adaptable tiles, at home in many kitchen aesthetics, including everything from Joanna Gaines' beloved modern farmhouse aesthetic to more modern sleek and minimalistic spaces. It also looks amazing in industrial-inspired and cottage-style kitchens. It can be both elevated and formal in a traditional kitchen or casual and laid-back in a coastal or boho design aesthetic. Dave Ramsey Reveals the 10 Most Popular Home Renovations and Their Typical Cost – AOL - December 11, 2023 by Mr HomeBuilder

    Dave Ramsey

Many homeowners are familiar with different types of home renovations. You might even have plans to renovate a room in your home within the coming year. What you may be less certain about, however, is how much these renovations cost. If you dont know how much certain renovations cost, it becomes harder to budget accordingly.

Living Frugally: Adopting Lessons From the Great Depression Discover: 3 Things You Must Do When Your Savings Reach $50,000

Money expert Dave Ramsey recently outlined some of the most popular indoor and outdoor home improvements in a post on his website Ramsey Solutions. See whether you can guess the ballpark cost of the top 10 home renovations.

According to the post on Ramsey Solutions, selling a home that features an upgraded kitchen means the seller can potentially receive around 86% of the money they invested in the remodel.

Often referred to as the heart of the home, minor kitchen remodeling may include replacing cabinet doors, countertops, lighting and flooring as well as upgrading appliances like refrigerators and ovens.

Homeowners need to address different variables when determining how much theyll spend on remodeling a midrange bathroom. Some of these include the bathroom size and remodeling scope, with the latter ranging from simply replacing some fixtures to potentially moving the bathroom to another place in the home.

If you want to keep to a budget, the post on Ramsey Solutions recommends aiming for midrange fixtures with your remodeling plans. Some of these updates may mean laying new tile, replacing older toilets or fitting new countertops.

Which room is defined as the primary suite in a home? This is a bedroom with its own private bathroom, a walk-in closet and possibly a dressing area.

Ramsey Solutions prices the typical cost at around $157,000. This is a lot of money, even more than the cost of a kitchen remodel. One of the reasons it costs so much more, as outlined in a post by Sweeten, is that a primary suite is a combination of both a dry room and a wet room. For clarification, a wet room is a space like a kitchen or bathroom, whereas a dry room would be a bedroom. If a private bathroom were not included and you were renovating the space as a bedroom, it would be much cheaper.

If you live in a home that has a basement, chances are youll want to turn it into a finished basement (if it isnt one already).

Before you begin your remodeling plans, the Ramsey Solutions post recommends having a professional inspect it for any water damage or other problems that may require making additional repairs.

Weve covered several popular interior renovations and now its time to head outdoors. While Ramsey Solutions cites landscaping as having a typical cost of $3,500, Forbes reported these costs can inch upwards to $10,000 or more.

Several variables will determine the total cost including the size of your yard, the type of work you need done and how long you anticipate it will last. To help keep costs down, the Ramsey Solutions post recommends visiting a local garden center and seeking expert advice about the type of landscaping you should look into for your yard.

A remodeled deck doesnt necessarily need to be a composite deck.

However, the Ramsey Solutions post recommends homeowners who want to remodel their decks opt in for composite deck additions. This is because composite decks last longer than options such as wooden decks. The more a durable deck is built to last, the less money you spend maintaining it in the long run.

Upgrading your front door is fairly inexpensive and easy enough to do, with Ramsey Solutions quoting the typical cost at around $2,200.

Does your home have vinyl siding? If you answered yes, you might be considering spending around $10,000 to install veneer on the front of your home. The post on Ramsey Solutions recommends stone veneer because it holds in value well over time.

Investing in new vinyl windows is a win-win remodeling decision for homeowners. You add an instant curb appeal boost to your home, and the stronger insulation may result in cheaper utility bills.

We saved one of the biggest remodeling returns on investment for last. According to Ramsey Solutions, homeowners who upgrade their garage doors can recoup 103% of what they spend and add massive value to their homes.

The Hidden Downside That May Make You Rethink Marble Countertops – House Digest - December 11, 2023 by Mr HomeBuilder

One of the biggest contributors towards etching is acids, which comes in forms such as cleaners or other liquids. Speaking to Architectural Digest, director of operations for NYC Marble Care Welberson DosSantos explains: "Acids react with the calcium carbonate and eat away at the stone. Wine, orange juice, and coffee can all etch the stone. Stay away from abrasive products or citrus-based cleaners, like Lysol All-Purpose cleaner, because the acids strip the sealer, and over time you will start to see spotting." If you're careful and manage to avoid spilling or using any of these products on your marble, then you may find it easier to avoid any dreaded etching, particularly if you incorporate items such as placemats for drinks and cups.

However, there may naturally be some instances where it's unavoidable, even if you take good care of your marble, especially if you have guests or young, messy children milling around the area with drinks. Unless you fancy patrolling your kitchen like a hawk every minute of the day, these potential etch-triggering scenarios may be challenging to manage around the clock as it'll be virtually impossible to stay glued in the same spot. If you opt for a countertop using this material, your best bet is to get into good habits and familiarize yourself with what products to use and what to avoid, making it easier to prevent wear and tear and help you care for marble to avoid damage.
