Global oil prices reversed a rally on Monday, with benchmark Brent returning to the red after a big hike in Saudi Arabia's monthly export prices was viewed as a signal OPEC's largest producer may be seeking to curb output.

State oil firm Saudi Aramco said it would raise the price of its flagship Arab light crude in December for customers in Asia and Europe, reversing some price cuts the previous month. It will cut prices for U.S. buyers.

The kingdom has signaled it was willing to put up with lower oil prices, and last month's big price cuts had triggered a deeper decline in global markets. The higher prices for December cargoes may now discourage buyers, some said.

Oil traders may see the latest price hikes as an indication that the Saudis are now "less worried about market share and more concerned about crude prices," said Joseph Posillico, senior vice president of energy derivatives at Jefferies LLC.

The U.S. dollar powered to a seven-year peak against the yen and a two-year high against the euro on Monday, extending gains after the Bank of Japan's latest stimulus and punishing oil and gold priced in the U.S. currency.

Although prices initially rose in midday trading, by late in the U.S. session both the U.S. and international contracts had retreated.

Brent was sharply lower, off more than $1 to near $84 per barrel. Earlier it had slipped below $85 as a stronger dollar punished oil and gold, commodities that are priced in the U.S. currency.

U.S. crude tumbled by more than 2 percent, ending down $1.76 at $78.78 per barrel.

The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries pumped 120,000 barrels per day less crude oil in October, a Reuters survey showed on Friday, although overall supply stayed well above the cartel's output target of 30 million bpd.

AN AFRICAN adventure was had in Thornbury last month.

On Tuesday, October 21an audience of about 50 people were fascinated by presentations given by three speakers - arranged by the Thornbury and District Make Poverty History Group.

The event was part of this year's One World Week - a charity that encourages increased understanding of different cultures from around the world.

The first speaker, Gill Leaper described the many projects that her daughter Alice has set up in Malawi under the name of Butterfly Space; projects to help nursery aged children, teaching older students and providing bedding for elderly people.

Tom Wong, 16 and supported by his family, gave a professional presentation on the Castle Schools summer trip to Tanzania. This involved a community project to build a Toilet block.

The third presentation was given by Derek and Sally Quilter who enthusiastically reported on the involvement of their family in a project in Tanzania.

The project involves working with men and women suffering from Leprosy and the young children living with them. They help the lepers by befriending them and by building much needed facilities and providing suitable equipment for those who had lost limbs.

Each speaker emphasised that life is very different from life in Thornbury. Electricity in African villages is intermittent or non-existent.

The speakers were supported by stalls ranging from the demonstration of low energy light bulbs on the Sustainable Thornbury stall to the selling of Traidcraft Fairtrade food and learning about ethical investment with Shared Interest.

Other stalls were selling East African handmade beads brought back by South Gloucestershire people visiting African link projects.

Per various Sunshine State news outlets, the Florida Republican has had his record expunged following the completion of a nearly yearlong probationary period stemming from his fall 2013 arrest for possession of a controlled substance.

Radel briefly flirted with the idea of serving out the remainder of his first term, but wound up up throwing in the towel after it became painfully obvious he was persona non grata on Capitol Hill.

Trey Radel Sheds Coke Charges

A road could be built to take farm traffic away from a Shropshire village if plans to build sheds for up to 180,000 chickens are approved.

The controversial plans for farm land in Lilleshall were thrown out by Telford planners last month.

But now they have been amended and resubmitted and will go back before councillors next week and this time they have been recommended for the go-ahead.

An amended application has been lodged by H Timmis Farms to build four poultry houses and a biomass fuel storage and heating building at Littlehales Manor Farm.

The changes to the original application will see one of the proposed sheds nearly halved in size, while a new access road is proposed to take farm traffic from the centre of the village.

The poultry buildings would house about 45,000 birds each.

Last month, planning officers recommended members of Telford & Wrekin Councils planning committee refuse the application saying scale, mass and design of the proposed building failed to respect and respond positively to the visual amenities of the area.

But now officer Emma Green said the new application had overcome the issues and would have additional benefits for the local community by removing existing farm traffic of Pitchcroft Lane and Littlehales Road.

Church Aston Parish Council had previously voted to object to the plans on the grounds of highway safety but said the alternative route now being proposed was welcomed.

The proposed road was also welcomed by members of Chetwynd Aston and Woodcote Parish Council.
