(WKTV) - Art Risucci has owned Art's Tree and Stump Removal Service for almost three decades. Ironically he lives in Deerfield, just blocks away from what he calls the worst concentration of tree damage in the Greater Utica area he has ever seen.

A confirmed tornado touched down in Deerfield on Tuesday evening, just a block off of the town's busiest roadway, Walker Road.

Risucci has been out with his staff at homes on Walker Road., Wells Drive, Glendale Place and Beaumond Place since the tornado struck, cutting down and removing trees. He says these past two days have been the busiest two days business-wise he can remember.

"Over a hundred phone calls," he said. "My wife's been taking the calls. We can only do three, four jobs a day, so some people don't understand, some do. But they're on a lot on houses, on garages, on cars, but we'll get them off."

Risucci says the tornado ripped trees in ways that make tree removal difficult and dangerous.

"It's a lot harder because they're twisted, they're broken, the saw is pinching in the cracks. They're hung up. It's not like cutting a straight up-and-down tree. Now it's challenging. A lot more rope, a lot more hanging on to things."

Risucci and the members of his staff aren't complaining about the extra work, but are looking forward to a day off. With hundreds of trees down, they just don't know how soon that day off will come.

Tree removal service companies busy from daylight to dusk

In Jefferson City, residents will have to take tree limbs to theyard waste drop off siteat 2417 Southridge Drive.

There is no charge for residents to drop off limbs, but there will be a charge for non-residents and businesses.

Jefferson City has no plans for a special pick up. Residents will be responsible for the disposal of yard waste.

The city does ask to be notifed if a tree on a right of way has been damaged.

Columbia residentswith fallen tree limbs can put them with their trash, with some limitations. Twigs and branches too small to bundle can be placed in bags, box or disposal containers. Larger limbs need to be bundled. They cannot be longer than four feet long, two feet in diameter. Bundles cannot weigh more than 50 pounds.

Jefferson City residents responsible for tree limb removal

(SAINT JOHN) With the majority of emergency and high priority tree removal tasks near completion, the City is preparing for the clean-up phase, which includes a program to assist residents with the clean-up of storm-damaged tree material.

This pick up is only for leaves, branches and trunks of trees damaged by post-tropical storm Arthur.

Residents are asked to have any debris, such as leaves, branches, or trunks, from their fallen and damaged trees to the curb by end of day Monday, July 14 for a one time pick up service by city crews the following morning.

The curb side clean-up is expected to take approximately four days to complete, and will begin simultaneously in all areas across the City.

To report hazards, such as fallen or hanging branches in public spaces, please contact Municipal Operations 658-4455.

The Rancho Santa Fe Association board approved the tree management plan for the back nine holes of the Rancho Santa Fe Golf Club course at its July 3 meeting. The plan for holes 10 through 18 calls for the removal of 56 trees, the replanting of 74 replacement trees and the elimination of over 7.9 acres of turf, which will be replaced with native shrubs and save a substantial amount of money on water, according to RSF Golf Club Manager Al Castro.

After a somewhat contentious community meeting in 2013 about the clubs removal of trees to increase playability, the RSF Association and RSF Golf Club decided to work together to create a comprehensive plan.

A tree management committee made up of members from the RSF Golf Club, the RSF Associations trails committee and the committee on the natural environment (CONE) was formed to give every tree on the course a thoughtful review and analysis.

In May, the board approved the plan for the front nine that included the removal of 32 trees, the planting of 30 new replacement trees and an additional 10.7 acres of turf.

The total of 18.9 acres of turf being removed is part of the clubs overall effort to conserve water and irrigation costs, which have doubled over the last eight years, Castro said.

The work on the front nine is expected to begin in September with a 90- to 120-day construction process. The tree plan for holes 10 through 18 are part of phase two and is scheduled to begin in September 2015.
