Avoid auto-installation of Windows Home when installing Windows – Hindu Wire - September 30, 2022 by Mr HomeBuilder

A problem faced by many Windows users recently is the inability to choose the Windows edition we need when we install Windows 10 or Windows 11 on our computer. It means that during a clean installation of Windows 10 or 11, the Windows Jome edition is automatically installed without giving any option to the user to select the desired edition. We Android workers mean that this is annoying for some people.

The reason for this annoying problem is that the Windows 10 Installer automatically detects the Edition of the Windows Version previously installed on the users computer, and with that, the previous Windows Edition is automatically installed during the Windows installation. For example, if the user had previously installed Windows 10 Home Edition, Windows 11 Home Edition will automatically be installed again when installing Windows 11 (the same thing will happen if Windows 10 is installed again).

The reason for this is that the Installer recognizes the Previous Windows Version Product Key stored in the BIOS. A solution to this problem is what we are ready to bring to you today in this article.

For this you need a Windows Bootable USB Drive. So first create a USB Bootable Drive.

After that, all you have to do is open Notepad and type the code below in that Notepad.

    Professional[Channel]

RetailAfter that, save the file by renaming it as ei.cfg (here the file extension should be cfg) through Save as.

OK, the next thing to do is to copy the saved file to the Sources folder of your Windows Bootable Device.

Now restart your computer and select your Windows Installer Media from the Boot Menu and proceed as you would normally install Windows. There you will be able to see that now we have the opportunity to select the Windows Edition we want.

So see you in another article like this. Dont forget to comment below.

Spotlight:Six factors that impact the cost of your home window replacement project – CambridgeToday - August 20, 2022 by Mr HomeBuilder

If you have ever needed a window replacement, you may have been curious how different companies provide new window prices that may differ by thousands of dollars. What do they consider, and why could some small local companies charge more than a big famous window replacement brand?

This post will break down the key factors that drive the price for new windows and what you need to keep in mind before requesting a quote or even signing a window replacement contract with your preferred company. Sounds interesting? Keep reading!

Window style is your number 1 concern when choosing new windows since it not only determines the final quote for your project but also impacts the property value, energy efficiency and even the overall look of your house.

With this in mind, Calgary window companies may provide different quotes based solely on the window style homeowners prefer.

Of course, the size of your new windows also matters. The bigger window you want, the higher the price tag. But what is essential to keep in mind is that your rough opening should allow for the size of the new unit you want to install. If you want a larger window, and your current rough opening does not allow it, you should expect to pay extra to enlarge it, which leads to a more complex installation.

Glazing is one of the most essential window elements that directly impacts the energy efficiency of your new window. And while gone are the days when single-glazed windows were in use, today's market provides homeowners with different glazing options to make windows more energy efficient and save you money in the long run.

Double-pane windows are a standard option that work well for most houses in Canada. But if you live in regions with harsh weather conditions, you might need to consider going with triple-pane units, which according to window experts are 15% more expensive than standard double-pane windows.

Moreover, installing LoE coating or filling the spacers with Argon or Krypton also influences the price, so make sure to ask your window company to provide you with the average option that works best for your region and house. Choosing the wrong glazing type may lead to longer return on investment, or might not pay off at all.

While you might think that hardware and painting sound like insignificant details, they add a lot to the final quote for your new windows.

If you want to perfectly complement your house design, exterior and interior decor, choosing the right colours is vital. The same goes for hardware; elite handles, quality hinges, and locks are a real game-changer, so you should expect to fork out in case you want to add on aesthetics.

This one probably needs the least explanation the bigger the number of windows you want to replace, the higher the final cost. An average Canadian house has 10-12 windows, so if you want to replace all of them, it can be pretty expensive, with an average bill between $9,000 and $12,000.

If you deal with a reliable window company, your quote usually includes the installation. So you can expect professional installers to come and do the job so your new windows are installed correctly, ensuring smooth operation and maximum energy efficiency.

However, some companies may charge extra for installation, and homeowners usually overlook this issue when signing a contract, which leads to frustration later on.

To avoid common pitfalls, you need to ask questions in advance, asking your installers to clarify every detail regarding your replacement project. You can do this at your quote appointment with the company representative, and we highly advise you to prepare a list of questions in advance. Curious about what to expect from your quote appointment? Watch the video below.

What to Expect From Your Quote Appointment

Window replacement is a great home improvement project to boost your property value and energy efficiency. But as a rule, it can be expensive, so consider it a long-term investment into your property. Now that you know what drives the cost for your new windows and which aspects to consider when asking for a quote, you can better analyze your replacement project and get the best price from your local window companies. Good luck!

How to Install a Window AC Unit – CNET - August 20, 2022 by Mr HomeBuilder

Installing a window air conditioner is typically a straightforward DIY process that can quickly transform a muggy room into a much more comfortable space.

If you have any questions about your specific model -- or the window where you're planning to install it -- consider hiring a professional to help. Otherwise, we'll walk through the basic steps to set up a window air conditioner below. (You can also check out our tips on how to save big on AC costs with a small home upgrade, and the best temperature to set your thermostat to to save money.)

Read more:Best Window AC Units of 2022

To come up with this basic set-up guide, I reviewed the installation instructions from three different window AC units: the LG LW5016, the Toshiba RAC-WK0511CMU and the GE AKLK14. Keep in mind that some details may vary from unit to unit, so always check your user manual before you begin installing a window air conditioner.

For a window AC installation, you'll need a screwdriver (some guides specify Phillips head, others flathead -- and some both), a level, a pencil, a tape measure and scissors.

Most window AC units come with mounting panels andweatherstrippingmaterial in addition to the air conditioner. These accessories help create a seal designed to block the cool air from leaking outside and the hot air from leaking in.

Once you have the required tools, unbox the air conditioner, along with all of the accessories and hardware. Next, attach the panels to the AC unit. Side panels that open to a desired size are common. Your unit might also have top and bottom panels. Depending on the unit you have, this may require hardware and a screwdriver. Other panels slide into place without requiring screws.

Use the included weatherstripping material to create a seal on the window. Typically, this material has an adhesive side for easy installation. Cut the strip to the desired size with scissors and place on the window to restrict air leakage.

Lastly, attach the air conditioner to the window. This step will likely require a screwdriver and hardware to make sure the AC unit is securely connected to the window. Follow the manufacturer guidelines closely here to ensure the air conditioner is positioned correctly. The panels should cover any space that would otherwise be open to the elements; the weatherstripping should create a tight seal between the window and the air conditioner.

Before you buy your window air conditioner, make sure you select the right size unit for your room to allow it to function optimally. Once you've made your selection and set up your AC unit, there are some other things to consider. In order to ensure your air conditioner lasts as long as possible, make sure to clean it regularly. Also be aware of these signs that your window unit might need a repair.

And, if you aren't sold on a window air conditioner for your space, consider a portable AC unit instead. They're more versatile than a window unit because they can travel with you from room to room as needed.

Vandal smashes windows at three Vancouver businesses – The Columbian - August 20, 2022 by Mr HomeBuilder

A man is accused of smashing out the windows of three downtown Vancouver businesses with a skateboard Tuesday morning, causing extensive damage to an art gallery and supply shop.

Vancouver police were called at about 6:45 a.m. to the area of West Sixth and Columbia streets after a witness reported a man broke into a vehicle with a skateboard and was now shattering windows at an art gallery, according to a probable cause affidavit.

The man then went inside the Plaid Pantry, 514 Washington St., and stole a cigar and broke another window there. A photo from surveillance video at Plaid Pantry was given to officers, the affidavit states.

The suspect was located walking through traffic on the Interstate 5 Bridge and taken into custody, police department spokeswoman Kim Kapp said in an email.

Benjamin Scott Wilson, 41, no city of residence listed, was booked into the Clark County Jail on suspicion of first- and second-degree malicious mischief. He appeared on the allegations Wednesday in Clark County Superior Court, during which time his bail was set at $10,000, court records show.

According to the affidavit, the cost to repair or replace the window at Plaid Pantry is more than $750. The responding officer saw 10 broken windows at Geme Art, 209 W. Sixth St., and estimated it will cost more than $5,000 to repair or replace the windows. Another window was broken at Vata Salon & Spa next door at 205 W. Sixth St.

Jennifer Will, office manager for Geme Art, said the business remains open and is in the process of cleaning up the damage. But theres no timeline for when the repairs will be completed.

It wasnt just one window; it was multiple windows, so we suffered a lot of damage, she said. Were just doing what we can right now.

Why the Bucs should replace Tom Brady with Lamar Jackson in 2023 – Bucs Wire - August 20, 2022 by Mr HomeBuilder

Even if Brady rides into the sunset after this year, the Bucs will still have a loaded roster on both sides of the ball, and would still be a prime landing spot for any quarterback who wants a chance at winning a Super Bowl.

That being the case, theyll have plenty to offer a superstar passer like Jackson.

If Jackson were to sign with the Bucs, hed have an elite group of pass-catching weapons hes never had in Baltimore, headlined by a pair of Pro Bowl receivers in (future Hall of Famer) Mike Evans and Chris Godwin. The offensive line is still one of the better units in the NFL, led by All-Pro right tackle Tristan Wirfs.

Tampa Bays defense will still have star players at every level, helping to keep the pressure off the offense to score a million points every game, or mount comeback wins every week.

Tampa Bays offensive scheme is vertical-heavy in the passing game, which would finally give Jackson the opportunity to show off his prowess through the air. Between that scheme and the talented weapons Jackson would have at his disposal, it would also open things up for Jackson to take off running when necessary, still allowing him to be the dynamic playmaker hes always been with the ball in his hands. There might be less schemed running than he had in Baltimore, but his value as a runner would be just the same, perhaps with even more room to take advantage of it.

Its also worth considering that Byron Leftwich might still be the offensive coordinator for the Bucs next season. Its possible Leftwich could finally get the head-coaching job he should have already been given at this point, but after two straight offseasons of getting passed up, it wouldnt be impossible to imagine Leftwich staying in Tampa Bay to keep running one of the leagues most explosive offenses until another team wises up and lets him run their show.

If thats the case, Jackson would get the opportunity to work with an offensive coordinator who knows all too well the challenges that come with being a Black quarterback in the NFL. After a decorated college career at Marshall, Leftwich was the No. 7 overall pick in the 2003 NFL draft, and spent nine years quarterbacking in the league before moving into coaching.

Speaking of the personal side of things for Jackson, hes a Florida man himself, hailing from the Boca Raton area on the Atlantic side of the state. Being just a few hours from home after spending five years in Baltimore might be a refreshing change for Jackson.

Report: Windows 11 22H2 update will be released on September 20 – Ars Technica - August 20, 2022 by Mr HomeBuilder

Enlarge / A selection of apps from the Microsoft Store.

    Microsoft

Windows 11's first major update, also called Windows 11 22H2, is due to be released to the public on September 20, according to separate reports from The Verge and Windows Central.

The update has been available in near-final form in Microsoft's Windows Insider Preview channels since May, and we've already covered most of its major changesWindows 11 22H2 will include a few new security features (and new default settings for existing features), a redesigned Task Manager, new touchscreen gestures and window management features, and tweaks for the Start menu and taskbar, among other things. It also continues to replace old bits of Windows 8- and 10-era UI (like the brightness and volume indicators) with rounded Windows 11-style versions, bringing more visual consistency to Windows PCs.

Like all major Windows updates, it likely won't be offered to all current Windows 11 users on September 20. Microsoft usually sends the update to a small number of PCs first and gradually expands availability until all Windows 11 PCs have installed it. Users can manually install new updates by downloading an ISO or using the Windows 11 Installation Assistant from this page.

Microsoft's update plans for Windows have changed a lot in the last year, and they're reportedly still in a state of flux. The company said last year that Windows 11 would receive major updates once a year and that Windows 10 would move from its twice-a-year update model to the same once-per-year schedule. But even as the pace of major updates has officially slowed down, Microsofthas also made some changes to its development and release practices that allow it to roll out small- to medium-size changes at shorter intervals. In the 10 months since Windows 11 was released, we've gotten a long list of user interface tweaks, updates for a number of preinstalled first-party apps, and Android app support. Microsoft also reportedly plans to go back to releasing new numbered Windows versions every three years or so, although the company has neither confirmed nor denied this.

For Windows 10 users who can't or don't want to install Windows 11, Windows 10 is getting its own 22H2 update. Microsoft released a preview build for it late last month, but the company isn't talking about what this update actually does. It's not likely to include many big user-facing improvements.

Three more players expected to leave Brighton before the end of the summer transfer window – SussexWorld - August 20, 2022 by Mr HomeBuilder

According to The Athletic Matt Clarke, Kacper Kozlowski and Florin Andone are all heading for the exits at the Amex Stadium.

So far, a total of 18 players have been sold or loaned out to clubs at home and abroad by Brighton.

As well as sales of Marc Cucurella to Chelsea and Yves Bissouma to Tottenham defender Shane Duffy has been loan to Premier League rivals Fulham and 20-year-old midfielder Teddy Jenks has made a temporary move to League Two neighbours Crawley.

Manager Graham Potter has not ruled out a number of new additions being added to the squad as well.

Following last Saturdays draw with Newcastle, Potter said: Im always content with the squad, youve always got to look at what you have got and how you can improve. Its a different mix of players, so theres not another Danny Welbeck in terms of profile, So thats something we may look at if we are going to look anywhere.

But weve got some good oppositions in terms of attacking in Denis [Undav], Evan Ferguson and Julio [Enciso].

Theres a lot of different profiles from an attacking perspective but while the windows open we need to keep looking and see whats out there.

I think we dont need to react to stuff. We are quite calm as the balance of the team is good. We still have players on the bench that have not played yet that can still have an impact.

"We are not bare on numbers, we need to make the right calls and the right decisions that doesn't put the club under any strain financially.

Left-sided central defender Clarke hasnt made an appearance for Brighton since signing from Portsmouth for around 3 million in June 2019.

The 25-year-old has played 110 games in the second division over the past three years on loan, spending two seasons at Derby County before joining West Brom last season.

Polish midfielder Kozlowski became the youngest player ever to feature in the European Championship finals, when he came on against Spain aged 17 years and 246 days.

He was signed by Brighton in January 2021, costing around 8 million from Pogon Szczecin, before the 18-year-old was immediately loaned out for the rest of last season to Union Saint-Gilloise.

Injury niggles have prevented him from making an impact in Belgium or on the south coast so it is expected that the youngster will go out on loan again this season.

Striker Andone is clearly not part of Potters plans, as the Seagulls manager failed to mention the Romanian when naming the forward options the club would have if Neal Maupay left.

    HAVE YOU READ THIS?

Andone, 29, has barley featured for the club since receiving a red card on his debut in a 2-0 defeat to Southampton leaving the field after a reckless first-half lunge Yan Valery.

Knee injuries and two unsuccessful loan spells at Galatasaray and Cadiz respectively have meant another move abroad looks more then likely for Andone.

However, the club may find it difficult to offload him on the 45,000-a-week wages he earns on his current contract which expires in 12 months.

Hull firm’s pride as installation rating puts it in top bracket for UK window work – Business Live - August 20, 2022 by Mr HomeBuilder

Hull family-owned firm EYG Home Improvements has been rated one of the top installers in the country by a government-backed scheme.

FENSA, which conducts random inspections of approved installers' work, rated EYG in the top 20 out of more than 6,000 registered home improvement companies for the number of installations carried out making the firm one of the biggest regional home improvement firms in Britain. They further recognised EYG is one of their top performers in that list.

The rating is a source of pride for the firm, whose headquarters are based in Wiltshire Road, Hull, where the manufacturing of their entire home improvement range is also based.

Managing director Nick Ward said: Having FENSA rate EYG as one of their top performers in the top 20 firms nationally is an incredible achievement and we are delighted to be recognised for the hard work of our manufacturing and installations teams in achieving this.

EYG, which has been in business for more than 50 years, joined FENSA in 2008 and has carried out almost 34,000 installations since then.

Installations manager Neil Pooley said: We are very strict on compliance, and this year we are out-performing many of our competitors on inspections. This is really something for us to feel proud of, as it verifies that we dont cut corners. The FENSA inspection covers everything from the structural supports, to using safety or toughened glass where appropriate, and that hinges are correct. This rating brings peace of mind to our customers that our installations are carried out properly and professionally, and that our products have passed our high standards of manufacturing.

So far this year EYG has completed 1,220 installations of windows and doors, which also ranks them twelfth nationally for volume. It has secured major contracts with the likes of fellow East Yorkshire firm Beal Homes.

Findochty windows: Councillors allow uPVC in conservation area – The Press & Journal - August 20, 2022 by Mr HomeBuilder

Councillors have given the go-ahead for uPVC windows to be installed in a C-listed building in a conservation area.

The application for a property on Burnside Street in Findochty had already been rejected. This was because the material proposed was not in keeping with the building, not compliant with Historic Environment Scotland advice and would not preserve and enhance the character of the area.

But at a meeting of the Moray local review body this week, the majority of members went against officer recommendations to refuse. They granted the application on appeal.

Independent councillor for Speyside Glenlivet Derek Ross felt other houses in the area had uPVC windows. He said a coach and horses had been driven through the local authoritys policies.

He said:The problem is we have a climate emergency within the area, and we also have an emergency in terms of peoples finances.

It seems its four times the amount of money to replace the windows with sash and case.

Its all very well for the government to say we have conservation areas, but there has to be money to match that.

We need grants for people to do this work and at present there are no grants.

To me this is about fairness. Is it fair that a family has to have this financial burden at this time when all around them others have not complied with the policy?

He put forward a motion to approve the appeal as an acceptable departure from policy. He said other buildings in the area had uPVC windows and there was little compliance.

SNP councillor for Buckie Sonya Warren agreed with Mr Ross.

She said: I think this is a case where we would have benefited from going on a site visit, seeing the conservation area and how policy has been ignored.

So many other properties in the area have not complied, and because there has been so little enforcement they dont have to remove their uPVC double glazing and revert to wooden sash and case windows.

Conservative member for Forres Paul McBain raised the point the Findochty windows being replaced were not wooden but made of aluminium.

Chairman of the meeting Marc Macrae felt a precedent had already been set with so many neighbouring properties already having uPVC windows.

He accepted the situation with other houses in the area were unknown.

But he added: We seem to have a policy that targets the honest person who asks the council, but rewards the person who doesnt.

SNP councillor for Heldon and Laich Neil Cameron felt he was in a quandary. He said comments made about climate change and the cost of living crisis were valid.

He said: I call upon this administration to do something about the planning policies to make sure that people who want to install uPVC windows which today are much more efficient, better looking and aestheticthan 20 30 years ago.

Its up to this administration to give planning officers the power to do what were trying to tell them to do in this meeting.

He was advised officers were looking at the conservation area policies. They would be debated for the next local development plan.

Labour councillor for Elgin North Sandy Keith said: The policy has been adopted by the council and the listing is in place.

The policies are quite clear whether we like it or not.

Im sure the previous council must have given great consideration to these particular policies. Some of the people sitting in this room were on the previous council and were content to have these policies in place.

If were to have these conservationareas then the Scottish Government needs to come up with the goods, in terms of making sure theres a propergrants system.

He proposed an amendmentto uphold the original decision, and was seconded by Mr Cameron.

Members voted by five to two in favour of approving the appeal with one abstention.

Analysing all the strikers linked to Man Utd to replace Ronaldo: Morata, Pulisic, Felix, Gakpo and more under the microscope – Goal.com - August 20, 2022 by Mr HomeBuilder

Joao Felix is an interesting case. Despite showing flashes of brilliance, it is hard to shake the feeling that his development may have been better served at a different club than defence-minded Atletico Madrid.

With the Spanish organisation fraying at the seams financially, United could look to test their resolve with a massive bid. Comfortable across the front three or in attacking midfield, Felix has the potential to ascend to the top table of European players, provided he is coached well.

Convincing the 22-year-old to put his Champions League ambitions on hold is a tough sell, though.
