If youve had to cancel your beach vacation this year, dont worry, theres some good news brimming on the horizon. Seychelles International Airport has reopened for tourists and the group of 115 islands is now officially COVID-free. If youre still keen on social distancing (which you should be), you can ensure your vacation is free of strangers. JA Enchanted Island Resort, a luxury property set in Sainte Anne Marine Park in the Seychelles, is offering guests the opportunity to book an entire island for themselves.

The 20,000 square metre resort has announced new island rates starting from EUR 9,950 (about Rs8.5 lakh) per night for up to 24 guests. That works out to about Rs35,000 per person per night. The rate includes breakfast only.

The resort says it has all necessary precautions regarding sanitisation and social distancing in place as per local government guidelines.

Note that Seychelles has announced a gradual easing of travel restrictions as of 1 June 2020. But only travellers from low-risk countries will be allowed entry for the time being. All visitors are required to send their COVID-19 test results to the Seychelles Department of Health before arrival. Visitors will be subjected to strict entry screening including completion of a health check form, symptomatic check and temperature scanning. Government guidelines mean you cannot change accommodation during your stay.

JA Enchanted Island Resort is owned by Gujarati businessman Sunil Shah who has built this slice of paradise to reflect traditional Creole culture. Shah spent six months studying old Creole homes and buildings before deciding on a design. Conceptualised by Kozhikode-based architect Tony Joseph, the resort blends into its lush green surroundings.

The villas are built to fit around the islands natural landscape. There are 10 villas on the island, some fitted with a private pool and garden plus a private dining gazebo, all with direct access to the beach.

On the island, theres plenty to do. For the adventurous, theres snorkelling, diving, paddle boarding and kayaking. If you just want to sit back and relax, there are catamaran cruises and a spa perched on a hilltop. When it comes to food, you wont be disappointed. Guests on the island can enjoy authentic international and Creole-Seychellois dishes at the resorts Bounty Restaurant, pool-side snacks at Castaway and a variety of bespoke, private experiences including breakfast in bed, moonlight dinners and private barbecues.

The private island experience is available from 1 July 2020.
