War veteran and former National Park Service landscape architect John Moseley, 96, doesnt have many wants, but if he could, he said, he would like to go back to Amman, Jordan, to paint a landscape.
Moseleys home is already adorned with watercolor paintings from scenes that illustrate his travels to countries such as Turkey and Ireland. Other pictures depict adobe walls lined with glowing farolitos. But all reveal a man who can spot and re-create the beauty of his surroundings.

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) Californias drought isnt the end of your yard, as experts say there are plenty of ways to have a beautiful landscape while still conserving water.
Many communities are instilling restrictions on water use, including Sacramento and Roseville which have 20 percent reductions in place.
Sacramentos restrictions go as far as limiting outdoor watering to one day a week, which must be on the weekend. That level of cut can leave a lawn feeling dry.
But Silverado Nursery guru Carly Smith says there are things you can do to beautify your yard.
Theres a lot of plants you can put in your landscape that take minimal water but will still give you the same effect of having lush green landscaping, she said.
One of those plants is the grevillea, which is a native of Australia and requires very low amounts of water. Its the opposite of the horsetail that thrives in water saturated areas.
Water fountains arent something youd think of adding in the middle of a drought, but Smith says its a good addition, since the water recirculates.
She recommends trees, as they create a canopy that will reduce the amount of water that evaporates out of a yard.

Southern York County to see major changes for next term
YORK, Maine When voters head to the polls to cast their ballot for state representative or senator, they had better check with their town clerk first. As of Jan. 1, many people in southern York County are going to be in a different district.
Cape Neddick residents who live east of Interstate 95 will join the majority of York residents in one House district. More Kittery residents will be added to that town's primary voting district; a small number will join a newly configured House district that includes all of Eliot and part of South Berwick. The majority of South Berwick residents now join many North Berwick residents in a new House district.
And stay tuned, York residents who live west of I-95. You will be in a House district with Ogunquit and parts of Wells and Sanford.
On top of all that, the district numbers themselves have been flipped so that, for instance, the former House District 151, which includes most of Kittery, is the new District 1.
Those elected to the new districts will be sworn in for the January 2015 legislative session. Until then, current districts remain in effect.
The road map for these new districts is set out in a little-publicized report completed last May by the Maine Apportionment Commission made up by equal numbers of Republicans and Democrats.
They worked quietly and cooperatively, said chairman Michael Friedman, a Bangor attorney. "I'd like to take credit, but I don't think I can," he said. "For once, there was a bipartisan committee that actually could work together. That's what happened."
According to Maine's Constitution, redistricting occurs every 10 years after the data from the U.S. Census is disseminated. The ideal population for a House district is 8,797, and for a Senate district, 37,953. Only a 10 percent deviation from that figure is allowed.
Several factors guided the commission. Both parties "would prefer not to have two incumbents running against each other," for one, said Friedman. The commission, he said, also tried to redraw districts with a minimum of impact to voters.

This followed the state governments action of approving land near theirsettlement for a company to carry out farming activities on the land, causingthe river water to be muddy while the land clearing has also destroyed the watercatchment area uphill, from where the settlers water supply comes from.
Pos Kuala Kohs village chief Hamdan Keladi said the problem had been brought to the attention of various parties including federal and state government leadersbut so far, their had been no action.
He feared that if no remedial action was taken, the settlers would face moreserious land erosion and river pollution problems while they depended on theriver for their daily water supply.
We really hope the government would take immediate action to preventlarge-scale land clearing in the area in order to protect the environment, hesaid during a visit to the land clearing site.
Meanwhile, the Department of Environments Gua Musang branch head, RohimiHarun who was present during the visit, said it viewed seriously theenvironmental problem that had affected the lives of the Orang Asli settlers inthe area.
He said investigation was being carried out to collect information andevidence of violation of environmental regulations before legal action could betaken against the party responsible.
The company clearing the land for farming actvities had made an applicationto the department and promised to adhere to the conditions and environmentalregulations.
