PHOENIX - One of the oldest Little League organizations in Arizona is reaching out to the community for help rebuilding a facility that was hit by vandals over the summer.

Michael Martinez Sr. told ABC15 that vandals took fencing from the T-ball and Minor Division fields, back stops, the outfield, dugouts and four complete sets of aluminum bleachers from the park located near 7th Street and Southern Avenue in Phoenix.

Martinez said the main field is operable but even that field needs new grass, an updated lighting electrical system, repairs to the scoreboard and to have the snack bar demolished and replaced.

Martinez said they hope to patch the field up enough to get through the season and go from there to make the rest of the repairs.

He said he has reached out to a sod company to at least get the main field back in shape, the only one that will be available this season.

Their ultimate goal is to start from the ground up and provide a baseball park to rival any in the Valley.

The South Mountain Little League first established its charter in 1953. It sent a team to the Little League World Series in 1965.

Martinez said on Saturday, January 18 a group from the Little League organization will be at Big 5 Sporting Goods at 35th Avenue and Baseline Road signing kids up for this summers season.

The co-organiser of the Pathum Wan stage said the intersection was an area that was safe and a good location for shooting pictures. Yet it was also easy for anti-government protest leader Suthep Thaugsuban to move if he wanted to march to other rally sites.

"The PDRC leaders once thought of having the main stage at Ratchaprasong intersection. But someone said it was the same spot that the pro-government red-shirt protesters had gathered - so we should let them have their great memories," he said with a laugh.

Dangkamon revealed that his set-up at the site was for three days only, but said he did not know how long the battle will last.

He said several well-known people would take part as speakers, such as energy expert ML Kornkasiwat Kasemsri, former Engineering Institute of Thailand president Tortrakul Yomnak, and radio anchor Fongsanan Chamornchan. But he has also invited musical bands to join, such as the Blue Sapphires and the CU Band.

Dangkamon, who directed the acclaimed "Spring Awakening" and "Siam Niramit", became the co-organising chief after the PDRC closed the capital for half a day on December 22, and held rallies at five stage sites. He said stage programmes were managed by three parties - academics from Chulalongkorn University (CU), Thammasat Alumni for Thailand's Evolution (TTE), and PDRC core leader Satit Wongnongtoey. CU will run morning events and co-organise with TTE for afternoon events, before the PDRC takes over control in "prime time", in the evenings.

The stage, LCD projectors, and audio equipment were brought from the Rajdamnoen rally site.

Meanwhile, Wasan Paileeklee, a key member of TTE, said his group decided to join the Pathum Wan rally as strong supporters of the protest, by inviting guest speakers and setting up an exhibit on political knowledge at the site. He said his group would today officially hand the rally stage over to the PDRC, given that Suthep was marching to visit many sites yesterday.

He said CU and TU had a long-term relationship. That was why TTE came to this rally stage.

Most drywall installations occur over bare wood frames. The advantage of this approach is that you only have to cut the board to size and use screws to attach it. However, some projects call for installing a new piece of drywall next to an existing installation. If the transition is an outside corner that is wrapped in corner bead, you might want to slip the new drywall in place without removing the existing corner bead.

Corner bead is metal sheathing used to guard the fragile edges where two boards of drywall meet. Common locations of corner bead include vertical outside corners and around entryways and windows.

The first step is to remove the old drywall. Use a hammer to break it apart and pull it off. Remove any remaining screws or nails projecting from the underlying frame. Leave the site as clean as possible. Chances are, the corner bead will bend as you pull the drywall from underneath it. Slight bending won't do much harm, but extreme bending might warp the corner bead and make it difficult to reattach later.

Drywall installers typically mount corner bead with screws or nails. If the installers used nails, it might be best to remove the old piece of corner bead and replace it with a new one. Prying the nails away likely will bend the corner bead too much, leaving it warped and uneven. If the installers mounted the corner bead with screws, use a screw gun to back the screws out. When you finish, the area under the corner bead should be bare and ready to receive the new piece of drywall.

Cut the new section of drywall to size and slip it underneath the corner bead. Use screws first to attach the drywall to the wood frame and then to hold down the edges of the corner bead. Corner bead has holes along its edges into which you can install the screws to make the edges flush with the wall. If you didn't bend the corner bead too much, it should be easy to hold the edges down with screws. However, if the corner bead is warped, you might have to install many screws to tamp the edges down. Once the installation is complete, you can finish the drywall installation as you normally would, using joint compound.
