Union Home Secretary Anil Goswami on Tuesday met West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Discussions took place on the law and order situation in the State after the blast in Jalpaiguri that left six people dead, amongst other matters. The situation in Bangladesh and its impact here in the State are also said to have come-up for discussion.
We discussed the law and order situation of the State. We discussed other things also, Goswami told journalists before leaving the State Secretariat. According to him, the State Government has sought funds to carry out certain projects. The Union Home Secretary on its part has asked the Government to send the necessary proposals.
Bangladesh situation
Meanwhile, State Home Secretary Basudeb Banerjee maintained that 80 per cent of the discussions centred around the situation in Bangladesh.
The Chief Minister has, however, not confirmed if discussions took place on the situation in Bangladesh or not. She claimed that it was a routine meeting. It was also not known if discussions took place regarding the Land Boundary Agreement Bill. Banerjee is known to have expressed strong reservations over the Bill and its subsequent introduction in the Rajya Sabha. The Chief Minister has been vocal in opposing the Bill.

Built on a former parking lot for Washington, D.C., school buses, the three-acre Washington Canal Park features sprawling green spaces, a rain garden, pavilions, an ice-skating rink and a cafe, as well as interactive water fountains and sculptures.
Located adjacent to the Anacostia Waterfront, the park's design called for installation of a massive stormwater sewer system. The system helps divert stormwater that might otherwise end up in the city's combined-sewer-overflow system. The system gathers stormwater from seven city blocks.
Some of this water is stored in two 40,000-gallon cisterns under the park. The water is reused for the fountains, toilets and irrigation, providing almost 95% of the park's water needs.
Other runoff is collected by tree pits, which were designed with curb cuts to collect and divert water from the gutter for tree irrigation. This system saves an estimated 1.5 million gallons of potable water annually and prevents overflow from polluting the Anacostia River during heavy rains.
Installation of the stormwater sewer system required 10 roadway crossings and meticulous coordination of the existing power, telecommunications, water and natural-gas mains.
An extensive, nearly 10-ft-dia brick-lined sewer, constructed in the early 1900s, ran underneath a significant portion of the site. Plans called for reusing portions of the existing roadways, but the team discovered that these roadways were of substandard construction; for example, in one location, an entire block was built over unsuitable soil with no subbase. The team decided to rebuild the roadway according to District of Columbia Dept. of Transportation standards. Subcontractor Fort Myer Construction worked evenings and on weekends to complete that portion of the project in time for the scheduled grand opening.

Soccer Rapid City representatives report that they have raised more than $500,000 toward the group's share of an estimated $4.5 million, 12-field sports complex in northeast Rapid City.
The group broke ground in November on the project off North Elk Vale Road that was approved for $3.8 million in city Vision funds in 2005. Project officials anticipate the complex will be open by the fall of 2015.
Soccer Rapid City, through its fundraising leg Dakota Fields, ramped up its efforts to secure private funds this past summer after getting a green light in April from the Rapid City Council to move forward.
"There are a couple gifts that will actually be in-kind donations. In lieu of cash, it would be contribution of services or contribution of material," Roger Tellinghuisen, executive director of Dakota Fields, said Monday. "The bulk of it is cash donations."
Aside from gifts and cash, Tellinghuisen said the organization is soliciting donations for naming opportunities at the complex, where fields, scoreboards or gazebos would display the name of a major donor.
Tellinghuisen said the group is remaining secretive at this point in the campaign about the total amount of money they need to raise for the long-discussed facility.
"We're trying to keep that under wraps for a little longer yet," he said. "Let's just say we are making really good progress, but we still have a ways to go."
Soccer Rapid City originally proposed a 21-field complex with an indoor championship arena with a price tag of more than $10 million. Additional fields at the 80-acre, 12-field complex will be added as more funding becomes available.
"We really do appreciate the companies and the people that have stepped up to make these wonderful pledges and donations, and we're anxiously moving forward with this project," Tellinghuisen said.
In a related development, the Rushmore Soccer Club and Rapid City Youth Soccer League have unified into one organization.
