But, most departments are crowded with civil servants who are mostly timid. Thus, any petition is rendered useless.
Ministries also suffer the same timidity, since the staff are made up of the same civil servants. Thus, a petition to a ministry is also useless.
People know that time does not permit a minister to write correspondence; nonetheless, the minister can direct the civil servants to respond to a petition.
However, if there is no reminder from the minister, there won't be any response.
This non-reminder by heads of departments is prevalent in departments and agencies. Ministers can express many deliveries to the people. However, if a minister does not remind his staff, all the promises will mean nothing.
One does not wish to disclose the departments with which one has had such experiences. However, these days, the media are asking the people to reveal all!
On May 30, I sent a report to the general manager of Celcom Axiata Bhd for selling Wi-Fi Broadband at RM95 a piece in Kota Baru as a promotion. In Tanah Merah, there was no promotion, so the price was RM195.
However, the said broadband service does not work in Tanah Merah.
Under the Consumer Protection Act, one is entitled to ask Celcom to take back the goods and return the money. However, until today, there has been no response.

Philadelphia, PA (PRWEB) December 27, 2013
Giroud Tree and Lawn has been awarded the prestigious and difficult-to-attain Angie's List Super Service Award for 2013. Based on 116 reviews in the categories of Tree Service, Lawn Fertilization & Treatment and Lawn and Yard Work, Angie's List members gave Giroud an A grade, the highest possible score.
Giroud Tree and Lawn is the only tree service and lawn treatment service company in the region to win the Super Service Award every year since the Award was established in the Philadelphia area in 2005, notes Lou Giroud, President and ISA Certified Arborist. Friendly staff answering the phone, on-time arrival, expert tree service and lawn treatment service programs by ISA Certified Arborists and meticulous cleanup are just a few of the ways we ensure that customers love doing business with us, he added.
Only about 5 percent of the companies that Giroud Tree and Lawn competes with in Philadelphia PA are able to earn our Super Service Award, said Angies List Founder Angie Hicks. Its a mark of consistently great customer service.
Super Service Award 2013 winners have met strict eligibility requirements, including earning a minimum number of reports, an excellent rating from customers and abiding by Angies List operational guidelines.
Service company ratings are updated daily on Angies List. Companies are graded on an A through F scale in areas ranging from price to professionalism to punctuality. Members can find the 2013 Super Service Award logo next to company names in search results on AngiesList.com.

The hissing of summer lawn sprinklers could become a thing of the past on the Sunshine Coast if tough conservation measures are adopted to buy time and save millions of dollars in water system upgrades. Major upgrades are needed to the Chapman Lake system over the next 25 years and even with more restrictive outdoor watering and universal metering, the price tag will be an estimated $36 million.
Some Sechelt residents were pressuring council to reverse their decision to build a new sewage treatment plant on Ebbtide Street. About 160 residents who questioned things like the location of the new plant and its high cost met in a citizens forum hosted by the Sunshine Coast Senior Citizens Organization and the Sechelt Sewage Coalition.
The outpouring of love and support for Mujtaba Saloojee and his family continued to grow along the Sunshine Coast with a major gesture coming from Extra Foods in Sechelt. Extra Foods, through its Presidents Choice Childrens Charity, presented a cheque for $20,000 to Muj and his family during a ceremony at the store.
Financial difficulties, an in-depth assessment by Environment Canada and a newly-filed warrant to seize the HMCS Annapolis could spell the end of the Artificial Reef Society of B.C.s (ARSBC) plan to sink the war ship in Halkett Bay. The ARSBC was set to sink the 115-metre destroyer to create an artificial reef in Halkett Bay (off the southeastern shore of Gambier Island) last fall but a final inspection from Environment Canada held up the process.
Work on building the new Gibsons Elementary School officially began with the construction start-up marked with a ceremonial sod turning. Dignitaries and members of School District No. 46 (SD46) spoke to a sea of students sporting yellow hard hats as well as many community members gathered for the big day.
Sunshine Coast students got involved in the provincial election through Student Vote, a chance for young voters to mark a ballot similar to the official one adults used. Thousands of students from across B.C. took part.

Do you need some time away? Far, far away? Look no further than Gayot's top 10 remote hotels worldwide, featuring top accommodations from the fjords of Greenland to an island in Tahiti. Whether you hike across steep inclines, glide in via floatplane or drive for hours off the beaten path, each of these far-flung gems promises to be well worth the effort. One of them is even in the USA, while another is built almost entirely out of salt. Enjoy the top 10 remote hotels around the world.
Saffire Freycinet
Tasmania Coles Bay Saffire Freycinet
Breathtaking and utterly unique, the avant-garde Saffire Freycinet was inspired by the coastal contours of Tasmania's east coast. Local timber, stone, leather and glass create a tactile experience that is designed to bring guests closer to nature. Accommodations include suites and private pavilions, the latter with plunge pools. In the lounge, guests can enjoy evening canaps amid the dramatic sixteen-foot tall fireplace and original 1950s furnishings from designers such as Charles and Ray Eames. The day spa emphasizes Tasmanian ingredients, and Palate Restaurant serves as a showcase for seafood from local fishing villages and wines grown in the area's Mediterranean-like climate. While this hotel is to die for, Mother Nature provides stiff competition for guests' attention complimentary outdoor activities include canoeing and bird-watching in Pelican Bay and nature tours of the Freycinet Peninsula.
Paddy Barry/Fogo Island Inn
Newfoundland Fogo Island Fogo Island Inn
More than just a hotel, Fogo Island Inn is a trust with a federal mandate to contribute to the economic well-being of the local community. The result: a marvel of modern geometric design that maintains traditions through partnerships with local artists, designers, geologists, architects, fishermen and chefs. Located off Newfoundland's northeast coast, this property has just 29 guest suites, named for the islets, rocks and shoals that can be seen from their floor-to-ceiling windows. Every textile and piece of furniture was locally made, from the quilts to the wallpaper patterns all of which offer subtle, elegant accents in the light-filled accommodations. On the menu at the house restaurant, island produce such as caribou moss and pine mushrooms prevail. Those who want to explore the hotel's dramatic surroundings can participate in marine encounters led by knowledgeable fishermen or embark on a guided tour of the subarctic landscape.
Palacio de Sal
Potosi Palacio de Sal
This is one hotel that's worth its salt literally! Located in southwest Bolivia in the majestic Salar de Uyuni, the world's largest salt flat, Palacio de Sal is built almost entirely out of salt. Walls, floors, tables, beds, sculptures ... you name it and salt is its main ingredient. Even the billiards table has a salt-block base. Not surprisingly, salt is showcased at the house restaurant, and along with a sauna, steam room and whirlpool baths, the property has a saltwater pool. As for what you can and cannot do here, licking the walls is against house rules. And if you think this place is too quirky for you, think again. Its beautiful ghostly presence in a vast salt desert makes it an experience not to be missed.

Pompano Beach, Florida (PRWEB) December 26, 2013
As 2013 comes to an end, its interesting to look at what happened to the real estate market as it continued to groan and grasp its way up slowly from the recession abyss. Across the United States, median home prices increased almost 10 percent in 2013. Some regions made slow progress while others were selling so fast, they feared running out of inventory.
Like many Americans, the recovering housing market led many celebrities to put their homes on the market in 2013. Stars such as Matt Damon, Kid Rock, Carrie Underwood, Howie Mandel, Steve Martin, Sheryl Crow, Bob Newhart, Suzanne Somers and Reese Witherspoon put their homes up for sale in 2013. What celebrity has the nicest home, best furniture, biggest pool or, What in the world were they smoking?
TopTenRealEstateDeals.com presents 2013's Top 10 Celebrity Homes For Sale:
Matt Damon's Miami Beach Home
Located on one of North Miami Beachs most exclusive and secure celebrity magnet islands, Matt Damon's La Gorce Island home is designed in the classic Old Florida Mediterranean-style. Though it has all the exterior character of the grand mansions of the Henry Flagler era, the interior is sharp contemporary. Damon and his new wife at the time acquired the double lots and their 1935 mansion dream home in 2005 for $14.5 million. The 12,705 square foot home has seven bedrooms, ten bathrooms, home theater and custom office. The enviable acre of premium waterfront land includes the main house, pool house with roof terrace and a two bedroom guest house. With 170 feet of water frontage on Biscayne Bay, it also has a dock and views of downtown Miami. Matt is asking $18.999 million.
Sheryl Crow's Solar Horse Farm
Sheryl Crow's Cross Creek Farm in Tennessee is situated on 152 rolling acres with a western-style saloon, barn, outdoor riding arenas, a building for farm equipment, large storage building, guest-staff houses, and a pool with waterfall and spa. One of the most interesting and timely features of the estate is Sheryls forward thinking by installing a solar system that is designed to reduce electric costs by 42%. Sheryl first listed the farm for $7.5 million in early 2010. She put the home back on the market in 2013 for $5.8 million.
Kid Rock's Balinese Paradise
His fans might expect Kid Rock to live in a log cabin with a couple of hens roosting on the porch railing. Its hard to picture him in the sophisticated Balinese-style mansion he now has for sale in Malibu. Kid's immaculate home is 8,305 square feet with dark hand-carved wooden columns and pristine white walled background. Large sweeps of glass open to the lanai, balconies and tropical landscape with views of the pool and guest house situated across the lawn. Inside, there are five bedrooms, five full baths, gym, large chefs kitchen and a formal living room that can be turned into a media screening room. Kid is asking $13.45 million.

Land clearing typically means using equipment ranging from chain saws to large bulldozers, excavators, backhoes or other heavy machinery to remove obstacles like trees, bushes, rocks, uneven dirt and other debris from a parcel of land. If the parcel is being cleared for fire safety, to make it possible to walk around the property or to restore overgrown views, then a selective clearing will remove all underbrush and debris but leave established and desirable trees intact. If the land is being cleared to become pasture or farmland most everything will be removed. And for new construction, often everything in the building footprint will be cleared, leaving an open area of bare dirt. Pensacola Land Clearing in Florida posts before and after photos of selective and complete land clearing projects.Typical costs: Land clearing costs depend on whether the parcel is flat, sloped, grassy, brushy, lightly wooded, heavily forested or a combination of these conditions. Other factors affecting price include local rates, local regulations, the total amount of land being cleared and accessibility. Hiring an excavation or land clearing company to clear flat land with light vegetation and few trees might cost $20 -$200 per acre; clearing more sloping land with overgrown brush and a few trees might cost $500 -$2,000 per acre; and clearing heavily wooded or forested land can cost $3,000 -$6,000 or more an acre, depending on conditions and whether the resulting debris will be burned (illegal in many areas and strictly limited in others), stacked in designated spots for later disposal or hauled away. For example, a New Jersey landowner paid $600 for about four hours of work clearing a 15'x100' area plus reopening a 70'x12' driveway on high, dry land with heavy shrubs and some medium-sized trees. A Georgia landowner paid $2,000 to clear pine and brush from about 1.5 acres, including clearing a driveway and digging a culvert, and $2,500 to clear about three-fourths of an acre in Florida. Do-it-yourself land clearing is possible but it's a lot of work and typically requires access to equipment or heavy machinery. A heavy-duty gas chain saw can cost $200 -$500 or more. Renting a backhoe can cost $100 -$350 or more a day, and buying a backhoe can cost $10,000 -$100,000 or more. Landowner James Starbuck posts a 44-page booklet and video segments sharing his techniques for do-it-yourself land clearing by one man and a backhoe. Related articles: Backhoe, Stump Removal, Landscape Design What should be included: There are many different land clearing methods, and the best one to use depends on the condition of the property and how it will be used after it's cleared. AskTheBuilder provides an overview of land clearing and the Virginia Cooperative Extension describes the pros and cons of different methods. Land clearing methods also vary depending on the equipment used. Videos demonstrate land clearing techniques using a bulldozer with a root rake, a backhoe and a mulcher. If the property is being cleared in preparation for a construction project, land grading or leveling is the next phase in the preparation process, and might be done by the same crew and equipment or as a completely separate project. Additional costs: Check with the local zoning and planning departments; a land clearing permit may be required. This might be free or it can cost $50 -$200 or more. (Typically a separate permit is not required if the clearing is part of an approved building permit.) Discounts: If the property contains trees, they might be sold as timber (to become lumber) or for firewood. Contact the state department of conservation or natural resources or the local cooperative extension program for advice on whether the trees might be valuable. Some small logging operations or firewood companies remove usable trees for free or even pay for the wood; get multiple estimates or bids, and ask detailed questions about what condition the land will be left in when the company is done. After the trees are cut down, stump removal can cost $2 -$50 or more per stump. Land clearing expenses for agricultural use may be tax deductible, according to the University of Missouri Outreach & Extension. Shopping for land clearing: Ask neighbors, friends or at the local hardware or feed store for referrals to land clearing or excavation companies. Typically a company representative will visit the property before quoting a price for a land clearing project. If possible, get several estimates. Verify that the company is properly bonded, insured and licensed. Ask for and check references, and look for complaints with the Better Business Bureau.
Article updated June 2011
I have gotten a wide range of estimates and do not know which way to turn.
