Jacksonville dumpster rental service, Sunshine Recycling, is currently working with Rock & Roll Demolition on a warehouse demolition. Sunshine Recycling of Jacksonville is hauling all discarded concrete to Independence Recycling of Florida, a company that specializes in crushing concrete and asphalt for reuse.

The project is an interior demolition on a warehouse that was previously home to produce supplier and distributor Fresh Point. It is being renovated by Sysco Corp. as they expand the International Food Group, which distributes to customers outside of the United States. The expansion is expected to create 60 new jobs in Jacksonville. Sysco operates in the US, Bahamas, Canada, and Ireland, distributing foodservice equipment and supplies to businesses in the hospitality industry.

Sunshine Recycling of Jacksonville is providing 20-yard dumpsters to collect the concrete and is making as many as seven hauls each day. Recycled concrete can be used in highway and road construction as a base layer over which fresh concrete or asphalt is poured. If uncontaminated, it can be recycled into new concrete and larger pieces have been used to control erosion.

Aqualux Carpet Cleaning of Dallas has announced the rollout of new Starliner Manufacturing truck mounts on their service vans. This performance-driven equipment has a large vacuum that will reduce drying times and clean carpets better than other truck mounts, said Brent Cone, Aqualux owner and founder.

The equipment works by producing heat through an exhaust-driven stainless-steel heat exchanger, which emulsifies grease and dirt and destroys bacteria. The Kohler Command 27-34 HP V-Twin engine is coupled with a Sutorbilt 45 blower, GP Emperor 1500 PSI pump, and Gates High-Pressure hydraulic hoses. Those features together are able to easily clean the toughest carpet and tile stains, as well as reduce drying time by up to 30 percent.

The custom-built frame is made of high-quality steel tubing and TIGER Drylac coatings, allowing it to withstand years of heavy use, said Cone. Further, the frame is built to allow for easy maintenance and operation, reducing down time.

The equipment also features a remote-controlled power switch, which reduces service time by eliminating the need to go back and forth to the truck to turn on or shut off the equipment. The remote-control technology can be programmed to a mobile device or key fob.

The widow of one of the two men killed when a retaining wall on a construction site in Maybrook collapsed Dec. 2 has filed a $40 million notice of claim against New York City and the city's Department of Environmental Protection.

The claim was filed on behalf of Doreen Winkler, whose husband, Scott Winkler, 50, died eight days after the collapse.

A claim, which had to be filed within 90 days of the accident, preserves the right to file a lawsuit later.

Winkler, of Monroe, was an employee of Precision Concrete Pumping of Albany. He was part of a crew working on a mock-up of an aqueduct project for the DEP when a concrete retaining wall collapsed.

The accident happened on property off Homestead Avenue owned by one of the general contractors, Halmar International Inc.

One worker, Timothy Lang, 53, of Saugerties, also employed by Precision, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was trapped under the collapsed wall for a considerable amount of time.

Winkler and another injured worker, Rafael Zakota, 37, of the Glendale section of Queens, were rescued relatively quickly and taken to hospitals. Winkler was flown to Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, while Zakota was taken to Orange Regional Medical Center in the Town of Wallkill.
