Anuradha Vellat, Bangalore, Dec 22, 2013, DHNS:
The construction of a retaining wall of the Kendriya Sadan Accommodation building in Domlur has been dragging on for the past three months.
The wall, which gave way on September 10, due to heavy rain, was part of a 12-storey General Pool Office Accommodation for Kendriya Sadan. The contract for the construction is bagged by DEC Infrastructure & Projects (India)Private Limited.
Construction has been taken up on 4,000 sq metre area since February 2012.
A tree and a transformer were also uprooted during the downpour. While the transformer was repaired in a day, the tree continues to remain at the spot along with other uncleared debris.
Damaged drains
According to Oomen, an affected resident, the wall has damaged the stormwater drain in the area.
The road nearby becomes sloppy. The pedestrian protection wall is also in a bad state. We have to also bear the mosquito menace since water gets accumulated overtime, apart from the dust and pollution from the construction site, he said.
Domlur corporator Geetha Srinivas Reddy accused the authorities in charge of the work of not listening to anyone.
Since the land belongs to the Central government, nothing much can be done. Though they have promised to restore the entire area once the project is over, one can only wait and see if this actually takes place, she said, speaking to Deccan Herald.

A MAKESHIFT erosion wall at McEwens Beach has to go.
The State Government has advised Mackay Regional Council to remove or fix the 230m-long, illegally constructed seawall.
But the council has opted to remove it completely, after an independent engineer advised it posed a "high to extreme risk to the safety of the public".
Mayor Deirdre Comerford said the State Environment Minister had advised it was council's responsibility to remove or modify the structure as it was on freehold land owned by Mackay Regional Council.
"Based on the engineering advice, we have decided to remove the wall in May 2014," she said.
"The department agrees with our proposed timeframe and has acknowledged the steps we've taken to make the area safe for the public," she said.
The timber retaining wall has been isolated by temporary fencing erected by the council in October. This left some residents frustrated by their limited access to the beach.
Cr Comerford and departmental representatives met with McEwens Beach residents on Friday to explain the situation and answer further questions on coastal erosion issues.
"We are governed by stringent beach protection guidelines and this structure has not been approved by either council or the State Government," she said.

Through the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit, we trust in the one triune God, the Holy One of Israel, whom alone we worship and serve.
God comes to us in free and undeserved favor in the person of Jesus Christ who lived, died, and rose for us that we might belong to God and serve Christ in the world. Following Jesus, Presbyterians are engaged in the world and in seeking thoughtful solutions to the challenges of our time.
Presbyterians affirm that God comes to us with grace and love in the person of Jesus Christ, who lived, died, and rose for us so that we might have eternal and abundant life in him. As Christs disciples, called to ministry in his name, we seek to continue his mission of teaching the truth, feeding the hungry, healing the broken, and welcoming strangers. God sends the Holy Spirit to dwell within us, giving us the energy, intelligence, imagination, and love to be Christs faithful disciples in the world.
More than two million people call the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) their spiritual home. Worshiping in 10,000 Presbyterian congregations throughout the United States, they engage the communities in which they live and serve with Gods love.
Learn about our history, theology, and mission works that spread the Gospel throughout the USA and worldwide.
