Before we deck the halls with boughs of holly and haul the holy back onto the decks for another listen - or, er, make a Best of the Year list before Christmas - I figured we should clear the decks, clean out the halls, dust off and dispose of the worst of the year. So here, now, are theworst albums I had to hear in 2013. Clink on the link of each item for the full review. Or make do with the prcis. Argue below and/or commiserate - at least you didn't have to work through all this muck.
And So I Watch You From Afar, All Hail Bright Futures: This is like a jewellery box and a slot machine started f**king and we're left with the porno-sleaze soundtrack that turned them on. AnikaBoh& Hollie, Peace of Mind: Acoustic shows (which weren't really acoustic at all and then the promoter panicked and rebranded the tour halfway through) then the winery tour with Fat Freddy's Drop and The Adults; what's next - a set of shows with the symphony orchestra? Careful what you don't wish for. This album is irrelevant on its own merit, what it is instead is an instant piece of tour mech.
Arcade Fire, Relektor: I hear music that is dressed up to seem profound, music with long intros, and outros, with just-competent jam-moments that flake away without ever getting funky. And I hear far too many f**king bongos.
Armin Van Buuren, Intense: I thought I'd left MTV on and there was a marathon of the one dance music track they play between their reality TV show marathons. And then I realised I never watch that s**t. Just like I'll never listen to this s**t again.
Badd Energy, Underwater Pyramids: It's hard to believe this isn't a debut. It's a second album...apparently.
Caro Emerald, The Shocking Miss Emerald: ...sounds like Lily Allen was forced to sniff an ether rag, got clubbed ont eh head and up to find herself trapped in a glass display case at Baz Luhrmann's house, made to sing and dance on the hour, every hour.
Congo Natty, Jungle Revolution: Big squelching bass farts dominate and it all feels like a surreal hangover from the student flatting daze.
Cut/Copy, Free Your Mind: The only reason this might fill some time, put a wiggle in your stride while you stand in line outside the club that's so hot right now for a week or two is because you've never heard the worst of New Order or the filler that Happy Mondays and Primal Scream plugged their albums up with.
Darwin Deez, Songs For Imaginative People: Natural selection says we won't hear a whole lot more from Darwin Deez - you can bet he won't send his fans a postcard from the Hamptons; he'll probably disappear there for two concurrent summers sometime soon on the family's credit card, write a book, sniff some roses. And peyote.
David Bowie, The Next Day: I kept listening - I even bought the vinyl. That didn't make a difference. I traded the record back in. Ultimately a very boring album with two good songs.

A mold outbreak in a River Strand community in Florida has caused quite a stir. In response to it, My Cleaning Products shared a mold removal tip how to kill mold fast and safe in an effort to help everyone dealing with a similar problem.
According to a report from bradenton.com dated December 10, 2013, the fungus has caused quite of a damage to the condo units that some residents even asked Lennar, the developer, for reimbursements, My Cleaning Products shared. Among those residents, it relayed, were RJ and Sharon Dominic, who requested that the $30,000 they used for the mold treatment would be reimbursed.
The Dominics, the report related, hired an air management service company and were told that the problem was caused by design flaw that led to the installation of an oversized AC unit. However, Lennar stated that it was because they left the unit too long without taking proper precautions that mold grew.

A mold outbreak recently took place in River Strand community in Florida. And needless to say, the residents were upset of it. However, the developer said that the fault wasn't on their end.
My Cleaning Products stated that mold could cause various health problems. Besides that, it said that it could indeed cause a huge expense. Nonetheless, those things could be prevented, it added.
If a mold problem is detected and treated early, MCP said that one could spare himself and his family from its many health risks. Damages to items and a big mold treatment could also be prevented, thus, avoiding the huge spending,
However, MCP warned everyone that there are many mold removal products made with harmful chemical ingredients. Instead of solving the problem, it said that the use of them could worsen it.
And so, for a truly safe mold treatment, it recommended Molderizer and Safe Shield among all the other mold removal spray. It cited that they organic-based and have also been proven effective by hotels, hospitals and mold remediation companies.

Almost $2 million has been saved as a result of the competitive tendering process for Stage 1 of the River Recharge Scheme and the Water Treatment Plant upgrade.
Kpiti Mayor Ross Church said the savings were significant and would be warmly welcomed by ratepayers.
Eight companies submitted bids. These were reduced to a short list of three - Downers NZ Ltd, Hawkins Infrastructure Ltd and the Fletcher Construction Company trading as Brian Perry Civil.
Council today accepted a bid from Downers for $7.6 million. This comprised $2.9 million for Stage 1 of the River Recharge Scheme and $4.7 million for the Water Treatment Plan upgrade. A 15% contingency for potential variations will push the total project cost to $8.8 million.
The total is almost $2 million less than the original estimate of $10.3 million.
Stage 1 of the River Recharge Scheme will involve the construction of a new pipeline linking four inland bores in the Waikanae bore field; the installation of three new bore field pumps; and construction of the ground water discharge channel and stream discharge structure at the Water Treatment Plant. The inlet works to the Treatment Plant will also be modified with improved filter screens and an automated cleaning mechanism.
The major areas for upgrade or replacement at the Water Treatment Plant include new raw water and high lift pumps, chemical dosing equipment and all of the electrical and control facilities.
Mayor Church said the Plant had been operating since 1977 and was now in need of a significant upgrade to ensure it could cope with future water demands and the need for quality drinking water.

BETHLEHEM, West Bank (CNS) -- Helping restore the roof of the Church of the Nativity is like touching a piece of the beginning of Christian history, said an Italian restorer who is heading work on the first phase of the long-awaited repairs.
"I am not a practicing religious person, but working on this church is very emotional," said Marcello Piacenti, 53, the on-site project manager and a restorer with his family's company, Piacenti Spa, which began the work in September. "I have restored many old churches in the world, but when I arrived here I knew I had arrived to the center of everything."
More than five years in the planning and researching, the restoration of the church's wooden beams and lead roof and its 38 windows represents the beginning of an ambitious project, said engineer Imad Nasser, technical representative of the Palestinian Authority's national committee for the restoration of the Church of the Nativity. Nasser said that, two years ago, it was estimated that the repairs would cost $15 million, not including the construction management fees.
Repairs are being done in several phases, as the funds become available, he said, with essential repairs such as the roof given priority. The next stage will include the completion of protection of the stone facade of the external walls once the funds are acquired, he said, noting that more than $2.7 million is still needed for that phase.
A member of the Franciscan order noted that members of the Catholic, Orthodox and Armenian churches, all of which have a presence at the Church of the Nativity, have agreed not to speak to the press in order to avoid any conflicts over sovereignty issues.
Though much care has been taken not to disturb the visitors and the church, Christmas pilgrims this year are being met with metal scaffolding, inside and outside, and protective wooden coverings around the marble columns inside the church.
Piacenti brought special steel scaffolding from Italy to assist in the repair of the wooden beams inside the slanted ceiling.
It will take the team of 10 Italian and five Palestinian workers about a year to complete their work, estimated Piacenti, whose grandfather began the family tradition of carpentry and restoration work. Piacenti and his four siblings made the tradition international.
Experts will analyze and study repairs throughout the restoration to assure the authenticity and quality of the work, he said.

MAYNARDVILLE (WATE) - A Union County woman is recovering after donating her kidney to a man she barely knows. The two met at their church in Maynardville.
Pastor Charles McClure says his church has a lot of praises to sing this Christmas after the generous donation.
"This is the greatest show of love that I know of," said Pastor McClure.
Lynn Shaw donated her kidney to Johnny Russell Wednesday at UT Medical Center. The two met at the Church of God in Maynardville.
Russell's kidney failed several years ago. He searched for a donor, but couldn't find a match until now.
After learning Russell needed a kidney to save his life, Shaw got tested and found out that she was a perfect match.
"She's just a special person. She's an angel sent from God is what she is," said Russell.
Shaw says she just did what she felt called to do.
"I think that's just something you do. If you have God's love inside, you want to be able to bless people if you can," said Shaw.

Union County woman donates kidney to fellow church member

It isn't very often you see a small business help out a community, especially during its beginning years. Usually much of their time is spent on themselves.
Kelbachs Appliance Repair is a local appliance repair shop and does appliance repair in Appleton Wisconsin. They have proved that it is easy to help others out, even if your business is just starting.
Kelbachs helped out a local woman in need of dryer repair. The woman, Jolene, is a mother of four trying to make ends meet.
Jolene had contacted St. Vincent de Paul, who in turn, contacted Kelbachs Appliance. Kelbachs replied to St. Vincent de Paul letting them know that they would be repairing her dryer for, and they would like to be the ones to surprise Jolene.
Kelbachs setup a time to go take a look at the dryer. When the appointment came, Joe Kelbach, the owner of Kelbachs Appliance Repair, headed to Jolene's house.
Joe ended up finding out that the rear bearing was worn out in the dryer. Luckily, Joe had a new dryer bearing of the same size. Joe fixed the dryer and cleaned up his tools used for the repair.
After Joe finished the repair he told Jolene that the appliance repair he had just finished was done at no charge to her.
Jolene was very surprised that someone would do something so nice for her family.
Kelbachs Appliance repair will continue to help out the Appleton Wisconsin community as it grows it's appliance repair service.

KNOXVILLE (WATE) - The South Knoxville apartment complex building that burnt to the groundWednesday lacked many important safety features thatfire investigators say could have made a difference.
According to investigators, building D of the Southwood Apartment complex had no firewall and no sprinkler system.
The building was constructed in 1968, when fire codes didn't require many modern safety features.
There are lots of apartments around East Tennessee, with different prices for rent and different amenities. But what do they offer when it comes to safety? What should you be looking for and what are property owners required to have?
"Most people looking for apartments are looking for aesthetics and costs. They're not really considering the danger of what might be," said Fire Marshal Danny Beeler.
According to fire marshals, the age and size of the building will determine what features are required for an apartment building.
Current fire codes require that apartment buildings with 16 units in one building have certain safety features like fire walls, monitored alarm systems and sprinkler systems.
"I think sprinklers save lives probably better than anyother single feature that there is as far as fire prevention," said Beeler.
Apartment managers should know what kind of safety features they offer, and theyare required to keep an up-to-date maintenance record.

WILLISTON, N.D. Firefighters here are working in cold temperatures after two large apartment complexes under construction caught fire early Friday morning.
Volunteer Fire Chief Darwin Stevens said one three-story apartment building was fully engulfed when firefighters arrived about 2 a.m. Friday.
Wind coming from the east caused the fire to travel along the rooftops and destroy a second building, but firefighters were able to prevent the fire from spreading to a third building also under construction.
This is by far the biggest fire Ive ever seen, said Stevens, who has been with the fire department for 23 years.
The buildings are in the Harvest Hills subdivision in northwest Williston. The first building destroyed was the furthest along in construction and was expected to open in February, Stevens said.
About 40 volunteer firefighters took turns warming up in vehicles as they fought the blaze. No injuries or frost bite had been reported as of 9 a.m. today, Stevens said, but there had been some slips and falls on the thick ice that has developed.
Firefighters expect to remain on the scene for at least today. Volunteer firefighters from the neighboring community of Ray are at Willistons fire hall to respond to other calls.
