We offer an unparalleled 10 Year Labor Warranty! Kitchen remodel, bathroom remodeling, and other home renovations entail several phases: design, product selection and procurement, and construction, to name a few. For many homeowners, finding the right contractors and/or suppliers for each stage of the process, and then having to coordinate timing and communication between multiple companies, can be a major inconvenience. Thankfully, for residents of Scottsdale and Phoenix, Arizona, and all surrounding areas, Premier Kitchen & Bath offers an alternative. Founded in 1994, we are a specialty interior remodeling firm that offers comprehensive remodel services. We will take you through the design process, help you select the right materials and products for your renovation, and complete all the necessary construction. We are 100 percent inclusive so you dont have to worry about managing multiple tradesmen or potential communication lapses.
As a total design-build firm, Premier Kitchen & Bath is able to complete any type of renovation for homeowners in Scottsdale and Phoenix, AZ, and all surrounding areas. Our kitchen makeovers, bathroom remodels, and other home renovation projects generally follow the same process. We begin with a free, in-showroom, consultation with one of our qualified designers. Through conversation we learn about you, your lifestyle, and your remodeling needs and desires. Next, a designer will visit your home to personally get a feel for the space, measure, photograph, and document the current conditions. Your following consultation will be back at our showroom, where your designer will present a comprehensive remodel proposal that includes several design concepts, product samples, and a scope of work.
Once the design and product selections have been decided upon, your designer will prepare a comprehensive document covering all the details of your planned bathroom remodel, kitchen remodel, or other home remodeling project. The construction process is carefully overseen by a project manager who will act as your main point of contact and provide regular updates. Once construction is finished, we will provide a final job site review with your designer and project manager to ensure your project has turned out as planned.

The average cost of kitchen remodeling for American households is currently at$22,134, according toHomeownersand could go all the way up to $50,000. Small projects or remodeling jobs with small kitchens may cost as low as $10,000 that could include painting, replacing the sink, installing a tile backsplash and changing the facade of the cabinet.
Starting in February and March 2019, homeowners will be busy closing deals to renovate their homes. If youre one of them and wondering how much youre likely going to spend for the job in 2019, this is your complete guide.
How Much Does It Cost To Remodel a Kitchen?
The average cost of kitchen remodeling for your average-sized kitchen will be over $20,000 The final cost will depend on the size of your kitchen as well as how luxurious cabinets or appliances you want to install. A major kitchen renovation may cost you anywhere between $40,000 to $70,000.
Admit it. Every time you watch Gordon Ramsay,Paula Deen, Rachael Ray and Tom Colicchio whip up delicious food on YouTube, you pay as much attention to the color of the kitchen cabinet and its simple-yet-aesthetic appeal as to the amount of salt that is added. But the task of remodeling your kitchen remains a mere footnote in the long list of things you need to do. Worry not. Heres yourstep-by-stepguide to what you need to spend on, how much to spend on it, and how you can cut costs without lowering the quality of your remodeled kitchen.
Americans spend an average of $21,000 on kitchen remodeling as perImprovenet, but of course, you can always spend a lot less by carefully aligning your needs with your budget. Make a list of items that are absolutely must-haves, and ensure that their costs are covered first and foremost.
Are you planning to change your countertops or your kitchen flooring?
Is it absolutely essential to replace your refrigerator or is it more important to fix the electrical issues in the kitchen?
Do you need a new sink, or do you have to replace the entire drainage system?
Do you need new cookware?
Remember, retaining the old style of the kitchen layout will go a long way in keeping your costs low. Of course, the more you add to the list of must-haves, the higher the budget will be; so keep that in mind. And if your list gets longer by the minute, then sit back and review. After all, you wouldnt appreciate the new-look kitchen if it makes a severe dentinyour finances. For example, a small kitchen can be renovated for as less as $10,000.
Laborcosts, according to theNational Kitchen and Bath Association, can range between 20%-35% of the total budget. But of course, this will come down if you decide to take matters intoyour hands, or at least help with the daily work.YouTube, for example, is full of videos that show you how to replace your kitchen cabinets, how to redo the countertops, how to select the right refrigerator for your house and how to pick the right colors for a newpaint job.
Not only will going DIY cut costs, there is always a touch of personalization that can be added. And the next time someone appreciates the color of your cabinets, you can always say I did that! But if you are someone who believes in the leave it to the professionals, there are more than enough people who can help. Find themas per your location here.Needless to say, hire only those contractors who are licensed, insured and ready to provide you with references. According to a recent survey, 88 percent of those who decided to renovate their kitchens hire at least one contractor.
Your long-term plans play a significant role in deciding whether or not you need a kitchen remodeling.Even if you are not planning to live in your house for a long time, remodeling the kitchen could tremendously add market value to the home if you plan to sell it.
Then make sure that your investments in kitchen remodeling are focused completely on building an updated infrastructure. Ensure that the electricals are up to date, the flooring is compact and the cabinets are not falling off their hinges. Electrical equipment, on the other hand, like say, refrigerators, ovens, stoves can always be refurbished instead of replaced.
On the other hand, if you plan to stay in the house on a long-term basis, you can even opt for a One issue at a time approach and replace all the things necessary over a longer period of time. This will ensure that your budget is spent more evenly and you do not have to worry about escalating costs. One downside of this approach is that you may lose the consistency of the kitchen design if you do it over a longer period of time.
And remember, the kitchen is a part of the house, so the renovation should be in tune with the rest of the house. This is especially important if you plan to sell the house. An average-looking kitchen in an upmarket house will bring down its price. Do not over-do, butdefinitely,do not under-do the renovation. Kitchen remodeling is the most efficient way to increase the value of a home. Roughly $15,000-worthkitchen remodel has a return of 92.9 percent resale value.
No one likes to be sipping coffee while a professional cuts through wood with his electricax, and there is nothing more irritating than waking up in the morning to the sound of tiles being trimmed as per the need. If you plan to live somewhere else, factor the costs accordingly in your budget.
If this seems expensive, maybe you can get the people to work at times when you are not at home. If you must move, how about calling old friends you havent met in a long time and visiting them? Make it sound like you missed them, and bunk on their couch if needed. This might sound a little cheap, and it sure is. It is cheaper than staying in a motel, for example. And if you save some money, invite them over for a good meal in your new kitchen.
Budgeting is only half the job done; you need to ensure that you finance it well. And unless you have a kind granny who is ready to lend you her entire savings, it is much better to focus on HOW you want to pay before HOW MUCH you want to pay. Due to theirtax-deductible components, home equity loans are the most favored options, along with refinancing, taking out a personal loan or taking a loan against a retirement plan. The Smart Alec around you will suggest paying for all of it with cash in hand instead of borrowing money. But think about it: would you rather borrow money at a low rate of interest or withdraw money from an account that is currently earning a high rate of return?
Maybe you would like to take a home improvement loan? Well, here are your options.Choose wisely, because how you pay for the renovation is as important as how much you pay for it. Also, in case you wish to get a loan, make sure you do this before the renovation works begin. It is unlikely that the contractors will not take moneyup frontfor the materials they buy, so it is best to avoid any last-minute issues.
Ask your remodeler or contractor if there is a bank they are working with. Usually, kitchen remodeling contractors have a deal with a certain bank on refinancing your kitchen remodeling costs.
Renovation means you will be left with a lot of things that need to be discarded. Or do they? You can simply take pictures of your old but usable equipment like refrigerators, ovens, gas stoves, chimneys and upload them on Craigslist or even Facebook Marketplace. It wouldnt hurt if the cost of new cabinet set is partly paid by an old oven, right?
Instead of throwing out your old equipment, you cant imagine how many people will line up to buy them. Facebook Marketplace is a great platform for this kind of local sale. No shipping fee, no other requirements. Personal pickup and cash up front.
Whatever your budget, it would not be a bad idea to factor in an additional 10%-20% for contingency purposes.Labordelays, factors like bad weather, or simply unavoidable circumstances like medical emergencies (accidents, burns) will push your costs up and you rather be safe than sorry.
Also, this can be seen as an added incentive: if you do manage to keep all expenses within your Budget (congratulations) then you can use the contingency fund to, say, fund one of the wish-list items for your kitchen. Maybe you can have a Japanese knife set you have craved for so long, eh!
Yes, a custom-built cabinet looks nice. But do you really need it when a standard fit cabinet will do exactly the same for half the price? Do not be tempted by the countless online discounts and clearance sales around you. Once you have decided on what you want (sigh, the limitations!!) at no point should you deter from the list.
Make sure that you have enough time to look for all that you need, and spend a part of your day looking for exactly what you want. Last-minute trips to shops and hardware stores are not really fun, andeven less so when you end up spending more than you had bargained for on things that you could have saved upon had you planned earlier.

Some builders like to install flooring after the cabinets are installed to save on cost, but you might prefer to do it before. No quarter rounds are needed.
You have several eco-friendly choices here. Cork flooringis made from stripped tree bark, leaving the trees intact. It's warm and inviting, but cork can yellow in sunlight. It scratches easily and moisture makes it swell.
Bamboo flooring is a grass, not a wood. It renews itself every three to five years. Ask for premium bamboo, made from adhesives that don't contain formaldehyde. Bamboo can be nailed, glued, stapled, or floated, and it comes in both horizontal and vertical patterns. Don't install it in areas that are likely to get wet.
Recycled carpetingis made from recycled plastic food and beverage containers. These vibrant color options tend to last longer than nylon carpets. It's a shock-free static product that doesn't emit volatile organic compounds, which are part of that "new carpet smell" but can irritate the lungs. Recycled carpets are stain-resistant.
Linoleum flooringis a manufactured product made from natural raw materials such as linseed oila binding agent obtained from pine trees without harming the treesrenewable wood products, ground limestone, and jute, a plant fiber. Linoleum floors are stain-resistant. They don't absorb water and they're biodegradable at the end of useful life, usually around 40 years.
Wood floorings, such as Brazilian cherry or white tigerwood, are grown in South America. They're harvested from well-managed forests with renewable resources. Brazilian cherry is an engineered wood made from 3-ply construction using formaldehyde-free adhesives. It's generally more expensive, but it's resilient and harder than oak.

Why should you estimate the cost of your kitchen remodeling project?
The kitchen is the heart of your home. Thats why a kitchen renovation can increase the value of your entire home.
According to industry estimates, homeowners should spend between 5% and 15% of the current value of their homes on a kitchen remodel in order to maximize their return on their investment when its time to resell. Ultimately, only 4% of homeowners spend less than $5,000 and only 9% spend more than $100,000 on this project.
Before embarking on this journey, the primary concern is to get the closest estimate of your budget. This is where our simple Kukun Kitchen Remodel Cost Estimator comes in handy.
Our estimator takes into consideration all the major factors that affect the cost of a remodel, including the type of remodel (addition, renovation, or expansion), the size of the kitchen, and the types of materials used. We also factor in your location, the age of your home, and the scope of the planned renovation.
Just follow the guide, answer the questions, and youll get an accurate estimate of your expenditures, including materials and labor!
You simply need to follow these steps and our cost calculator does the rest
1.Enter the type of remodeling task. Youll be presented with three options:
You simply need to follow these steps and our cost calculator does the rest
Remodeling the kitchen without any change to the walls
Expanding the existing area by moving walls within or outside the perimeter of the house
You can also enter the size of your kitchen on this page:
Measurements according to your specifications
2.On the next page, enter your zip code and the year the property was built. We do not share this information, but it helps us give you a better estimate because labor and material costs vary widely by geography.
3. If you wish, check the box with Include the equity I could be building in my house calculations to learn more. Simply enter your complete address to calculate your return on investment (ROI). The ROI is based on the real estate scenario and activity in your vicinity using permit data and home sales history. Please note that this is only applicable for an entire room with a down to the studs project finish level. Youll see what this all means in the following step
4.Choose the level of remodeling you want -- because not all remodeling jobs are alike!
A ready to sell kitchen remodel will give you the best return on investment possible without needing a permit. The renovation tasks may feature new flooring, countertops, faucets, light fixtures, paint, and hardware. It does not include new plumbing, electrical, cabinets, and similar works. This level is perfect for those who are preparing them to sell their home and tends to be cosmetic in nature so the home will present well.
This is a complete kitchen renovation. Your sparkling new space might feature drywall, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC installations, insulation, texture, paint, cabinets, countertops, flooring, trim work, new finishing fixtures, and hardware. A permit is required if you touch the plumbing, electrical, or move walls.
A down to the studs kitchen remodel includes everything listed above plus additional interior structural rearrangement, new doors, and windows. It may require custom materials, longer lead times, and stretched job schedules. This will require a permit. This is the level you need to strip all your walls and start fresh.
5. On the last page, where you can enter the categories of tasks you would like to include in your kitchen remodel, such as:
And there you go! You will now get an exact estimate for your kitchen remodeling project! You can now play around with your selections to arrive at a figure that best meets your budget.
Once you agree with this budget, you can choose to either apply for a loan, analyze your finance options, or simply hire a professional. We offer reputable kitchen designers who have worked in your neighborhood. Explore the contractor's profile for their online reviews, all their previous permits, and ask around your vicinity about their reputation
You can ensure an inexpensive kitchen remodel with a few steps:
Consider reducing the cost of cabinets and countertops. Hardware like cabinets comprises almost 35% of the total renovation cost. In the case of a small kitchen, the price for new hardware is approximately $6500. Look for existing options that you can use and see if you can do some installations and repairs yourself.
Break up your kitchen redo into stages. If you have budgetary constraints, segment the total project into affordable parts.
Be smart with what you replace. You are not required to replace everything. Check out your electrical components. Even electronic items can be reused or resold at second-hand shops.
When you are ready, decide your best financing option. We lay out several loan options and show your potential alternatives through our partnerships with financing institutions, based on your eligibility. You can even take the Kukun quiz to better understand the best loan alternative that works for you. Remember: Contractors will always ask for direct payment via cash, so its essential to be properly financed!

Wire maps handmade by Paul Smotrys in Industry City, Brooklyn, appear in the lobby and throughout the hotel. Photography by Adrian Gaut.
A trendy 200-room hotel on the Lower East Side isnt so unusual. And neither is it being fitted with gleaming cherrywood details. Classy and tasteful, check and check. But tranquil in-room services in partnership with the Headspace guided-meditation app? Alobby sound installation that creates music based on the weather? Original, hand-stamped Isamu Noguchi lanterns? All starting at $150 a night? Now were talking unique, and thats the vibe at Sister City, the 80,000-square-foot property on the Bowery from Atelier Ace, the creative agency that launched the game-changingAce Hotel in Seattle in 1999 thats grown to a chainlet of nine sites worldwide.
Kelly Sawdon, chief brand officer and partner at Atelier Ace/Ace Hotel Group, calls the ethos of the new spin-off brands first location mindful design, and says that its the logical conclusion of the Japanese-Scandinavian inspired less, but better movement. She adds, It lives at the intersection of simplicity and beauty, inspired by design thats purposeful, minimal, and authentically crafted.
Much of the work in the century-old tenement building, formerly used by the Salvation Army and expanded by Ace Hotel Group from 10 to 14 floors, is custom, from the terrazzo vanities and handy valets in roomswhich range from a tidy 120 square feet to 200to the built-in furnishings, which are also on display in the rooftop bar, Last Light, and the ground-level restaurant, Floret. Vintage furniture is peppered in for just the right amount of personality.
Forward-thinking touches include communal corridor pantries with refillable water stations and truly self-service, mobile check-in kiosks. Butlikely people will be talking the mostabout the Lobby Score concept, acollaboration with composer Julianna Barwick that came to life with Microsofts AI technology. We were listening to Brian Enos Ambient 1: Music for Airports and were inspired by the site-specific songs, Sawdon says. Then we wondered what music for hotels could sound like. Now guests will hear an electronic version of the snow, pigeons, and anything else thats captured by the next-generation camera up on the roof.

Retaining walls often serve a very important role of preventing soil erosion and maintaining the grade of a landscape. They often hold the land back, preventing it from sliding. Retaining walls can be as beautiful as they are functional and can be the focal point of a landscape. Many different materials can be used to blend with any design and the cost of a retaining wall can vary.
A new retaining wall usually costs $3,000 $8,500. There are several factors that affect the price of a wall, mainly labor and materials needed for the project.
Labor is a significant cost for any construction project, and that cost will vary depending on the size, scale, and complexity of the landscaping project. Labor to construct a retaining wall often ranges between $50 $60 per hour, but the amount of labor needed will need to be estimated.
Consider requesting a professional retaining wall estimate to get an accurate labor cost. You may be able to complete the project yourself as well, minimizing labor costs.
Retaining wall material can range in price from $10 $40 per square foot, with some material options including cinder block, wood, interlocking concrete block, natural stone, or poured concrete.
Cinder block is a cost effective material for a retaining wall, and usually runs between $10 $15 per square foot. Cinder block is often not the most desirable choice for a retaining wall since it is not structurally designed for lateral support and to hold the land back, but may be used for short retaining walls. Cinder block can be plastered or painted to improve the cosmetic appearance. Check out our concrete block calculator to estimate how many cinder blocks you will need for your wall.
Wood timbers are a great material for retaining walls since they are beautiful and strong. Wood timbers often cost $15 $25 per square foot. Wood walls often last many years, however they do tend to rot and degrade over time and will eventually need to be replaced.
Interlocking concrete blocks are beautiful and designed and structured specifically for use in retaining walls. Block walls usually cost $20 $30 per square foot, which can vary depending on the type of block used. Concrete block walls can last a lifetime when installed correctly and add beauty to almost any landscape. Estimate how many blocks you need for your retaining wall.
Natural stone retaining walls are very attractive, and stones can range in size from a few inches to a several feet. Natural stone usually costs $25 $40 per square foot but usually cost a bit more than concrete blocks to install. Learn more about installing natural stone retaining walls.
Poured concrete has become more popular for use in retaining walls as color and patterns have become more commonly used, making them look much better than a plain concrete wall. Poured concrete is often the most expensive choice for a wall at about $30 $40 per square foot, but is also extremely durable. When installed correctly a poured concrete wall will last a very long time with virtually no maintenance.
People often overlook some additional materials needed to install any retaining wall. A proper wall installation often starts with a solid base, sometimes gravel, sand, or concrete. Walls also need a way to drain excess water from behind the wall, which requires gravel, backing, and drain materials. After the wall is constructed fill material will be needed for behind the wall, but often this is available on site. Consider the cost of these extra materials when estimating the cost of your wall project.
Other factors can affect the cost of a retaining wall. Once common factor is the amount of excavation needed for the project and the material that needs to be excavated. Removing rock and boulders will be more labor intensive then removing dirt for example. The height of a wall can also affect the cost.
Higher walls need to have a stronger base, more drainage, more excavation, and often require more planning and engineering. Adding steps to a wall can also add to the cost, so consider that when estimating your project. Every property is different so always consider getting professional estimates for a more accurate cost assessment of your retaining wall.
All pricing information on this page is based on average industry costs, and is subject to variance for project-specific materials, labor rates, and requirements.

Get your weekend workout and an attractive, hard-working wall with this DIY-friendly project
A concrete block retaining wall is the perfect solution to control erosion, to eliminate a hard-to-mow slope, to add a planting bed, or to level an ideal patio area. These systems are easy to install, durable, reasonably priced and available in a variety of colors and textures. This article shows you how to install one in a weekend.
The wall we built was a weekend-long project and an exhausting one at that. It took a day to rip out the old, collapsing retaining wall, to dig farther into the hill to provide room for the backfill gravel and to help unload materials. It took another day to install the base, blocks and backfill.
Before launching into this concrete retaining wall project, contact your local building code official. Depending on the height and location of your wall, there may be structural, drainage and setback (the distance from the wall to property line) considerations. A permit may be required.
Unless you own a heavy-duty truck (and back!), have your blocks, compactable base gravel, sand and backfill gravel delivered. Blocks may cost slightly more at specialty landscaping stores than at home centers, but landscaping stores are often better equipped to deliver the small batches of base, sand and gravel that you'll need for installing the concrete retaining wall blocks. rolling yard.
Learn about choosing retaining wall material here.
The Versa-Lok brand retaining wall system we installed uses nylon pins to align and secure horizontal rows of 80-lb. blocks. Other block systems use lips, gravity and filled cores to connect rows and increase strength. Your system may differ, but most of the preparation and installation steps remain the same.
We used a transit level to establish a flat base. But unless you own or rent one and know how to use it properly, just use a 4-ft. level taped to a long, straight 2x4, especially for short walls. The tamper, brick tong and block chisel are available at rental yards.
