Denver gutter cleaning price and cost

    - November 6, 2018 by Mr HomeBuilder

    Google

Denver gutter cleaning prices are based on the number of stories, above ground square footage of the home, pitch of the roof, type of roofing material and amount of debris.

Denver gutter cleaning prices below are for standard asphalt shingle roofs or shake shingles.

They do not include tile roofs (ceramic, concrete, slate, etc.) that may need to be cleaned from a ladder depending on the pitch of the roof and accessability, take considerably longer and are more dangerous. We do walk on Tile roofs by using the proper technique. As a rule of thumb you can add about $40 for tile roof gutter cleanings but exact amounts will be established once on site. We have the training to walk on tile, wood shake shingle and many other roof types with out harming them! If you prefer us not to get on your roof we will have to ladder your home then the extra cost will be $60-$90.

*Detached Garage gutters are a separate charge (usually $20-60), so make sure you specify whether you want yours cleaned or not.

*Homes that haven't had the gutters cleaned in years and are particularly full of mud/dirt/plants, etc. may be more (usually $30-$60). The process can take a lot longer and a large amount of heavy debris will be removed.

*If we find that you have metal leaf screens that are screwed in we will remove them, clean the gutters and replace them for an additional $60. If you have plastic screens we can remove them to clean but will not replace them do to the plastic being so brittle.

    * Gutter cleaning properties that require travel over 40 miles from Denver are generally $60.

*We also test UNDERGROUND downspout drains for an additional $50. At the time we are cleaning the gutters. See our underground article.

    * Roof clearing of debris $40-60. We blow off lighter tree debris or bag the heavier debris that accumulates in your roof valleys(leaves, pine needles, small sticks). At the time we are cleaning the gutters. Bags full of leaf debris will be left by your trash or put in alley dumpsters.

    * Sealing per gutter seam $10.00. At the time we are cleaning the gutters. If they are leaking it may be a faulty seam or the gutters are rusting and may need more extensive repairs.

    * We can take a few pictures of the completed work for an additional $20.

    * If you would like us to haul the debris away the extra cost will be $20.

*Commercial gutter cleaning Denver and other cities will require actual on-site estimates. Please email me the property address so I can drive by and take a look. Thank you

How to Make Gutter Cleaning Easier

Why go through the back-breaking process of climbing up and down a ladder with tools and a hose when you can make a handy gutter-cleaning tool of your own? Here's how.

Step 1: Cut 2 lengths of pipeCut 2 6-inch lengths of pipe from the 10-foot section with your saw.

Step 2: Glue the short sectionsUse PVC cement to connect the 2 small sections to one of the 90-degree elbows.

TipDry-fit the sections together before gluing to make sure they fit snugly.

Step 3: Connect the other elbowJoin one of the ends of one of the small sections to the other 90-degree elbow with PVC cement.

Step 4: Connect the long pieceConnect the remaining 10-foot section of PVC pipe to the open end of the 90-degree elbow to form a long, J-shaped hook and glue a solid end cap to the short end of the hook. Then drill 3 1/8-inch-diameter holes in the cap.

Step 5: Attach a hose adapterGlue a threaded adapter onto the opposite end of the pipe and attach your garden hose.

Step 6: Clean the gutterPlace the short end of the hook inside your gutter and then turn on the water. Walk around the house holding the long end of the hook and three high-pressure streams of water will shoot out of the holes you drilled, cleaning the gutters.

How to Estimate Gutter Cleaning Prices – Window Genie Blog

    - November 6, 2018 by Mr HomeBuilder

Ever wonder if the company youre dealing with is giving you a fair deal with their gutter cleaning prices? This simple guide will help inform your hunt for the most cost-efficient gutter cleaners out there. Read on to learn some gutter cleaning price estimation tips from the Window Genie team!

    What am I paying for?

Typical gutter cleaning services clean your gutters of leaves, insects, nests, sticks, and other obstructions, bag the waste, and neatly dispose of it. Once cleaned, the entire system is flushed to ensure that the gutter and downpipes are fully functional. In some markets, additional services can be tacked onto the service. Ask your local Genie if the technician will inspect the gutter system, tighten fasteners, reseal end caps and outlets, and otherwise repair problem areas.

Typical costs you will see for gutter cleaning:

This quick and easy breakdown of common gutter cleaning costs will help you assess the value of the different pricing systems youll encounter on your search for affordable gutter cleaning. Theyre more affordable than you think!

A single-story 1,500 square-foot home with 150 linear feet of gutters will typically be priced somewhere between $70 and $200.

    A single-story 2,000 square-foot home with 160-180 linear feet of gutters will range between $90 and $225.

    A two-story 2,500 square-foot home with 200 linear feet of gutters will cost $100 to $250.

Common causes for a price hike:

You might have to pay a little extra if your gutter cleaning calls for any of the following special procedures:

A three-story home will often cost you an extra $75 to $200. This cost reflects the need for special equipment such as a 40-foot ladder or the need for a second worker for safety reasons.

Landscaping larger bushes or trees that interfere with the technicians ability to maneuver quickly will cause a price hike due to time spent safely moving and setting up ladders.

Gutter screens if your home needs to have these removed and reinstalled during the gutter clean-out, field technicians will be spending more time on the job.

Severely clogged downspouts can add considerable cost to your gutter cleaning.

***All additional costs will be discussed during your complimentary estimate!

The Story and Foot Pricing System

Traditionally, many gutter cleaning companies use a standard calculation that factors in the height and length of the gutter in order to calculate the final cost. For example, a company might structure their gutter cleaning prices by charging $1 per foot on single story buildings, and $2 per foot on two story buildings. This model of linear foot pricing is different than the square footage formula used by other companies, and could save money for homes with big deck and patio extensions.

    The Square Footage Formula

The name is rather self-explanatory, but deciding on whether this is a good pricing structure can be tricky. If a large portion of your homes square footage is comprised of deck, patio, and other gutter-free features, you may be better off with a linear gutter calculation.

    Why stick with a professional?

In todays unregulated internet climate, it is easy to find throngs of amateur handymen looking to make some honest money through gutter cleaning. Though there are some qualified individuals out there who have experience as a professional, you can never be sure of what you are getting when you turn to online classifieds. The only thing you can know for sure is that they are going to be cheap, and while that may sound great, it says a lot about the service you are about to receive.

However, when you cut your cleaning fee down way below market standards, it is just not sustainable; the business is likely only able to be profitable because it cuts back elsewhere. This could mean many things. The company may have no insurance or warranties in place to cover their employees and your property in the case of an accident that causes damage. They may be using improper tools weve seen many soda bottles cut in half being substituted for proper gutter cleaning implements. Whatever the cut back may be, it will ultimately affect the quality of the service you are about to get.

Gutter cleaning is not particularly expensive in the first place, and Window Genie offers a significant discount on this service when it is scheduled on a repeat basis. Ask your local Genie about seasonal specials and the Window Care program. Dont take any chances! Visit https://www.windowgenie.com/gutter-cleaning to learn more today.

    MOLD & MOISTURE

Seattle homes face a combination of factors not found in other regions. Unlike most cities in the northern portion of our country, our humidity problems occur in the winter. During the summer months, the temperatures are mild and the humidity is relatively low. Yet in the winter, while the humidity drops in most regions, our humidity increases. This provides an environment conducive to mold and indoor air quality issues.

Older homes located in Queen Anne and Capital Hill often contain asbestos and lead based paint. Many of these homes are due for major remodel projects, which can lead to health risks if the construction is not handled correctly.

Over the last 10 or 20 years, changes in the building code have led to far tighter homes. While this has improved the energy efficiency of the homes, it has had an inverse effect on indoor air quality. The climate in Seattle suffers from high winter relative humidity. When homes are sealed tight, the natural humidity combines with the additional moisture created by the occupants, leading to high relative humidity.

Despite these challenges, addressing indoor environmental issues in Seattle is often very cost effective. Because all of our humidity issues occur in the winter when temperatures are cool, many problems can be solved by simply increasing the fresh air intake (while maintaining a well heated home).

    2018 Tree Trimming Cost Estimates – HomeAdvisor.com

    - November 5, 2018 by Mr HomeBuilder

One of the joys of home ownership is having trees, but when their branches get too long and/or they start getting old, your trees need to be trimmed. Homeowners themselves can do this task, but, for the most part, it is best left to the professionals, particularly when dealing with large and/or damaged trees. The risk of injury is high, and professionals are trained and well-equipped to take care of all of your needs. Be sure to get several quotes and have a full understanding of what is included in each estimate before you make a final decision on whom to hire.On This Page:

The average cost to trim a tree ranges between $75 and $1,000, depending on a wide variety of factors. While you might be quoted around $150 for a medium-sized tree with no problems, you could pay upwards of $200 or more for a tree with diseases, pests or potential hazards to your home. Here are some other factors that play into the total cost of tree trimming and how to get the most accurate quote from an arborist:

Its no surprise that larger trees typically cost more to trim than smaller trees. Larger trees have more branches and may require additional equipment, depending on their height. Heres a breakdown of what you can expect to pay a professional to trim various sizes of trees:

Trees that are near buildings or power lines require additional time and effort because crews cannot simply toss the branches down as they work. Instead, each trimmed piece must be "roped down." During this process, a climber ties a rope around the branch or section that is going to be cut off. After the limb is cut, the section of wood is lowered slowly to the ground. This process takes much longer than simply tossing down branches, resulting in a higher overall cost.

The number of trees you need to trim will also naturally affect the overall cost of your tree trimming project. Make sure to include the total number of trees and their types in your quote request, so that you can make your decision based on a realistic estimate. You dont want to surprise the tree removal company when they show up by suddenly revealing that you have five trees that need trimming instead of one.

Trees that have endured some sort of trauma, such as a lightning strike, are not as strong as healthy trees and can become less stable over time. For this reason, unhealthy trees might need more than a minor trim. For instance, an unstable tree might also need to be cabled if it is at risk of falling onto a house or other property. While it may cost more for an arborist to trim and maintain a tree that has some scarring or other issues, the result will be a safer and healthier tree.

Other health issues can affect the amount of work that needs to be done to the tree, driving the price up for care.

There are myriad diseases and illnesses that can decrease the overall health of your tree. Here are some examples of the types of diseases that can affect your tree and lead to an increase in the cost of trimming and maintenance:

While trees are often home to a variety of harmless or even beneficial insects and other animals, some pests can damage and endanger your trees. This kind of infestation can lead to illnesses in the tree, such as rotting or fungal growth. Here are some common pests that can affect the health of your tree:

Tree companies often charge for drive-time, and that cost goes up if they are traveling from a distance. To keep costs down, hire a local company to avoid paying a premium for driving time.

Companies that are accustomed to trimming and removing large trees typically have a bucket truck that allows them to easily reach the top of even the tallest tree. However, if the tree lacks sufficient surrounding space for the truck, the trimmer will need to climb to the top, resulting in a higher cost. For example, clearing dead wood from an 80-foot oak costs about $1,050 with the use of a bucket truck, but the cost to clear the same tree is closer to $1,400 if it has to be cut by a climber.

It can be tempting to jump into tree trimming as a DIY project, and in some cases it is perfectly safe and reasonable to do so. However, without taking the proper precautions and having the right equipment, trimming a tree can quickly turn from a quick DIY project to a hazardous or even deadly venture. In the case of very large trees (over 60 feet), theres no question about it; go with a pro. Here are some things to consider before deciding whether to call in a pro for your shorter tree(s):

A tree trimming company already owns all the equipment and materials necessary to get the job done. Unless you have trimmed trees in the past, theres a good chance youll need to make an expensive trip to your local hardware store before you can begin your project.

Simple pruning and trimming jobs require hand-held pruners and loppers, which will cost you around $40 or $50. A gas pole pruner will get the job done more efficiently than the hand-held options, but will cost more than three times as much, around $180. For more extensive jobs, you may want to rent a heavy-duty gas tree trimmer. For safety reasons, you will also need safety goggles and a helmet to protect your eyes and head from falling limbs and branches, and gloves to protect your hands.

The safety hazards are significant in tree trimming, especially when working with larger trees. If you need to climb the tree, you risk falling and hurting yourself without a proper safety harness. Pruners can be sharp, so you need to be cautious when you use them, both for your own safety and that of those around you.

You cant always control where tree branches and limbs fall. In fact, a 2009 study performed by The U.S. Census of Fatal Occupational Injuries found that the primary cause of injury related to tree trimming was branches and limbs falling in unexpected directions. Finally, if your tree is anywhere near a power line, dont even consider trimming it on your own.

If you decide to trim your tree yourself, here are some tips and techniques to keep in mind during the process:

While the terms trimming and pruning are often used interchangeably, they are actually two different methods for keeping trees healthy.

Trimming is typically done for aesthetics and convenience and is performed when there are no concerns of overgrowth, disease, pests or other hazards to the tree. Trimming tree branches keeps trees looking great while removing long branches that can get in the way. Tree trimming can be done by a professional in cases of large or multiple trees, or by a homeowner who just wants to tidy up the look of the tree.

Pruning is done to keep trees healthy and involves the selective removal of particular parts of a tree or plant, such as buds, roots, and branches. In order to keep the tree healthy, pruning involves the targeted removal of plant tissue that is diseased, damaged, dead or otherwise structurally unsound or unwanted. Because of the specific nature of pruning, it is best left to a trained individual who can recognize damaged and diseased tissue and make sure that only healthy buds, branches, and roots are left behind.

Hiring a professional team to come out and trim your trees costs more than doing it yourself, but it is the safest option. There are some ways to save money on your tree trimming service:

    Steps:

1 Mix thinset mortar, then trowel a thin skim coat onto the backsplash wall.2 Smooth thinset with straight-edge trowel and wet sponge; let dry.3 Lay out the 12 x 12-inch tile sheets on countertop.4 Measure length and height of backsplash wall to determine tile layout.5 Spread thinset onto wall with straight-edge trowel.6 Press full tile sheet into the thinset.7 Cut individual tiles from sheet to fit around electrical outlets.8 Continue setting tile sheets across the backsplash wall.9 Use undercut saw to trim window stool so tile fits behind the trim.10 Use score-and-snap tile cutter to trim individual tiles to fit tightly around electrical outlet.11 Spread thinset onto the back of individual tiles, and press to wall; use spacers to maintain consistent grout joints.12 Use wet saw to trim tiles along the top of backsplash wall.13 Once all of the tiles are installed, allow the thinset to cure.14 Finish by using a rubber float to force grout into the spaces between the tiles; wipe off excess grout with a clean, wet sponge.
