Gateway Plastics looks to add 70000 square feet to Mequon facility – Ozaukee Now

MEQUON - Gateway Plastics received unanimous plan commission approval for two additions equaling 70,000 square feet.

The additions to theirfacility at 5650 W County Line Roadare both 35,000 square feet, according to Assistant Director of Community Development Jac Zader.

He said one addition will be on the north side of the building and the second on the southern side. The northern addition is for warehousing while the south is for replacement of larger equipment with smaller equipment, Zader said.

Gateway Plastics has a 280,000-square-foot facility, according to itswebsite.

Some material on the building will be used on the additions with trees and landscaping set to be added along the west property line, as well as additional security lighting on the property.

Another change to the property will be the addition of an access road off County Line Road, which terminates in a cul-de-sac. Zader said the main reason for it is mainly maintenance but also can serve as access if the area is developed furtherin the future.

No changes are planned for the parking lot, as the additions will only add a minimal number of employees.

Zader said Alderman John Wirth had expressed some concerns to him regarding trucking traffic. Zader said staff believes most of the issues are with Kleen Test and not Gateway Plastics.

Additionally, he said the developer mentioned there would be very little extra traffic from these additions.

Gateway Plastics started in 1970 and specializes in plastic injection molding, according to its website. It said they have expertise with in-house design of custom plastic products as well as in-house tooling, mold construction, warehousing, and distribution.

‘Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age’ Square-Enix’s Second Attempt to Fix a Troubled Game – Fandom (blog)

    - April 18, 2017 by Mr HomeBuilder

While 2006s Final Fantasy XII sold incredibly well, this PlayStation 2 game didnt enter the world under the most fortunate of circumstances. For one, it released smack-dab between the respective launches of the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, giving it no choice but to immediately feel dated. Andperhaps more importantlyFinal Fantasy XII faced some serious production problems: citing health issues, its original director departed, leaving another creative talent to deliver what could only be a compromised vision.

Thankfully, the story of Final Fantasy XII doesnt end there. On July 11, Square-Enix will releaseFinal Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age, which seeks to address the problems of the original gameall while bringing its production values up to the HD standard that became the norm 10 years ago. And while the games vision has no choice but to be compromised, this new version could stand as the best compromise FFXII has ever seen.

In traditional Japanese RPG fashion, Final Fantasy XII received a refurbishment of sorts in 2007 with the International Zodiac Job System edition. Most "international" editions typically graft on additional bosses and other small doses of content, but this improvedversion amounts to a significantreworking of the game's guts. Through the "license board" system, the original game allows every party member to master each available skillif you have enough license points, that ismeaning each character can end up feeling exactly the same by the end. After all, why bother specializing in any particular set of skills when you're empowered to go beyond specific roles?

To make party members feel more unique, International Zodiac Job System asks players to choose a specific jobout of some very familiar Final Fantasy classesfor each of them at the outset. This reworking does a great job of making the characters feel more unique, as each job features its own license board with a specific arrangement of abilities tailored to that particular role. The major downside, though, comes in how you're permanently locked into a job once you've made your decisionmeaning you could be stuck with a less-than-ideal party if you don'tdo a ton of research ahead of time. 10 years ago, Square-Enix tried their best, but they simply traded one problem for another.

The Zodiac Age approaches Final Fantasy XII's central issue in a slightly more thoughtful way than the International Zodiac Job System edition. Yes, you still choose one job per character, but, early on in the game, you'll also gain access to the "license board plus," which allows each party member to take on an additional job simultaneously. This means you'll still have the chance to make each character fill a unique role, but you won't be completely hamstrung if said role doesn't live up to your expectations. We don't yet know how this new take on the job system will play out over the course of FFXII's incredibly long journey, but right nowthis change seems like it could be for the better.

The job system doesn't stand as the only thing being changed in The Zodiac Age, as Square-Enix will be including some other minor additions to make this version feel definitive. The Zodiac Age now features an optional transparent overlay map that sits right on top of the actionmeaning you won't have to keep expanding your traditional mini-map to get your bearings. And, along with including a fully remastered soundtrack, The Zodiac Age will also feature eight new songs by the original game's team of composers. If you enjoyed Final Fantasy XII's stellar soundtrack, this should come as extremely good news.

If anything, it's nice to see Square-Enix isn't content to simply "HD-ify" one of the two previously-existing editions of Final Fantasy XII. On the surface, The Zodiac Age's addition of a second job per character may seem minor, but it amounts to an incredible amount of work on Square-Enix's partwork they didn't necessarily have to do. And with any luck, their efforts could end up making The Zodiac Age Final Fantasy XII's definitive edition when it launches for the PlayStation 4 this July 11.

Netflix misses subscriber target, but firm outlook helps shares higher – Yahoo News

    - April 18, 2017 by Mr HomeBuilder

By Lisa Richwine and Narottam Medhora

(Reuters) - Streaming video pioneer Netflix Inc ended the first quarter with fewer customers than Wall Street expected but issued a bullish forecast on the number of new subscribers it expects by mid-year, in a positive sign for its big international expansion.

The company pushed back the next season of its defining hit, "House of Cards," and other programing to the second quarter, which should boost the number of new subscribers in that period, Netflix said.

It added just under 5 million subscribers globally in the first quarter and expects 3.2 million more in the seasonally slow second quarter. Analysts had forecast nearly 2.4 million for the second quarter, according to FactSet.

Netflix shares, which typically swing wildly after earnings reports, dropped as much as 3 percent in after-hours trading before rebounding to gain 1.3 percent.

The company, which shook up Hollywood with its monthly, on-demand streaming service, said it expects to top 100 million global customers this weekend, and the after-hours share move put it on track to open at a record high.

Netflix has expanded around the world over the last few years, betting that its U.S. formula would pay off in other countries. Opening in new markets and creating shows in additional languages was an expensive proposition.

Netflix earnings per share in the first quarter beat Wall Street targets due to the change in timing of "House of Cards," which pushed costs into the second quarter, boosting operating margins from January through March and reducing them in the second quarter.

"We have come to see these quarterly variances as mostly noise in the long-term growth trend and adoption of internet TV," the company said in its quarterly letter to shareholders.

For the quarter that ended March 31, Netflix added 3.53 million subscribers outside the United States. (http://bit.ly/2puJ1Yt)

Analysts on average had estimated 3.68 million additions, according to research firm FactSet StreetAccount.

In the United States, the company added 1.42 million subscribers, compared with analysts' average estimate of 1.50 million.

The Los Gatos, California-based company said revenue rose 34.7 percent to $2.64 billion in the quarter.

Net income rose to $178 million, or 40 cents per share, from $28 million, or 6 cents per share.

Netflix said it expects to add 600,000 subscribers in the United States in the current quarter, above the FactSet estimate of 364,000.

In international markets, Netflix expects to add 2.60 million subscribers, above the average estimate of 2.09 million.

Up to Monday's close, Netflix's stock had risen nearly 19 percent in 2017, outperforming the roughly 5 percent gain in the broader S&P 500 index.

Kingsman 2 Images & Details Introduce the Statesmen – Screen Rant

    - April 18, 2017 by Mr HomeBuilder

As we button up our suits and prepare to head out on another mission, additional images and details are coming in forKingsman: The Golden Circle.Once again teaming-up Taron Egertonand Colin Firth for more spy-fuelled mayhem, this time they will be joined by the likes of Jeff Bridges, Julianne Moore, and Channing Tatum, among others.

The latest look atMatthew Vaughns espionage sequel certainly gives the impression that the second Kingsman film will be an all-guns-blazing affair. Heading Stateside, it looks like the saying rings true and everything really is bigger in America.

In an article featured on Empire Online, Vaughn revealshis giant plans for the film and also provides a sneak peak at some of the cast in action. With the first film involving a four-minute brawl in a church, how does Vaughnintend on topping the sheer madness of the original?

Theres an opportunity with Kingsman 2 to make it bigger and bolder and funnier and crazierThe church sequence, everyone wants something like that, but weve got action sequences which are just as original but different.

Kingsman: The Secret Service shocked audiences with itsgraphic violence and all-star cast, but what else would you expect from the man who brought us Kick-Ass? The epic scale of The Golden Circle can certainly be quantified by the new additions to the cast and promise of more stunts. This time, we will be focusingon two teams of agents and introduce the American-based Statesmen. Jeff Bridges will be playing their version of Colin Firth, heading up the team as Agent Champagne. Berry will play tech-guru Ginger, while Pedro Pascal is Agent Jack, teaming up with Egertons Eggsy to take down Julianne Moores Poppy. Vaughn describes this films villain asAmericas sweetheart gone wrong.

As for these images they offeranotherlook at the stetson-sporting Tatum, who has gone full Indiana Jones it would seem. He portrays Agent Tequila, described as the cockiest member of the Statesman. Vaughn also teased that a move to a new location allowed him to mix up the dynamic of the characters and more away from the stiff-upper-lip of Firths Harry Hart:

Theyre great characters. Theyre multi-billionaires with huge jets, and their base is a giant distillery in Kentucky. Weve got all this fun Americana and were combining it with the Englishness.

The second image gives a closer look at Eggsy, who has come a long way from his council estate days at the start of 2015s Kingsman. While Eggsy may have brushed-up his image and learned a few things last time, Vaughn revealed that his story is far from over:

Weve got a huge arc for Eggsy.Where does he go? What does he have to learn? And now hes got a huge moral dilemma the audience will totally relate to.

While there may be a slew of new additions, expect the story to still very much be about Harry and Eggsy. While we twiddle our thumbs waiting in anticipation for a trailer, Kingsman: The Golden Circle promises to deliver big on its promises and attempt to top its predecessor when it hitstheaters.

Unless youre attached to a corporate network with a well-managed Update Server, Win10 will give you all of Microsofts patches, according to Microsofts schedule. You can usually keep the reboot limited to a time when you arent working, but the patches come whether you want em or not. Worse, if you uninstall a patch, every time you reboot or log on again, the same patch comes barreling at your machine. Its like Sisyphus 10.0.

As long as Microsofts patches, thats great. But the minute theres a problema faulty driver, a cumulative update that refuses to install, a conflict between the patch and one of your programsforced updating can cause mayhem.

Fortunately, Microsoft has a program that allows you to block and hide specific updates. Wushowhide, known by its cryptic Knowledge Base number KB 307930, scans to see which updates are pending and lets you hide individual updates.

To use it, head over to KB 307930, then download and stick wushowhide.diagcab on your machine. Next, follow these steps precisely:

    1. Run wushowhide.diacab.

    2. This parts important: Click the link marked Advanced. Uncheck the box marked "Apply repairs automatically." Click Next.

    3. Wushowhide will run for a long time. When it comes back up for air, click the link to Hide Updates. You see a list like the one in the screenshot.

    4. Check the update(s) you want to avoid, click Next, then Next again. The chosen patch(es) wont be installed, until you go back and uncheck it.

Depending on your version of Win10, you may have options to slow down updates. No matter what Win10 says, this tool will block an update dead in its tracksbut watch out. If Microsoft releases a new version of a patch, itll switch off the hidden checkmark, so you have to go back and hide it again.

The Top 5 Ways to Save Money on Heating and Cooling – KVAL

    - April 18, 2017 by Mr HomeBuilder

Sick of high energy costs or looking for ways to reduce your carbon footprint? There are some simple things you can do to improve the efficiency of your household's energy usage. Which of these tips will you apply to your home this summer?

    1. Maintain your heater and air conditioner

Once a year, it's a good idea to have a certified HVAC technician inspect your equipment to check for component failure, refrigerant leaks, and assess ductwork. Changing your air filter once a month and clearing grass and leaves from outdoor units also helps keep your equipment functioning at full capacity.

Clean systems are more efficient and a proper routine maintenance helps your system last longer. If your system is still under warranty, most manufacturers require annual maintenance to maintain your warranty.

    2. Fix weather-stripping

Weather-stripping is the material around doors and windows that seals your house from the elements. It naturally breaks down, tears and peels up with age and use. If you see damage to your stripping or feel a draft when you hold your hand near a crack, that's a sign that it's time to replace your stripping.

This Old House estimates you could save 10 to 15 percent on your utility bill simply by improving the insulation around your windows and doors. Stripping is easy to install and usually only requires you to measure, cut and nail it to fix it in place.

    3. Install insulating blinds or drapes on your windows

According to Spark Energy, the average home loses 25 percent of its heated or cooled air through windows. Older windows allow the most extreme losses, but even newer double-paned, properly installed windows let some heat and cold seep through.

Installing new windows is a good option when you have the budget and your windows need updating, but if you cannot afford the investment, insulating drapes or blinds could do the trick. There are a variety of options on the market with styles and colors to match any home decor. Plus, most homeowners can install drapes or blinds themselves.

    4. Use a programmable thermostat

Rather than manually raising and lowering the temperature on your thermostat, consider buying a programmable thermostat that will handle the adjustments even when you forget.

Programmable thermostats can save money by automatically adjusting temperature at night time or when away. Experts at Addcox say dropping the temperature between 2 and 3 degrees can save an estimated 10% on your utility bills. Dropping the temperature in your house more than 4 degrees can cost you higher utility bills and make your equipment work harder and longer.

All electric systems, may greatly benefit by adding an outdoor temperature sensor in addition to your programmable thermostat. This will give the system the ability to manage when and how the emergency heat is being used. Most utility companies will offer a cash incentive to have a heating contractor install a programmable thermostat and outdoor sensor.

    5. Replace old heaters and air conditioners with high-efficiency versions

If your air-conditioning unit is 10 years or older or your furnace is 15 or older, it could be time to replace them with upgraded units. Energy Star says you could save 20 percent on your utilities with a high-efficiency air conditioner and 15 percent with a new furnace.

Upgrading your system not only saves you money on your utility bill, but high efficiency systems come with rebates and tax credits from your utility company and the state. According to Energy Star, 2017 will be the last year to get Tax Credit rebates on new heating equipment.

To get your systems assessed, call Addcox Heating and Cooling. The Addcox Heating family has been selling, servicing and installing heating and cooling systems for over 30 years. Addcoxs experts can look over your systems to identify efficiency and duct issues and save you money on your energy bills. Addcox Heating Center offers the best warranties in the industry and can maximize all your incentives on a new system. Learn more at http://www.addcox.com.

Don’t go green with cellulose – The Star Beacon

    - April 18, 2017 by Mr HomeBuilder

From using reusable shopping bags to driving hybrid cars, consumers have been persuaded they can do their part to protect the environment by changing their behavior. Everyones going green these days, even Americas housing industry.

Homebuilders and renovators are installing a variety of high tech energy saving appliances, heating, and cooling systems. And, more and more theyre using cellulose insulation because, they say, it makes homes more energy efficient.

Green advocates back it all even though the use of cellulose insulation (chemically treated recycled newsprint) may not be all it is cracked up to be.

The Better Business Bureaus National Advertising Division dinged a major cellulose insulation manufacturer for using studies from the late 1980s and early 1990s to back up claims its made related to the efficiency of its product. According to the report, the evidence for such assertions as cellulose is from 20 percent to 50 percent more effective than fiberglass and cellulose insulation can reduce your utility bill by up to 40 percent is insufficient, yet these claims commonly appear in industry marketing materials.

This matters because its just these kinds of unsubstantiated performance claims that earned glowing endorsements for the material from many green advocates. Its a concern, obviously, but not nearly so much as the now uncertain claims made about cellulose insulations safety and toxicity.

On some promotional materials, the producers of cellulose insulation claim boric acid the second largest ingredient, added as a fire retardant lowers the risk of some cancers and is six times less toxic than table salt.

That not what the National Institutes of Health thinks. Its a dangerous substance, so much so that the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration classified it hazardous under the Hazard Communications Standard. A U.S. Department of Health and Human Services toxicology study identified boric acid as a reproductive toxin.

A 2006 joint study by HHS and NIH on cellulose insulation exposure in the work place concluded the research on any association of cellulose insulation and respiratory disease in humans is insufficient. One would hope the lack of any epidemiological studies would prevent the industry from making outlandish claims regarding non-carcinogenicity, but thats not where things seem to be going.

The red flags dont stop there. Per OSHA protocols, workers that install cellulose insulation are required to wear dust respirators and other protective gear when handling the material. You dont have to think too hard about that to conclude the material is dangerous in some form or fashion. Just ask Dirty Jobs Mike Rowe, who tackled the subject on an episode of his hit TV show.

Contrary to claims from cellulose insulation manufacturers, it is also not the cure all for preventing residential fires. Federal government safety agencies require cellulose manufacturers to label their products as fire hazards. Since 2016, there have been multiple fires attributed to cellulose insulation around the country. These fires, in Waterloo and Carroll, Iowa; Rexburg, Idaho; Gladwin and Burtchville, Michigan; Asheville and Kinston, North Carolina; Limerick, Pennsylvania; Layton, Utah; and Yuba City, California, have destroyed homes and apartment buildings alike and left families devastated.

Increasing the energy efficiency of the home is a good idea, just not at the expense of safety. Consumers deserve to know what going into their homes. The cellulose insulation folks need to clean up their act.

Laser Electrical delivers a cutting-edge approach – Riverine Herald

    - April 18, 2017 by Mr HomeBuilder

LASER Electrical has come a long way since Gary Edwards started it in 1981.

Back then it was known as Moama Electrical Service before the business joined the Laser group family.

With more than 35 years under its belt, the business has a range of professionals specialising in commercial, domestic, electrical, refrigeration and mechanical services.

That includes four A-grade qualified electricians (including three accredited solar designers and installers), five local electrical apprentices, a fully-qualified refrigeration mechanic and two local plumbers.

Not to mention its three friendly office staff, such as Jo Lowndes.

We have a strong reputation for reliable and quality service and strive to be connected with numerous organisations within the local community, she said.

We dont just install air conditioning, solar and electrical products we are expert designers.

We source quality products and are committed to meeting the needs of our customers; hopefully we can exceed their expectations.

One of Laser Electricals most popular services is advice and installation for its air conditioning products.

Through dealing with both domestic and large commercial sites, it has accumulated years of experience with design and installation of a variety of cooling and heating products, and is a dealer for Brivis, Mitsubishi Electric, Cannon and Real Flame gas log fires.

Ms Lowndes said natural gas was proving popular for heating in the region and customers could access rebates for the coming cooler months.

We have joined the Australian Gas Network Campaign to support gas appliance rebates and can advise on the savings each customer may be eligible for, she said.

The Victorian Government offers additional incentives for turning to gas heating, particularly when you are moving from electricity for heating and hot water.
