A live baby duckling was Marie Palmer's inspiration.
For Theresa Schwab, it was a miniature wooden gazebo.
And Susann Beardsley turned to a toy bunny.
The three used ideas as individual as themselves, but the result was the same they fashioned a fun and stylish Easter bonnet.
And they are the winners in the Trib's Easter Bonnet Challenge.
Even though the era of wearing a bonnet with all the frills upon it for the Easter parade might have passed, there are still people who love those elaborate hats. So, the Trib challenged readers to design and decorate fantastic bonnets festooned with ribbons, flowers, chicks and bunnies or whatever struck their fancy.
They could start with a plain hat or create one from scratch with foamboard or cardboard. The trio was selected based on creativity that pushes the envelope, and they all did.
Prizes are a $50 gift certificate to Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens, $50 gift certificate to Michael's and a spring bouquet delivery.
It was a fun project, says Schwab of Ligonier. I have always liked the old days when people really dressed up for the Easter holiday. I love hats, and (Duchess of Cambridge) Kate Middleton inspires everyone to wear hats, especially fascinators. They are so pretty and elegant.
Collecting gazebos for her daughter when she was a child was a passion for Schwab, because it symbolizes the town where she lives and the Ligonier Diamond where a real gazebo is one of the first landmarks people see when they drive through town.

A Note on Fair Use: These juxtaposed scenes create a new work of art that is stimulating and enriching for the general public. It is for nonprofit educational purposes. It allows viewers to contemplate the infinite possibilities for staging Wilson's written language by exploring some possibilities of what that language sounds like and looks like on stage/screen. The conversations this new work of art allows cannot happen without it; the whole of this new work elicits an academic conversation that is otherwise impossible as it allows us to explore Wilson's words. The difference between the brevity of individual clips used compared to the length of that work as a whole is so substantial that the potential market for the original commercial product is not diminished; on the other hand, this new work of art opens up the market to new customers that may have otherwise not known of the original film/play. Thus, this new work of art is protected under both Fair Use, initially indicated as "comment, teaching, scholarship, and research" under Title 17, Section 107, but substantiated by the points above.

Teamwork helps mend burnt SW fences
MORE than 115km of fencing will be replaced following February's devastating Northcliffe bushfire, thanks to teamwork by representatives of affected landowners, Manjimup Shire Council, businesses and community groups.
Fencing was affected on 92 rural properties across 56 holdings in the area scorched by the conflagration - becoming known locally as the O'Sullivan bushfire for where it was ignited by lightning.
"The logistics around dismantling and reinstating fencing, including the sourcing of material, has been one of the priorities for the business continuity sub-committee during the recovery phase," shire president Wade DeCampo said.
After two meetings between relevant parties, Southern Wire has proposed to provide fencing materials and resources at a reduced cost. Additionally, volunteer organisation Blazeaid has set up at the Northcliffe Recreation Centre and will help rebuild fences.
Other community groups helping out include Bunbury Men's Shed and Manjimup Lions Club.
"We're anticipating there will be volunteers in the region for up to three months, depending on the number of landowners who take up the initiative and the number of volunteers that come forward," Cr DeCampo said.
"Again, our region is being blessed with the kindness of volunteers who were instrumental during the fire and are proving to be the same in the recovery phase."
To register as a volunteer or inquire about fencing assistance, contact Brian Carr at north cliffe.blazeaid@gmail.com or on 0488 642 579, or Cedric Bettley from Bunbury Men's Shed on 0419 940 381.
Landowners who want to check their eligibility for reduced-cost fencing can contact shire recovery coordinator Paul Bawden at paul.bawden@manji mup.wa.gov.au or on 9771 7777.
