The Tao of Lifestyle: The Way of True Self

Posted by Amy Chini on Feb 26, 2015 in Chinese Medicine, The Tao of Lifestyle, Three Sisters | 0 comments

The Way of your true self is this: You are a temple of miracles, a living altar of soul and cells. As a lovechild of heaven and earth, you are angel and animal entwined, a creative genius illuminating cellular structure. When you look through the eyes of your true self, you see your flesh and spirit as equals, merging as creature and creator. Your body is heavens feet and your spirit, earths wings. Through you they express and embody the Way.

Wind dancers are symbols of movement occurring from a solid base and can symbolize the abundance, creativity, or other qualities you want to unfurl and enhance in life. Always choose one that, as it captures the wind, causes your spirit to soar.

Your heart, the sanctuary of heaven and earth, is the home of your true self. As you rekindle your heart, the wonder and majesty of life returns. Your spirit arises from a dark cloud of amnesia and you soar once again into the boundless expanses of your imagination. Your body awakens from the anesthesia of the past, transforming numbness into streams of pleasure. The voices of your senses become crystal clear, guiding you to further joy. Reunited once again with the full circle of life, your heart becomes the enchanted abode where heaven and earths beloved offspring you can thrive.

In Feng Shui, the dining room is the place to partake of the bounty of the earth and replenish our bodies with life-sustaining Chi. Our cultural tendency is to rush through meals, pounding our food down while perched at the kitchen counter; or eating while standing over the sink, driving, or watching television. The trouble is, as the fine art of dining is relegated to the occasional special event, we are starving ourselves energetically. By taking the time to eat slowly and thoughtfully, we are receiving the full vitality of our food, and in every way, nurturing ourselves.

Iran Nuke Deal Could Help It Mend Fences With Saudi Arabia

    - February 28, 2015 by Mr HomeBuilder

    By Cecily Hilleary, VOA

After years of mutual mistrust and jockeying for regional power, Saudi Arabia and Iran may be on their way to mending fences, analysts say.

Mutual concerns over the emergence of the so-called Islamic State group in the region and Irans impending nuclear deal with the West are providing stimulus for Riyadh and Tehran to head towards detente, analysts say.

If there is a deal on the nuclear issue, then this will bring Iran back as a participant in the dynamics of the international community, which will force it to become more pragmatic and more moderate, said Lina Khatib, director of the Carnegie Middle East Center in Beirut. And this is in Saudi Arabias interests because the more extreme Iran becomes, the more threatening it becomes.

    From friends to rivals

Saudi Arabia is a conservative Sunni Islamic kingdom, home to Islams holiest sites, Mecca and Medina. As such, it regards itself as the rightful leader of the Islamic world.

Iran is a Shiite Islamic republic, which has sought to exert religious influence over Shia populations elsewhere in the region.

Some four decades ago, both countries were relatively politically aligned and had friendly relations with the West. But things changed after the 1979 revolution in Iran and the return of exiled Ayatollah Rouhollah Mousavi Khomeini, who resented the Saudi kingdoms relationship with the West.

The Islamic Republic quickly started exporting the revolution in the Middle East, said Khatib. They were trying to get Shia populations in the region to accept the supreme leaders [Khomeinis] model of Islamic jurisprudence as the only acceptable political and religious model for [the] population.

Bechtel rejects claims of discrimination in redundancies

    - February 28, 2015 by Mr HomeBuilder

BECHTEL has long been held to account for the people it hires to help construct the three liquefied natural gas facilities on Curtis Island.

As the numbers being fired begins to take over the numbers being hired, workers are asking why it seems to be the fly-in fly-out workers and 457 visa holders that stay on the island.

But Bechtel Gladstone general manager Kevin Berg has rejected the suggestion the company is discriminatory in its approach to redundancies.

Five thousand locals are still part of the 13,600 strong team, with just 18 tradespeople on 457 visas.

Mr Berg said the recruitment program had always been to employ locally first, then regionally, then nationally across the wide range of skill sets required.

"It's critical we have employees with the right skill sets to perform the work we have remaining," he said.

"That means individuals need to be high performing and have the capability and credentials required to perform very specific work activities."

Mr Berg said there had been more than 10,000 redundancies on projects as Bechtel had gone through the different phases of construction.

"You simply can't replace an electrician with a plumber, or a crane operator with a carpenter," he said.

"Nor can you replace experienced tradespeople with inexperienced labour and vice versa."

    Demolition members stole confiscated items

    - February 28, 2015 by Mr HomeBuilder

SOME personnel from the Davao City Demolition Unit (CDU) are currently under investigation for stealing confiscated items during the demolition operations.

Speaking during the I-Speak Media Forum on Thursday at the Davao City Hall, CDU chief retired colonel Yusop Jimlani said they initially investigated four personnel from their recent demolition of shoe stalls who are violators of one-third two-third policy.

"We are now conducting investigation because we do not want to tolerate these things. The mayor does not like to tolerate these things to happen," Jimlani said.

He said that once the said personnel will be proven of stealing the items, "their contracts will expire immediately."

Meanwhile, Jimlani said they have conducted their demolition operation at Bankerohan.

"Gitudluan man gud nato ni ug binulanay ang tawo just to protect themselves. Ngayon, yung mga ganun, normal na yun sa amin kasi we did not went there to just say that we will be confiscating their goods talagang agawan yan, yung mga fruit vendors especially kung kuhaon nimo ilang baligya iyabo na nila sa dalan (Demolition team members expect a tug-of-war with the vendors over their stalls. If you try to grab their stalls, they will spill their goods on the ground)," he said in response to complaints that they have been harassing the vendors during the said operations.

Jimlani said they have been informing the people several times already and they are still not following the order.

"Asa man ka makakita'g demolition na gina-announce (Where can you see a demolition that is being announced) but nobody believes us and they will still be there and yet we have accommodated them at the night market and that is even an order of the City Mayor himself," he added.

The said demolition operation happened last Friday, February 20.

Ohio's demolition grant program still inspires improvements after it ends

    - February 28, 2015 by Mr HomeBuilder

The Daily Briefing Buckeye Forum Podcast

The Dispatchpublic affairs team talks politics and tackles state and federal government issues in the Buckeye Forum podcast.

Newark Mayor Jeff Hall called the Moving Ohio Forward demolition grant program a godsend.

Over the past 2 1/2 years, Hall has used the money to demolish more than 50 abandoned and dilapidated buildings in the city.

It didnt solve Newarks problem. There are still plenty of old, blighted buildings left to deal with in a city whose first building boom occurred in the mid-1800s. And, as of December, the funding had dried up. So whats next?

In many ways, its back to the drawing board, said Hall, who is relying on an undersized property maintenance department with one full-time inspector to put pressure on negligent property owners and issue liens if necessary.

But now there is a little momentum.

One dilapidated property makes all of the others look worse, Hall said. But you take it down and, all of a sudden, the street looks a little better. The neighbor thinks, Finally, Ill fix my porch. We have private-sector involvement now looking at buying multiple houses on a street and fixing them up. It keeps going on even without the (grant) dollars.

The Ohio attorney generals office was awarded $93 million in 2012 in a national settlement against five of the countrys largest predatory lenders whose unethical practices helped spark an epidemic of foreclosures and, ultimately, abandoned homes.

From that, Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine set aside $75 million for the creation of the grant program.

Demolition threat for old D.M. elementary building

    - February 28, 2015 by Mr HomeBuilder

The Wallace Elementary building, 1401 E. 12th St., has sat vacant on Des Moines northeast side since 2007. No development activity has taken place since the San Francisco based Olivet University bought the site from the Des Moines school district in 2012.(Photo: Timothy Meinch/The Register)

The empty shell of Des Moines Wallace Elementary School has deteriorated for too long on the northeast side, according to city officials.

The city declared the site a public nuisance in January and officials now contemplate demolition of the building at 1401 E. 12th St. in the Capitol Park neighborhood.

Its too bad it got to this point, really too bad, said Lorraine Eldredge, longtime resident of Capitol Park and member of the neighborhood association. Years ago they should have preserved it.

Wallace Elementary closed in 2007 along with Longfellow Elementary to merge into the new Carver Community School, at 705 E. University Ave.

The Wallace building has since sat vacant and exempt from all property taxes. The 3.3 acres of land and the building were last assessed in 2014 at $158,000, according to records with the Polk County Assessor.

Olivet University in 2012 bought the property from the Des Moines school district. The San Francisco-based private Christian college apparently had plans for expansion that never panned out, according to school and city officials who have had minimal contact with Olivet.

Its just been sitting since then with no activity, which is allowing the building to further deteriorate, said SuAnn Donovan, city zoning administrator. Weve sent them notices and tried to get in contact with them.

Officials with Olivet did not respond to questions from The Des Moines Register asked via phone calls and email this week.

City officials say the decrepit site must be secured and potentially razed. City attorneys are seeking a court order to allow such actions, Donovan said.
