A local township continues to grow in new home construction, a trend that experts say helps the Butler County and its residents as a whole.
Last year Liberty Twp. led the way in Butler County for new single family home permits. There were 294 permits issued last year, up 15 percent from the year before.
That rate outpaced the next largest issuers of such permits, West Chester Twp. and Fairfield Twp., both of which issued 68 in 2014, a relative plateau compared to 2013.
Theres just a lot of momentum from that part of the region, particularly with the new commercial development going in there, theyre going to need more rooftops to be able to support the businesses that are going to be locating there, said Dan Dressman, executive director for the Home Builders Association of Greater Cincinnati.
One key factor helping Liberty is it still has land on which to build, Dressman said.
Future construction is dependent upon the area, he said.
I think the reason youre seeing the kind of growth youre seeing in Liberty Twp. is because most of Mason was hot a few years ago, but its almost built out now, Dressman said. People who might have had some interest in that particular area now are just moving a little further west.
Liberty is coming down from a true boom - 75 percent year-over-year increase in housing starts between 2012 and 2013. But between another year-over-year gain and Liberty Twp.s new Carriage Hill development hosting Homearama in 2013 and 2014, there are clear signs of economic strength, Dressman said.
One factor expected to contribute to the townships momentum is the $160 million expansion of Cincinnati Childrens Liberty Campus, Dressman said.

Liberty tops county for new single-family home growth
A family forced out of their home at Christmas because of a flood have asked for answers from the builder.
Chris Phillips and his fiancee Lynn Bailey had to move out after the flood covered the whole ground floor.
Suppliers for builders Bellway are testing a pipe in the ceiling which Chris believes may have been the source of the water.
Chris has called for the tests to be completed quickly so liability for what happened can be established.
Chris, of Pelton Fell, Chester-le-Street said: The ceiling collapsed and there was what can only described as a flood of water exiting the house.
There was an inch of water covering the whole ground floor and the furniture, wall coverings, electrical equipment and Christmas presents under the tree were ruined.
We were left homeless before Christmas and are living out of black bin bags on a day-to-day sleeping on floors and settees.
Anyone standing underneath the ceiling, or even a child playing when it collapsed, could have been hurt.
No-one was injured but this could have had a very different ending.
The couples children Evie, seven, and ten-month-old Emme were also evacuated while Bellway carried out repairs.
