Orang asli feel marginalised as land is cleared for vegetable farming and illegal foreign workers brought in.

GUA MUSANG: Orang Asli living in several villages in Lojing claim that the climate at the highlands was no longer cool due to serious land-clearing.

One of the orang asli, Basri Tumpang, 33, said temperatures in Lojing had gone up over the last 10 years as the land had been cleared for vegetable farming.

He also claimed that the land was cleared illegally and operators were using illegal foreign labour.

Those of us who live here feel increasingly marginalised as most of our land has been invaded by vegetable farmers, he told Bernama here.

Sabri Limus, 58, said farming activities could also be seen along the roadsides in the area.

There is no more empty land left after it has been filled with vegetable farms even along the roadside and river reserve land he said.

Meanwhile, Galas state assemblyman Ab Aziz Yusof said there were more than 120 operators in Lojing and it was increasingly difficult to contain the situation.

I have previously sent a number of notices to the related authorities to survey the farming area so it does not increase the risk of unwanted incidents, especially mudslides, he said.

Queensland MP Bob Katter has said NSW farmer Peter Spencer's court case is nationally important.

The long-running Federal Court case of southern NSW farmer Peter Spencer strikes at the heart of land ownership in Australia, Queensland federal MP Bob Katter says.

Mr Katter has flown to Sydney to support Mr Spencer's legal case against the Commonwealth and the NSW government over land-clearing laws.

He argues restrictions imposed on the clearing of vegetation on his farm constitutes an acquisition of his property.

Speaking outside the court on Thursday, Mr Katter told reporters that the case, which was launched in 2007, was one of the most important in Australia's history.

"Today the question is: who owns the land, the crown or the people?

"If we don't own our own land and a bunch of half-witted politicians own our land, than God help us all.

"This is why I have tracked across Australia to support Peter."

It comes more than four years after Mr Spencer staged a 52-day hunger strike in 2009 and 2010 on a suspended platform on his former property at Shannons Flat, near Cooma.

The leader of Katter's Australian Party said "millions of dollars worth of timber and timber rights" had been taken off Mr Spencer without compensation.

Italian architecture and interior design is as famous for its style as it is for its price tag, but alas, for Italys homeowners who require the services of an architect or property designer, it is a profession that has literally priced itself out of its own market.

Until recently, those looking renovate their homes or offices had only two options; do it themselves or hire an interior designer, at huge cost. Now they have a third; CoContest, an innovative crowdsourcing platform for interior design that puts customers in direct contact with interior designers all over the world.

By applying a public tender mechanism to the private user experience, CoContest allows the end-user to set the price and the deadline and invite members of an international community of interior designers to compete with proposals for ideas to renovate their spaces.

Since its launch in 2011 the platform has hosted hundreds of these contests, and attracted around 20,000 designers from over 100 countries.

The business was started in Rome by the Schiano di Pepe brothers; architect Filippo, and law graduate Federico, who says: After working as an interior designer and architect in Europe for a few years, my brother recognised the problems and inefficiencies of a market where young, skilled designers work hard but fail to build a professional life simply because there are fewer customers willing to hire an interior designer.

And it was Filippo who came up with the idea of offering homeowners the chance of launching their own interior design competition by adapting the system typically used by large companies and local administrations to find the best project for museums and other large public and private sector buildings.

What created the opportunity for the start-up was the decline of the Italian domestic market for interior design. People simply couldnt afford their fees.

This had a massive impact on the Italian architectural profession, which represents around 10% of the global profession, as unemployment rates among newly graduated designers began to soar.

For more than a decade, DesignIntelligence has published the definitive school ranking as determined by practitioners who employ design professionals. In the 2015 ratings, Woodbury is ranked in second place, with the University of Oregons program taking the top spot in the West and California College of the Arts placing third.

Americas Best Architecture & Design Schools is conducted annually by DesignIntelligence on behalf of the Design Futures Council. The research ranks undergraduate and graduate programs from the perspective of leading practitioners. The 15th annual survey was conducted in mid-2014. The professional practice survey queried participants on the question, In your firms hiring experience in the past five years, which of the following schools are best preparing students for success in the profession? In addition, firms were queried about additional issues, such as how programs rate in teaching various skills.

We're used to seeing her all glammed up on the red carpet at swanky events.

But The Simple life star Nicole Richie looks unusually pale and underdone in her latest selfie.

The fashion designer shared a snap of her and her interior designer pal Ryan Korban with her Instagram followers on Wednesday afternoon.

The reality star, has her hair scraped back in a bun, and shows off her natural beauty in the snap.

And Nicole's fans were quick to compliment the former reality star.

"love her self-confidence sans makeup!," wrote one.

"How does she look so bangin with no make up....but like...banginer than with make up," (sic) wrote another.

The reality star recently came under fire when she posted a photo of her back from behind on Instagram - with some users saying she looked far too thin.

But Nicole's fans were quick to defend her.

"I don't know why people bother commenting negative things on here. If you don't like how she looks, stop following her. Your negative comments do nothing but make you look incompetent, arrogant and jealous," wrote one user.

EXCELSIOR SPRINGS, MO (KCTV) -

A family of five lost their house, Christmas presents and decorations when a fire destroyed their Excelsior Springs home.

Now, a local diner is hoping to help by collecting donations for the family.

The fire destroyed the family's home in the 300 block of Haynes on Tuesday afternoon. A 5-year-old boy named Lucky noticed the smoke and alerted his dad who was sleeping at the time.

"Luckily Lucky woke me up. He saw some smoke in the kitchen. He said, 'dad, dad I see some smoke,'" his dad, Joe Clark, said. "He lives up to his name continuously. He's just a little jewel. Both my boys, we've been blessed with two beautiful children."

Clark, his fianc Lura Pate, their sons 6-year-old Odin and 5-year-old Lucky and the boys' grandmother, Renna, all lived inside the home.

Firefighters believe old electrical wiring in the attic started the fire.

Firefighters rushed to save the majority of the boys' Christmas presents. Several presents and Christmas decorations were destroyed.

"I couldn't thank them enough. I don't even have the words to describe that feeling when I saw those boxes of gifts sitting perfectly fine outside on the lawn," Pate said.

The bedrooms inside the home were badly damaged by smoke and water. The upstairs bedroom and attic were also destroyed.
