Pronews 7's Palo Duro Canyon set will soon find a new home in the Panhandle-Plains Historical Museum.
If you've been watching Pronews 7 lately, you may have noticed some new faces among many other new additions. These past few months, more reporters as well as anchors have joined our team along with new cameras, cars and an overhaul of the Canady Broadcast Center. Engineers from across the country are camped out now at the beacon of broadcasting excellence, preparing our signal, our building and our staff for..."The Upgrade."
We are proud to announce (and really excited about) "The Upgrade," the next step of our transition to reveal a whole new look. Friday, November 14th, will be the last day Pronews 7 will broadcast from our legendary Palo Duro Canyon set. It has been in existence for more than 20 years and will soon find a new home in the Panhandle-Plains Historical Museum. This set has been a staple in our community. Hundreds of school groups, scout troops, friends and family have had their pictures taken in front it. And to wish it a proper farewell, we are opening our doors Friday, from 2pm-4pm, and inviting viewers to bring their cameras and have their picture taken with the piece of history before it finds a new home.
With the farewell of the set comes a new look. That will be revealed after the new year, so in the meantime you'll notice us working through "The Upgrade." It may be quite entertaining as we test out the new equipment, broadcast from our garage as the new set is installed (yes, a garage - no one said this was going to be easy) and smile a whole lot - I told you, we're REALLY excited.
We want you to be a part of "The Upgrade", follow the progress on Twitter #ABC7Upgrade and on our Facebook page as well as at connectamarillo.com
During this transformation, one thing will not change...our commitment to bringing you the best news coverage possible in The Panhandle Spirit.
Stay tuned and THANK YOU for watching!

A Sydney architect credited with being "the key philosophical influence" behind much of Australia's best architecture today has become one of two Australians to receive Britain's highest architectural honour.
Richard Leplastrier and Melbourne-born Peter Wilson will receive Royal Institute of British Architects International Fellowships in London next month. The pair are the only Australians to be awarded the prize since its introduction in 2011.
Leplastrier is lauded internationally as one of the world's leading architects recognition achieved despite his aversion to media and publicity, and a body of exquisite little-seen and 'humble' residential work.

"This is a great honour for Rick, who is respected around the world for the humanitarian qualities of his work and teachings," close friend and fellow architect Peter Stutchbury said. "He's devoted his life to an architecture in which people are worth more than buildings, to a philosophy of responsibility."

Despite being Australia's second most awarded architect, the 75-year old 'national living treasure' remained as humble as his work, Stutchbury said. Glenn Murcutt remains the country's most awarded.
Leplastrier is celebrated for creating buildings and spaces that respond particularly sensitively to their site and culture, as well as being one of the nation's most respected architectural educators, mentoring many of the profession's current crop of practitioners.
Announcing the honour, the Royal Institute said Leplastrier "provided the backbone of thinking and belief" of much of the best work seen in Australia, noting his "extraordinary apprenticeship with Jorn Utzon, with whom he worked at the time of the Sydney Opera House".

The third annual American Society of Golf Course Architects Design Excellence Recognition Program has recognized Nicklaus Design and Trump National Golf Links at Ferry Point in the Bronx, New York, with one of 12 Design Excellence awards for 2014. Since its creation in 2012, the Design Excellence Recognition Program has shined a light on the innovation and problem-solving skills required of todays golf course designs.
Nicklaus Design and Ferry Point also received recognition by the Florida Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects. The New York City course was one of 30 recipients of the organizations 2014 Design Awards, and was recognized with the Environmental Sustainability Honor, as well as in the Resort and Entertainment Category with an Award of Excellence.
In awarding Ferry Point the Design Excellence Recognition, the American Society of Golf Course Architects (ASGCA)the oldest professional organization of golf course designers in Americalauded the environmental responsibility of the Ferry Point project. How does land get transformed after 20-plus years as landfill to an Irish Links-style course? For this Jack Nicklaus Signature course in collaboration with [John] Sanford, it was by working with the land and striving to improve the environment, along with creating really good golf, the ASGCA said.
To date, at least 23 past and present designers who have supported the work of Nicklaus Design have gone on to earn membership in the prestigious American Society of Golf Course Architects, including Ferry Point course designer Jack Nicklaus, Design Associate Jim Lipe, and John Sanford, who collaborated on the project.
The 2014 nominations were reviewed by a panel of golf industry leaders, including representatives of the Club Managers Association of America, Golf Course Superintendents Association of America, Golf Course Builders Association of America and National Golf Course Owners Association.
The Environmental Sustainability Honor by the Florida Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects is presented by the Awards Jury to a single project that exhibits sound sustainable practices as described by the ASLA Environmental Sustainability Policy Statement.
The American Society of Landscape Architects believes that both human civilizations and the natural ecosystems represent integral parts of our environment, and therefore must be protected, restored, and perpetuated. In order to provide a healthy, productive, and socially enriching life for all, the Society urges public and private decision-makers to employ sustainable design policies and practices, minimize environmental degradation, avoid excessive consumption, and respect the needs of future generations.
Trump National Golf Links at Ferry Point features native fescue grasses that cover more than 50 percent of the course, which has only 70 acres of irrigated turf. More than one-third of runoff is recirculated back to the irrigation pond and reused on the course. The balance is delivered to basins, which trap and filter sediments, nutrients and chemicals. The course is scheduled to host a 2017 PGA Tour event, and will open to the public in 2015 upon completion of its clubhouse.

The surface parking lot at Newport on the Levee will be closed for 2 years as an $80 million project is built on that space. (Photo: Enquirer file )
The surface parking lot east of Newport on the Levee is closing Tuesday in preparation for a two-year, $80 million construction project.
The project is expected to add 238 upscale apartments, an 800-space parking garage, a hotel and 8,200 square feet of retail space in Newport along Third Street. The development would serve as a second act for the 13-year-old retail, restaurant and entertainment destination.
BIG PLANS: Read why Levee officials are working on big development projects
Newport on the Levee officials said parking garage access will remain available and other nearby parking options remain available.
The Levee, which draws about 3.5 million visitors a year, has a 20-screen AMC Theater, Newport Aquarium, Axis Alley bowling lounge, GameWorks, and the Funny Bone Comedy Club. It also features national and regional restaurant brands such as Dick's Last Resort, Brio Tuscan Grille, Mitchell's Fish Market, Brothers Bar & Grill and Tom+Chee, office tenants i-wireless, Intrinzic, Constellation Brands and Comstock Valuation, and specialty shops and kiosks.
