NBN Co and Leighton Holdings' subsidiary, Thiess, have inked a deal to extend and significantly amend a contract to provide installation, activation and maintenance of connection to the NBN.
The new contract expands and varies the existing field services delivery contract which was due to expire in September 2014.
Under the contract, the main scope of work is to connect customers premises to the National Broadband Network in Queensland, NSW and the ACT.
With estimated forecast revenues of up to $183 million, the contract is for an initial two years with an option for a one year extension.
The works covered by the contact include connecting homes and businesses with fibre optic cable from the street, installing NBN connection boxes and power supplies, wiring connection sockets inside homes, providing service activation of end user customers and equipment repairs and service assurance calls to NBN connected homes.

Thiess also incorporates Silcar, a joint venture 50 per cent owned by Thiess Services.
The previous contract, signed in June 2011, was worth $380 million, with a specific value of $285 million to Thiess.
Leighton Holdings executive chairman and chief executive, Marcelino Fernandez Verdes, said the contract recognised the important part of the Leighton Group had in rolling out the national building project.
"Thiess' services business has a range of operation , maintenance, facilities and asset management services, and the strengthening of the relationship with NBN Co illustrates our cutting edge role in telecommunication," he said.

SPRING has arrived and the warmer temperatures are slowly waking people from their winter hibernation.
QUEEN OF CLEAN: Tara Elliott, of Elliott's Complete Cleaning, shares her tips for an effective spring clean. Photo: Geoff ONeill 080914GOB01
But there is one thing you might want to do before throwing your doors open to all and sundry.
Spring cleaning developed into an annual ritual for the reason that houses have a tendency to get deceptively dirty over winter.
Mould materialises from nowhere on window sills, furniture gets encased in thick seams of dust and rooms develop a dampness that is difficult to shake.
Tamworth woman Tara Elliott, who runs Elliotts Complete Cleaning with her husband Steve, told The Leader spring was one of her busiest times of the year.
She said every year the business was inundated with people wanting their homes professionally cleaned to remove the last vestiges of winter.
People open their curtains and see just how dusty and dirty everything has become over winter, she said.

A ceremonial dinner on the Sabarmati riverfront and a post-dinner walk along its renovated promenade is set to be the centrepiece of Chinese President Xi Jinpings visit to Gujarat on September 17.
Elaborate arrangements are being made to create a picturesque setting on the riverfront, a pet project of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, for his evening interaction with Mr. Xi.
On September 17, Mr. Modi will receive Mr. Xi at the Ahmedabad airport in the afternoon and head for Hotel Hyatt. After an official function at the hotel, the state guest will visit the Gandhi Ashram, accompanied by the Prime Minister. The entourage will then move to the riverfront for a cultural programme, which will last for over two hours.
Three marquees are being put up at the riverside, where the two leaders will have an early dinner, and then walk on the promenade. The entire stretch will be lit up and fountains will be installed. The city corporation is also planning to install a big fountain in the river. The gardens and lawns along the river are also being spruced up. The level of the Sabarmati, which receives water from the Narmada, will be maintained.
All the efforts are being made to project the city, Ahmedabads deputy municipal commissioner M. Thennaresan told The Hindu.
The nearby Gandhi Ashram will also be lit up and work is under way to build a lower promenade that will give direct access to the riverfront from the Ashram.
The entire stretch from the airport to the hotel, ashram and riverfront about 15 km is being renovated, Mr. Thennaresan said.
While some reports pegged the total cost of renovation at Rs. 10 crore, Mr. Thennaresan said it would range up to Rs. 5 crore.
Stringent security arrangements, involving sanitisation of the area around the hotel and parking lots, and installation of CCTV cameras are also under way.
Foreign Secretary Sujatha Singh arrived in the city on Friday and reviewed the arrangements.

A new framework for downtown Auckland has been launched today, setting out 12 major programmes of work that will help create a world-class area that is able to compete globally to attract investment, tourism and jobs.
The Downtown Framework sets out how the programmes of work fit together, and provides the context for future engagement and decisions on downtown projects.
The framework was approved by the Auckland Development Committee. Committee chair, Deputy Mayor Penny Hulse, says: "These are really exciting times for Aucklands city centre. Better transport and great quality public spaces will help it to become globally competitive, attracting businesses, talented people and creating new jobs. This is critical for the future success of all of Auckland.
"We have a once-in-a-generation opportunity here to create a well-functioning, efficient and vibrant downtown. This framework is a major step forward. It sets out principles to guide some of the difficult discussions ahead, including Aucklands central wharves and how to improve the amount and quality of public space in the city."
The framework, which is led by Auckland Councils City Centre Integration team, builds on the momentum of improvements happening across the city centre - including the three new cycleways launched last weekend and the quality walkways being opened this week and next.
Councillors also approved the sale of Queen Elizabeth Square (west of lower Queen Street), to enable other better-quality public spaces to be developed downtown.
The decision follows analysis that the existing square is shaded, windy and not well used; a larger, better-quality civic square could be created by pedestrianising part of lower Queen Street and the sale could fund new, high-quality public space at the waterfront. The three options are at the foot of Albert St, in front of the ferry building and at Admiralty Steps.
City Centre Integration General Manager Rick Walden said: "There has been extensive analysis of the existing space at Queen Elizabeth Square and it falls well short of what downtown Auckland needs. In effect, we are looking at shifting the square into the sun, to create a much better space outside the Britomart station. This would also generate funding for new, better-quality spaces at the waters edge. Great cities are defined by the quality of their public realm."
