MONROE COUNTY - The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) and Monroe County Engineer's Office announce abridge replacement on County Road 68near the intersection of TWP Rd 590 as part of Ohio's Bridge Partnership Program.
"Thanks to operational savings within ODOT and the leadership of Governor Kasich, we are able to make southeast Ohio roads safer and more accessible," said District 10 Deputy Director Steve Williams.
The program will invest approximately $120 million in repairing 200 statewide local bridges over the next three years. A total of up to 15 local bridges will be repaired throughout southeast Ohio including the Monroe CR 68 bridge.
"We're glad to have ODOT's help to improve some of our low graded bridges," said Monroe County Engineer Lonnie Tustin, P.S., P.E.
Currently, the CR 68 bridge is graded at 18 tons. Once the replacement has been made the bridge will be rated approximately 60 tons.
Earlier this year, ODOT began working with the Ohio County Engineers Association on a plan to help counties improve the condition of their bridges and make Ohio's bridges safer. Under the leadership of Gov. John R. Kasich, ODOT developed the first-of-its-kind program that is providing resources to assist counties and cities with the maintenance of bridges including bridge embankments, drainage repairs, and other related issues.
Construction begins August 6, 2014 and extends through October 5, 2014. The bridge will be CLOSED during construction.
The eastbound detour will be Jericho Low Gap Road South to Township Hwy 575 East to Dye Ridge Road South to Big Lick Road South to Township Hwy 571 East to Brownsville County Line Road North to Greenbrier Road North to Jericho Low Gap Road.

Some people love to clean and glory in gleaming porcelain, burnished wood and sparkling glass. For most of us, though, cleaning is a time-eater and anything but fun. Try these speed-cleaning tips to ease the pain and improve your results:
1. Mop windows clean. If you have tall windows, chances are you dont clean them very often, and when you do, its not easy. If you dont have the time or inclination to drag out a ladder for those hard-to-reach spots, try this trick instead: Take a cleaning pad mop and fasten a microfiber cloth to the mop head. Spray lightly with a quality window cleaning spray, then mop your windows until they shine.
2. Dont let scratches detract from your furniture. Simple fixes such as lemon oil will camouflage scratches and gouges. Dont have any lemon oil? Just grab a walnut and rub it into the scratch. The nuts natural oils will do the job.
3. A smelly sponge makes your whole kitchen smell. Whats more, a sour sponge is riddled with bacteria. For sweet sponges all the time, buy a wire sponge caddy to store sponges odor-free. Plastic sponge holders dont let enough air circulate, and sponge never lie flat.
4. Save grease-stained clothes. Did a stick of lip balm go into the wash and stain your clothes? Carbonas Laundry Devil No. 5 for grease will cure those garments of their oily affliction.
5. Dust-busting secret. Baseboard cleaning is easier and more effective using a dryer sheet. The anti-static properties help keep dust and animal hair from accumulating on your baseboards.
6. Organization is key. Use bread bag clips to mark electrical cords. Upended hairspray caps can fill in the space between drawer organizers and corral tiny items like swabs, bobby pins, medicine tubes and flossers.
7. Keep the fridge fresh. Line vegetable crisper drawers with newspaper, then top with old placemats. The paper will absorb odors, and the placemat will keep produce dry and can be tossed in the wash when its dirty.
8. Stale linens? Refresh your linen cabinet and closets with a homemade odor-chaser. Take a canning jar and punch holes in the lid, fill the jar half way with baking soda and add 10 drops of essential oil, such as lavender or eucalyptus. Your closets will smell fresh and clean again.
9. Baby oil your metals. To make stainless and chrome shine, add a small drop of baby oil to a microfiber cloth and polish until shiny. Use a drop of baby oil on a straight pin to unkink knotted necklace chains, and use it in a pinch to silence squeaky door hinges.

I have a small bathroom that I am planning to renovate. I will need a small bathtub and pedestal instead of a vanity, I think. This bathroom looks clean and organized with minimum space used
Can you please tell me about the floor tile? Thank you
I just love this bathroom. Can you please tell me where I might find the wall tile?
small bath (like in my DC house). Love the tile, but it's the SINK I really love. Where is it from?
Who makes the bathroom accessories? I am looking for a modern and minimal towel bar and toilet paper holder.
What color grout did you use on the wall tiles? Looks super!
What is the name of the tile and who manufactures it? Thanks!
What are the dimensions of this bathroom?
you a ridiculously small bathroom but with a beautiful half wall of tile. Best, Lauren

WINTER HAVEN | There's a story behind Carol G. Hughes' painting called Julie.
"The hummingbird is petite and feisty, just like a woman I know," Hughes said. "So I call that one Julie,' after her."
Hughes, of Winter Haven, is one of several artists showcasing their talents at Ridge Art Association's 3rd Annual Ridge Artisan Market, continuing through Aug. 15 at the Chain of Lakes Civic Center.
The market was designed to give artisans a forum to both share and sell their work.
Christy Hemenway, executive director of Ridge Art Association, said the market was created as a result of financial challenges.
"We wanted to open the gallery during the summer and didn't have the funding for another competition," said Hemenway, adding the summer market allowed the gallery to remain open through the season.
"RAA is a non-profit competition art gallery catering to grassroots artists mainly across Central Florida," she said, "we also draw artists from across the country."
Hughes paid $100 for the wall space at the market and a broad range of her work is on display and available for sale. She's also anticipating her art reception from 3 to 6 p.m. today.
"I paint series of angry birds and of angels, and a few landscapes," Hughes said. Her acrylic paintings range from $40 to $600.
