Japanese AV stars with a spin

    - July 27, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

    Step aside, female model-DJs.

A Japanese restaurant-lounge, Haru, is spicing up the nightlife scene here by inviting Japanese Adult Video (AV) actresses to spin the decks.

In the last few months, two sexy Japanese adult entertainment stars, Namiki Yu and Misaki Rola, have already hit our shores, performing at Haru on separate occasions.

Tonight and tomorrow, AV actress Rei Kawashima will be dropping the beats on the decks in Haru, from 11pm till late.

Other than deejaying at the Magazine Road club, the 24-year-old will also put up a short cultural Japanese dance performance. Mr Lee Jia Jun, 27, owner of Haru, told The New Paper: "Getting the AV actresses to make appearances here is a novelty. It's value-added entertainment for our mostly Japanese expat clientele."

He added: "The performances by the AV actresses are not sleazy. They will usually do more commercialised acts such as hosting, dancing, singing or DJ-ing."

The past two appearances by the AV actresses have attracted a capacity crowd of more than 150 people in the lounge.

    FIVE-FIGURE FEE

Mr Lee revealed that the club pays the actresses a five-figure appearance fee and that he is looking to make it a bi-monthly event. Haru is not the only nightlife establishment here that has such gimmicks to draw customers.

Last year, the now-defunct Club Lava spent $40,000 inviting busty Chinese model-actress Gan Lu Lu, 28, to make an appearance for its opening night.

Sen. Mark Kirk, R-Ill., met Friday with a White House official to call for removing upper management at Hines Veterans Affairs Hospital, which he said would create a culture of accountability for the embattled facility.

Kirk also met with Hines director Joan Ricard, whom he has repeatedly recommended be removed.

He again called for her termination, adding I suggested to her that she get a criminal lawyer to defend her against the upcoming FBI investigation Im going to recommend.

The Illinois senator met with Deputy White House Chief of Staff Rob Nabors to address a plethora of issues at Hines, including long wait times for veterans, and even an alleged mold problem. Kirks staff issued photos of what they said was mold discovered in a newly renovated area of the hospital.

Kirk first met with Nabors and hospital whistleblowers, including Germaine Clarno, a Hines social worker who is local president of a union representing hospital employees. He then met with Nabors, Hines representatives, including Ricard, as well as Sen. Dick Durbin and congressional officials.

Kirk suggested the hospital take on a Navy culture:

Woman Who Left Creepy Dolls on Porches Is 'Embarrassed'

    - July 27, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

ABC News | More ABC News VideosCopy

Maybe she should have left a note.

The woman who left porcelain dolls on the porches of several young girls' homes in a California neighborhood was only trying to give away toys her own family had outgrown, the Orange County Sheriffs Department said today.

Lt. Jeff Hallock added that the woman, who knew the girls from church, is now mortified by the media attention after news organizations picked up the story about how creepy dolls had mysteriously appeared in front of at least eight San Clemente homes.

"She was embarrassed and I think a little scared that something she intended to be a good-will gesture turned into something that was terrifying the community for a short time," Hallock said.

Decks Are Out, Porches Are In

    - July 27, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

Imagine if you could afford a house. Now, imagine if you could afford to have porch on that house. Sounds nice, right? Yeah, that's what lots of people are thinking now!

Says here in the Wall Street Journal that porcheswhich have always been nice, from the day they were invented through every hot summer day over the following hundreds of years and up to the present day, without exceptionare popular again, after being less popular for a while, for some reason. The percentage of new homes that have porches has gone up by 50% in the past two decades. So if you want to be "in the know," hand over those Bitcoins to the builder man and tell him you want a porchnot a god damn deck!!!

As porches have grown in popularity, "deck" has become the new four-letter word of high-end home design. "We never use the word deck, it's a pejorative term; we always use the word porch. It could be any covered outdoor space," said Stephen Vanze, a partner in Barnes Vanze Architects in Washington, D.C. "We probably do 50 to 60 projects a yearalmost all of them have a porch involved." Unlike an uncovered deck, which is stuck onto the exterior of the house, he explained, a porch is a well-designed outdoor room.

I want a nice porchnot a jumble of plywood stuck against my back door with Gorilla Glue!!! Got it???

If you're keeping track, garages are OUT, lawns are OUT, decks are DEFINITELY OUT, but porches are IN. Don't get caught having the wrong stuff on your house (embarrassing).

Now you just need some money.
