Complimentary Deck Cleaning Estimates Available from Renew Crew of Montgomery County and Great Columbia

    - July 1, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

Laytonsville, MD (PRWEB) June 30, 2014

Now is the ideal time to thoroughly clean wooden decks to remove grime and get ready for heavy use and enjoyment in Summer. Renew Crew of Montgomery County and Great Columbia is currently giving homeowners free estimates on its deck cleaning services. To schedule a free estimate, homeowners should visit the Renew Crew of Montgomery County website and refer to the offer when scheduling.

A wood deck with a fresh sealant looks fabulous. But after a few short years of rain, sun exposure and use, the same backyard deck starts to look grey with age. The deck may also be discolored in places or have mildew, moss or mold growing on or between the boards. Fortunately all of this accumulated damage can be reversed in a matter of hours with proper deck cleaning. Renew Crew of Montgomery County and Great Columbia has a proprietary 3-step procedure that first loosens dirt and grime from deep within the wood, washes it away and reseals the deck to safeguard from the elements. Renew Crew of Montgomery County and Great Columbia consistently achieves remarkable results on the dirtiest of wood decks. Before and after images of several types of decks are available on the website. Homeowners should be sure to work with a reputable company that specializes in deck cleaning to avoid costly wood damage from traditional pressure washing.

The rate for each deck cleaning project will depend on the area to be cleaned. Homeowners may also wish to have their fences, concrete, roofs or exterior siding cleaned on the same day. When booking an appointment for the deck cleaning estimate, homeowners should inform the estimator about other outdoor cleaning needs.

About Renew Crew of Montgomery County and Great Columbia Formerly known as Wood Re New, the company successfully grew their business and customer base leading to an introduction of expanded services with a new name - Renew Crew of Montgomery County and Great Columbia. Renew Crew has a specially formulated three step process to clean outside surfaces safely while keeping landscaping in tact. Step one is the application of a foam cleaner to soak and loosen dirt and grime. Step Two is similar to traditional pressure washing to spray away the grime. Step Three is the application of a protective sealant to keep outdoor spaces beautiful longer. The process is suitable for wood decks, wood fences, concrete patios, driveways, vinyl siding, stucco, roofs, log homes and many others. Serving Montgomery County Maryland including Silver Spring, Bethesda and Gaithersburg. Free estimates available.

Lewes firefighters go below decks on Lightship Overfalls

    - July 1, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

    By Ron MacArthur | Jul 01, 2014

Gordon Davis, deputy chief of the Lewes Fire Department, talks about the golden hour when it comes to saving a life.

It's 60 critical minutes firefighters, ambulance crews and paramedics have from the time they arrive at a scene to the time a victim arrives at the closest hospital for treatment.

During a June 26 drill at the Lightship Overfalls in Canalfront Park, a Lewes volunteer crew was able to secure and remove a victim with a broken leg from the bottom deck to the parking lot in less than 40 minutes. This was very realistic and still within the golden hour, he said following the drill. Getting the victim out in 39 minutes with those type of obstacles is excellent.

Volunteer firefighters were hampered by the tight quarters in the Overfalls and were forced to use special rope rigging and a skid to move a 160-pound dummy from the lower deck to the second deck. Once the dummy was extricated from the lower deck, it took volunteers only a few minutes to move it up another flight of stairs onto the deck and down the gang plank.

Davis gave his crew high marks during a critique of the drill. It was good team work with everyone thinking about the next step, he said. Using the skid was a good call.

He said the crew may have not had to manhandle the skid as much if a higher anchor point had been selected for the rope rigging. You had options, he told his crew. This is a brand new piece of equipment and this is why we do training.

Volunteers agreed that one thing they would have done in case of a real emergency in hot weather would be to provide better air circulation inside the ship; the temperature easily exceeded 90 degrees.

Sussex County paramedic Rob Mauch said in a real situation paramedics treating a victim in the tight quarters of the Overfalls would have added to the difficulty of the rescue. We would need very clear, concise communication, he said.

We see this lightship all the time and take it for granted, Davis said. But we need to realize it could be a significant rescue situation for us, and it might not be a simple rescue.

Proposed Regulation Promises to Improve Florida Mold Assessment

    - July 1, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

Tampa, Florida (PRWEB) July 01, 2014

The Florida mold industry had gone unregulated for years. As a result, unqualified environmental firms were practicing in and performing mold assessments and remediation.

Thanks to legislation that became effective in 2010, though, only state-licensed professionals are able to perform these activities. New legislation that is expected to be voted into law soon, promises to go a step further and clearly define minimum standards and practices for mold assessments and remediation.

This is good news for consumers. This closes the loophole that allowed companies to dodge the requirement for state-licensed professionals by branding their services Water damage assessment as opposed to Mold assessment.

The proposed rule is the crucial next step in regulating the industry, protecting the consumer, and ensuring the health and safety of building occupants, said Kelly Hoover.

The proposed law covers all aspects of the assessment and remediation process, however, below are the key aspects that may affect the requirements and deliverables of your projects.

Mold Assessment The purpose of a mold assessment is to determine the sources, locations, and extent of mold growth in a building and to determine the conditions(s) that caused the mold growth.

Before any remediation begins, a mold assessor will be required to prepare a Mold Assessment Report (MAR), including a Mold Remediation Protocol (MRP), for each project and deliver it to the client.

    This report must specify:

    What should the MRP contain?

Neighbors: Cars keep hitting our homes, city won't help

    - July 1, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

A woman was in custody after Pittsburgh police say the car she was driving went off a road and hit the porches of at least two homes and a natural gas meter early Monday morning.

Four homes were evacuated as a precaution on Federal Street, a busy thoroughfare on the city's North Side, a few blocks from downtown.

Police arrested Lisa Williams, 44, of Millvale. She is facing charges of making false reports to law enforcement authorities, DUI, driving while operating privilege is suspended and risking a catastrophe.

Equitable Gas crews were called to fix the meter. City officials inspected the homes and deemed them safe to occupy. No injuries were reported, but residents are angry that this is the third time a car has crashed into homes along the 1500 block of Federal Street in the past few months.

Neighbors shared photos of previous incidents with Pittsburgh's Action News 4 and claimed they have been trying to get the attention of city leaders.

"We know all of our neighbors. They're good people, and we have worked hard to redevelop this part of the North Side. People are damaging our property," Lee Bannister said.

Bannister said he has been a victim of a hit-and-run incident that did $8,000 worth of damage to his new SUV.

Anthony Vearnon said he witnessed a previous crash on the street.

"A car came down Henderson and hit a tree, went over the curb and went halfway into a door," Vearnon said. "I don't feel safe walking on these sidewalks knowing that, at any time, someone could jump the curb and hit me or somebody's children."

    Church demolition to begin

    - July 1, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

MT. VERNON Demolition of the former St. Mary Church is expected to get underway next week.

The Pastoral Council of St. Mary Immaculate Conception Church in Mt. Vernon announces with mixed emotions that the dismantling and removal of its 1921 church building, located at Main and 14th streets, will begin shortly after July 4, information states. The inside bricks, wooden beams and many other materials from the building will be transported and used as finishing materials in the construction of a grand hall adjacent to St. Stephens on the Hill, an outdoor wedding chapel in Eldorado.

According to the Pastoral Council, only four people in the parish expressed an interest in developing a plan for preserving the building and met with the pastor, Father John Iffert.

He shared with them information and cost estimates that had been produced by engineers, technical architects and construction managers for the parish, information states. He asked (the parishioners) to produce a plan for preservation and reuse of the building that would be consistent with the parish mission and financially self-supporting. After more than two years, no plan was presented.

The council states the decision to dismantle the 1921 church was reached after significant time, deliberation and prayer among our parishioners and church leadership.

Our goal is to dismantle the 1921 church in a way that is respectful to our parishioners and the community, and to find a worthy purpose for the materials of the building.

The new church which was completed and dedicated in January 2013, commemorates the 1921 church in its shape, brick exterior and wooden rafters, information from the church states. The Stations of the Cross, several statues and other artifacts from the former church have been moved and incorporated into the new church.

Many of our parishioners spent most of their lives forming their Catholic faith in the 1921 church, and have a lifetime of memories connected with that building, information from the church states. Not everyone within our church community supports the choice to dismantle and remove the 1921 church. However, Father Iffert and the Parish Pastoral Council are confident that the majority of our parishioners are at peace with this difficult decision, and have embraced the new church building with enthusiasm.

Construction worker dies after fall at St. Peter Claver Church in Lexington

    - July 1, 2014 by Mr HomeBuilder

A 60-year-old man died Monday afternoon after he fell while working at St. Peter Claver Catholic Church in downtown Lexington.

Macario Santiago-Cruz of Lexington died of blunt-force trauma when he fell 30 feet, according to a Fayette County coroner's new release.

Santiago-Cruz was pronounced dead at University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital. His death has been ruled an accident.

WKYT, the Herald-Leader's TV news partner, reported that Santiago-Cruz fell while doing construction.

St. Peter Claver, at Jefferson and Fourth Streets, is in the midst of an expansion project. It broke ground in December for a multipurpose and education center next to the church.

The Rev. Norman Fischer, the parish priest, said Monday that he planned to hold a memorial for Santiago-Cruz.
